Abstract |
The very rare D*(2007)(0) -> mu(+) mu(-) decay is searched for by analysing B- -> pi (-) mu(+) mu(-) decays. The analysis uses a sample of beautymesons produced in protonproton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The signal signature corresponds to simultaneous peaks in the mu(+) mu(-) and pi(-) mu(+) mu(-) invariant masses. No evidence for an excess of events over background is observed and an upper limit is set on the branching fraction of the decay at B(D-*(2007)(0) -> mu(+) mu(-)) < 2.6 x 10(-8) at 90% confidence level. This is the first limit on the branching fraction of D*(2007)(0) -> mu(+) mu(-) decays and the most stringent limit on D* (2007)(0) decays to leptonic final states. The analysis is the first search for a rare charm-meson decay exploiting production via beauty decays. |

Abstract |
Four decay modes of the B-c(+) meson into a J/psi meson and multiple charged kaons or pions are studied using proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The decay B-c(+) -> J/psi K+ K- pi(+)pi(+)pi(-) is observed for the first time, and evidence for the B-c(+) -> J/psi 4 pi(+)3 pi(-) decay is found. The decay B-c(+) -> J/psi 3 pi(+)2 pi(-) is observed and the previous observation of the B-c(+) -> psi(2S)pi(+)pi(+)pi(-) decay is confirmed using the psi(2S) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Ratios of the branching fractions of these four B-c(+) decay channels are measured. |

Abstract |
Using a proton-proton collision data sample collected by the LHCb detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 fb(-1), the lifetime of the light B-s(0) mass eigenstate, tau(L), is measured using the B-s(0) -> J/psi eta decay mode to be tau(L) = 1.445 +/- 0.016(stat) +/- 0.008(syst) ps. A combination of this result with a previous LHCb analysis using an independent dataset corresponding to 3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity gives tau(L) = 1.452 +/- 0.014 +/- 0.007 +/- 0.002 ps, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second due to the uncorrelated part of the systematic uncertainty and the third due to the correlated part of the systematic uncertainty. |

Abstract |
The measurement of charmonium states produced in proton-neon (pNe) collisions by the LHCb experiment in its fixed-target configuration is presented. The production of J/Psi and Psi(2S) mesons is studied with a beam of 2.5 TeV protons colliding on gaseous neon targets at rest, cvorresponding to a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy root(NN)-N-s = 68.5GeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 21.7 +/- 1.4 nb(-1). The J/Psi and Psi(2S) hadrons are reconstructed in mu(+) mu(-) final states. The J/Psi production cross-section per target nucleon in the centre-of-mass rapidity range y* is an element of [-2.29, 0] is found to be 506 +/- 8 +/- 46 nb/nucleon. The ratio of J/Psi and D-0 cross-sections is evaluated to (1.06 +/- 0.02 +/- 0.09)%. The Psi(2S) to J/Psi relative production rate is found to be (1.67 +/- 0.27 +/- 0.10)% in good agreement with other measurements involving beam and target nuclei of similar sizes. |

Abstract |
A search for direct CP violation in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay D-s(+) -> K-K+ K+ and in the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D+ -> K- K+ K+ is reported. The analysis is performed with data collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb(-1). The search is conducted by comparing the D-(s)(+) and D-(s)(-) Dalitz-plot distributions through a model-independent binned technique, based on fits to the K-K+K+ invariantmass distributions, with a total of 0.97 (1.27) million D-s(+) (D+) signal candidates. The results are given as p-values for the hypothesis of CP conservation and are found to be 13.3% for the D+ -> K-K+ K+ decay and 31.6% for the D+ -> K-K+ K+ decay. No evidence for CP violation is observed in these decays. |

Abstract |
The angular distribution and differential branching fraction of the decay B-0 -> K*(0)mu(+)mu(-) are studied using a data sample, collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1). Several angular observables are measured in bins of the dimuon invariant mass squared, q(2). A first measurement of the zero-crossing point of the forward-backward asymmetry of the dimuon system is also presented. The zero-crossing point is measured to be q(0)(2) = 4.9 +/- 0.9 GeV2/c(4), where the uncertainty is the sum of statistical and systematic uncertainties. The results are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. |

Abstract |
The kinematic dependences of the relative production rates, f(Lambda b)(0)/f(d), of Lambda(0)(b) baryons and B-0 mesons are measured using Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-) and (B) over bar (0) -> D+pi(-) decays. The measurements use proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb(-1) at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, recorded in the forward region with the LHCb experiment. The relative production rates are observed to depend on the transverse momentum, pT, and pseudorapidity, eta, of the beauty hadron, in the studied kinematic region 1.5 < pT < 40 GeV/c and 2 < eta < 5. Using a previous LHCb measurement of f(Lambda b)(0)/f(d) in semileptonic decays, the branching fraction B (Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-)) = (4.30 +/- 0.03(-0.11)(+0.12)+/- 0.26 +/- 0.21) x 10(-3) is obtained, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is from the previous LHCb measurement of f(Lambda b)(0)/f(d) and the fourth is due to the (B) over bar (0) -> D+pi(-) branching fraction. This is the most precise measurement of a Lambda(0)(b) branching fraction to date. |

Abstract |
The difference in the angular distributions between beauty quarks and antiquarks, referred to as the charge asymmetry, is measured for the first time in b (b) over bar pair production at a hadron collider. The data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1) collected at 7 TeV center-of-mass energy in proton-proton collisions with the LHCb detector. The measurement is performed in three regions of the invariant mass of the b (b) over bar system. The results obtained are A(C)(b (b) over bar) (40 < M-b<(b)over bar> < 75 GeV/c(2)) = 0.4 +/- 0.4 +/- 0.3%, A(C)(b (b) over bar) (75 < M-b<(b)over bar> < 105 GeV/c(2)) = 2.0 +/- 0.9 +/- 0.6%, A(C)(b (b) over bar) (M-b (b) over bar > 10(5) GeV/c(2)) = 1.6 +/- 1.7 +/- 0.6%,where A(C)(b (b) over bar) is defined as the asymmetry in the difference in rapidity between jets formed from the beauty quark and antiquark, where in each case the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The beauty jets are required to satisfy 2 < eta < 4, E-T > 20 GeV, and have an opening angle in the transverse plane Delta phi > 2.6 rad. These measurements are consistent with the predictions of the standard model. |

Abstract |
A search for B-s(0) -> (D) over bar (0) f(0)(980) decays is performed using 3.0 fb(1-) of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The f(0)(980) meson is reconstructed through its decay to the pi(+)pi(-) final state in the mass window 900 MeV/c(2) < m (pi(+)pi(-)) < 1080 MeV/c(2). No significant signal is observed. The first upper limits on the branching fraction of B (B-s(0) -> (D) over bar (0) f(0)(980)) < 3.1 (3.4) x 10(-6) are set at 90% (95 %) confidence level. |
