Abstract |
In this paper we simultaneously explain the excesses of the 750 GeV diphoton, muon g-2 and h -> μtau in an extension of the two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) with additional vector-like fermions and a CP-odd scalar singlet (P) which is identified as the 750 GeV resonance. This 750 GeV resonance has a mixing with the CP-odd scalar (A) from a second scalar doublet, which leads to a coupling between P and the SM particles as well as a coupling between A and the vector-like fermions. Such mixing and couplings are strongly constrained by tau -> μgamma, muon g-2 and the 750 GeV diphoton data. We scan over the parameter space and find that such an extension can simultaneously account for the observed excesses of 750 GeV diphoton, muon g-2 and h -> μtau. The 750 GeV resonance decays in exotic modes, such as P -> hA, P -> H Z, P -> H A and P -> W-+/- H--/+ and its width can be dozens of GeV and is sensitive to the mixing angle. |

Abstract |
A study of the decay D-0 -> K-pi(+)mu(+)mu(-) is performed using data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb(-1). Decay candidates with muon pairs that have an invariant mass in the range 675-875 MeV/c(2) are considered. This region is dominated by the rho(0) and omega resonances. The branching fraction in this range is measured to be B(D-0 -> K-pi(+)mu(+)mu(-)) = (4.17 +/- 0.12 (stat) +/- 0.40 (syst)) x 10(-6). This is the first observation of the decay D-0 -> K-pi(+)mu(+)mu(-). Its branching fraction is consistent with the value expected in the Standard Model. |

Abstract |
In an experiment with the RIKEN projectile fragment separator called BigRIPS at the RIKEN Nishina Center, the fragmentation of a Kr-78 beam allowed the observation of new neutron-deficient isotopes at the proton drip line. Clean identification spectra could be produced and Se-63, Kr-67, and Kr-68 were identified for the first time. In addition, Ge-59 was also observed. Three of these isotopes, Ge-59, Se-63, and Kr-67, are potential candidates for ground-state two-proton radioactivity. In addition, the isotopes Ge-58, Se-62, and Kr-66 were also sought but without success. The present experiment also allowed the determination of production cross sections for some of the most exotic isotopes. These measurements confirm the trend already observed that the empirical parametrization of fragmentation cross sections, EPAX, significantly overestimates experimental cross sections in this mass region. |

Abstract |
The production of Z bosons with one or two isolated high-energy photons is studied using pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV. The analyses use a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb(-1) collected by the ATLAS detector during the 2012 LHC data taking. The Z gamma and Z gamma gamma production cross sections are measured with leptonic (e(+) e(-), mu(+) mu(-), nu(nu) over bar) decays of the Z boson, in extended fiducial regions defined in terms of the lepton and photon acceptance. They are then compared to cross-section predictions from the Standard Model, where the sources of the photons are radiation off initial-state quarks and radiative Z-boson decay to charged leptons, and from fragmentation of final-state quarks and gluons into photons. The yields of events with photon transverse energy E-T > 250 GeV from l(+) l(-) gamma events and with E-T > 400 GeV from nu(nu) over bar gamma events are used to search for anomalous triple gauge-boson couplings ZZ gamma and Z gamma gamma. The yields of events with diphoton invariant mass m(gamma gamma) > 200 GeV from l(+) l(-) gamma gamma events and with m(gamma gamma) > 300 GeV from nu(nu) over bar gamma gamma events are used to search for anomalous quartic gauge-boson couplings ZZ gamma gamma and Z gamma gamma gamma. No deviations from Standard Model predictions are observed and limits are placed on parameters used to describe anomalous triple and quartic gauge-boson couplings. |

Abstract |
A variant for the superspin one-half massive superparticle in 4D, N = 1, based on Dirac superfields, is offered. As opposed to the current known models that use spinor chiral superfields, the propagating fields of the supermultiplet are those of the lowest mass dimensions possible: scalar, Dirac and vector fields. Besides the supersymmetric chiral condition, the Dirac superfields are not further constrained, allowing a very straightforward implementation of the path-integral method. The corresponding superpropagators are presented. In addition, an interaction super Yukawa potential, formed by Dirac and scalar chiral superfields, is given in terms of their component fields. The model is first presented for the case of two superspin one-half superparticles related by the charged conjugation operator, but in order to treat the case of neutral superparticles, the Majorana condition on the Dirac superfields is also studied. We compare our proposal with the known models of spinor superfields for the one-half superparticle and show that it is equivalent to them. |

Abstract |
The production of D*(+/-), D-+/- and D-S(+/-) charmed mesons has been measured with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at,/7s = 7 TeV at the LHC, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 280 nb(-)1(.) The charmed mesons have been reconstructed in the range of transverse momentum 3.5 < p(T)(D) < 100 GeV and pseudorapidity vertical bar eta(D)vertical bar < 2.1. The differential cross sections as a function of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity were measured for D*(+/-) and D-+/- production. The next-to-leading-order QCD predictions are consistent with the data in the visible kinematic region within the large theoretical uncertainties. Using the visible D cross sections and an extrapolation to the full kinematic phase space, the strangeness -suppression factor in charm fragmentation, the fraction of charged non -strange D mesons produced in a vector state, and the total cross section of charm production at root s = 7 TeV were derived. |

Abstract |
We performed a gamma-particle coincidence experiment for the Ni-60 + Sn-116 system to investigate whether the population of the two-neutron pickup channel leading to Ni-62 is mainly concentrated in the ground-state transition, as has been found in a previous work [D. Montanari et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 113, 052501 (2014)]. The experiment has been performed by employing the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer coupled to the Advanced Gamma Tracking Array (AGATA) demonstrator. The strength distribution of excited states corresponding to the inelastic, one-and two-neutron transfer channels has been extracted. We found that in the two-neutron transfer channel the strength to excited states corresponds to a fraction (less than 24%) of the total, consistent with the previously obtained results that the 2n channel is dominated by the ground-state to ground-state transition. |

Abstract |
This paper presents a new method of reconstructing the individual charged and neutral hadrons in tau decays with the ATLAS detector. The reconstructed hadrons are used to classify the decay mode and to calculate the visible four-momentum of reconstructed tau candidates, significantly improving the resolution with respect to the calibration in the existing tau reconstruction. The performance of the reconstruction algorithm is optimised and evaluated using simulation and validated using samples of Z -> tau tau and Z(-> μmu)+jets events selected from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb(-1). |

Abstract |
The ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider has performed searches for new, heavy bosons decaying to WW, WZ and ZZ final states in multiple decay channels using 20.3 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 8 TeV. In the current study, the results of these searches are combined to provide a more stringent test of models predicting heavy resonances with couplings to vector bosons. Direct searches for a charged diboson resonance decaying to WZ in the l nu l'l' (l = mu, e), llq (q) over bar, l nu q (q) over bar and fully hadronic final states are combined and upper limits on the rate of production times branching ratio to the WZ bosons are compared with predictions of an extended gauge model with a heavy W' boson. In addition, direct searches for a neutral diboson resonance decaying to WW and ZZ in the llq (q) over bar, l nu q (q) over bar, and fully hadronic final states are combined and upper limits on the rate of production times branching ratio to the WW and ZZ bosons are compared with predictions for a heavy, spin-2 graviton in an extended Randall-Sundrum model where the Standard Model fields are allowed to propagate in the bulk of the extra dimension. Abstract |
The Z(c)(+/-)(3900)/Z(c)(+/-)(3885) resonant structure has been experimentally observed in the Y(4260) -> J/Psi pi pi and Y(4260) -> (D) over bar* D pi decays. This structure is intriguing since it is a prominent candidate of an exotic hadron. Yet, its nature is unclear so far. In this work, we simultaneously describe the (D) over bar* D and J/Psi pi invariant mass distributions in which the Z(c) peak is seen using amplitudes with exact unitarity. Two different scenarios are statistically acceptable, where the origin of the Z(c) state is different. They correspond to using energy dependent or independent (D) over bar *D S-wave interaction. In the first one, the Z(c) peak is due to a resonance with a mass around the D (D) over bar* threshold. In the second one, the Z(c) peak is produced by a virtual state which must have a hadronic molecular nature. In both cases the two observations, Z(c)(+/-)(3900) and Z(c)(+/-)(3885), are shown to have the same common origin, and a (D) over bar *D bound state solution is not allowed. Precise measurements of the line shapes around the D (D) over bar* threshold are called for in order to understand the nature of this state. |
