Title First measurement of the muon neutrino charged current quasielastic double differential cross section Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 81 Issue 9 Pages 092005 - 22pp
  Keywords
Abstract A high-statistics sample of charged-current muon neutrino scattering events collected with the MiniBooNE experiment is analyzed to extract the first measurement of the double differential cross section (d(2)sigma/dT(mu)dcos theta(mu)) for charged-current quasielastic (CCQE) scattering on carbon. This result features minimal model dependence and provides the most complete information on this process to date. With the assumption of CCQE scattering, the absolute cross section as a function of neutrino energy (sigma[E-nu]) and the single differential cross section (d sigma/dQ(2)) are extracted to facilitate comparison with previous measurements. These quantities may be used to characterize an effective axial-vector form factor of the nucleon and to improve the modeling of low-energy neutrino interactions on nuclear targets. The results are relevant for experiments searching for neutrino oscillations.

Title Exotic dynamically generated baryons with negative charm quantum number Type Journal Article

  Keywords
Abstract Following a model based on the SU(8) symmetry that treats heavy pseudoscalars and heavy vector mesons on an equal footing, as required by heavy quark symmetry, we study the interaction of baryons and mesons in coupled channels within an unitary approach that generates dynamically poles in the scattering T-matrix. We concentrate in the exotic channels with negative charm quantum number for which there is the experimental claim of one state.

Title Next-to-leading order QCD corrections to W+W-gamma and ZZ gamma production with leptonic decays Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 81 Issue 9 Pages 094030 - 7pp
  Keywords
Abstract The computation of the O(alpha(s)) QCD corrections to the cross sections for W+W-gamma and ZZ gamma production in hadronic collisions is presented. We consider the case of a real photon in the final state, but include full leptonic decays of the W and Z bosons. Numerical results for the LHC and the Tevatron are obtained through a fully flexible parton level Monte Carlo program based on the structure of the VBFNLO program, allowing an easy implementation of arbitrary cuts and distributions. We show the dependence on scale variations of the integrated cross sections and provide evidence that next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections strongly modify the LO predictions for observables at the LHC both in magnitude and in shape.

Title Gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking via seesaw mechanisms Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 81 Issue 9 Pages 095013 - 12pp
  Keywords
Abstract We present a simple scenario for gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) where the messengers are also the fields that generate neutrino masses. We show that the simplest such scenario corresponds to the case where neutrino masses are generated through the type I and type III seesaw mechanisms. The entire supersymmetric spectrum and Higgs masses are calculable from only four input parameters. Since the electroweak symmetry is broken through a doubly radiative mechanism, meaning a nearly zero B term at the messenger scale which runs down to acceptable values, one obtains quite a constrained spectrum for the supersymmetric particles whose properties we describe. We refer to this mechanism as "nu GMSB.''

Title Future CMB cosmological constraints in a dark coupled universe Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 81 Issue 10 Pages 103534 - 7pp
  Keywords
Abstract Cosmic microwave background satellite missions as the ongoing Planck experiment are expected to provide the strongest constraints on a wide set of cosmological parameters. Those constraints, however, could be weakened when the assumption of a cosmological constant as the dark energy component is removed. Here we show that it will indeed be the case when there exists a coupling among the dark energy and the dark matter fluids. In particular, the expected errors on key parameters as the cold dark matter density and the angular diameter distance at decoupling are significantly larger when a dark coupling is introduced. We show that it will be the case also for future satellite missions as EPIC, unless CMB lensing extraction is performed.

Abstract ATF2 is a final-focus test beam line which aims to focus the low emittance beam from the ATF damping ring to a vertical size of about 37 nm and to demonstrate nanometer level beam stability. Several advanced beam diagnostics and feedback tools are used. In December 2008, construction and installation were completed and beam commissioning started, supported by an international team of Asian, European, and U. S. scientists. The present status and first results are described.

Title Dynamically generated resonances from the vector octet-baryon decuplet interaction Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
  Volume 44 Issue 3 Pages 431-443
  Keywords
Abstract We study the interaction of the octet of vector mesons with the decuplet of baryons using Lagrangians of the hidden gauge theory for vector interactions. The unitary amplitudes in coupled channels develop poles that can be associated with some known baryonic resonances, while there are predictions for new ones at the energy frontier of the experimental research. The work offers guidelines on how to search for these resonances.

Year 2010 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
  Volume 44 Issue 3 Pages 445-454
  Keywords
Abstract We study the interaction of vector mesons with the octet of stable baryons in the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism using a coupled-channels unitary approach. We examine the scattering amplitudes and their poles, which can be associated to known J(P) = 1/2(-), 3/2(-) baryon resonances, in some cases, or give predictions in other ones. The formalism employed produces doublets of degenerate J(P) = 1/2(-), 3/2(-) states, a pattern which is observed experimentally in several cases. The findings of this work should also be useful to guide present experimental programs searching for new resonances, in particular in the strange sector where the current information is very poor.

Title Radiative open charm decay of the Y(3940), Z(3930), X(4160) resonances Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A

Abstract We determine the radiative decay amplitudes for the decay into D* and (D) over bar gamma, or (D) over bar gamma(s)* and s. of some of the charmonium- like states classified as X, Y, Z resonances, plus some other hidden charm states which are dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with charm. The mass distributions as a function of the (D) over bar gamma or (D) over bar (s)gamma. invariant mass show a peculiar behavior as a consequence of the D* (D) over bar gamma* nature of these states. The experimental search of these magnitudes can shed light on the nature of these states.
