Abstract |
Using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb, collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, a new narrow charmonium state, the X(3842) resonance, is observed in the decay modes X(3842) ! D0 D 0 and X(3842) ! D+D. The mass and the natural width of this state are measured to be where the fi rst uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The observed mass and narrow natural width suggest the interpretation of the new state as the unobserved spin-3 3 1 3 D 3 charmonium state. In addition, prompt hadroproduction of the (3770) and 2 (3930) states is observed for the fi rst time, and the parameters of these states are measured to be m (3770) = 3778 : 1 0 : 7 0 : 6MeV where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. |

Abstract |
The B0 K0K0 and B0 s K0K0 decays are studied using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb. An untagged and timeintegrated amplitude analysis of B0 (s) (K+)(K) decays in two-body invariant mass regions of 150MeV/c2 around the K0 mass is performed. A stronger longitudinal polarisation fraction in the B0 K0K0 decay, fL = 0 : 724 0 : 051 (stat) 0 : 016 (syst), is observed as compared to fL = 0 : 240 0 : 031 (stat) 0 : 025 (syst) in the B0 s K0K0 decay. The ratio of branching fractions of the two decays is measured and used to determine B (B0 K0K0) = (8 : 0 0 : 9 (stat) 0 : 4 (syst)) x 10(-7). |

Abstract |
A precision measurement of the B-c(+) meson mass is performed using proton- proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9.0 fb(-1). The B-c(+) mesons are reconstructed via the decays B-c(+)-> J/psi pi(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)pi(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi pp<overbar>pi(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi D-s(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi (DK+)-K-0 and B-c(+)-> B-s(0)pi(+). Combining the results of the individual decay channels, the B-c(+) mass is measured to be 6274.47 +/- 0.27 (stat) +/- 0.17 (syst) MeV/c(2). This is the most precise measurement of the B-c(+) mass to date. The difference between the B-c(+) and B-s(0) meson masses is measured to be 907.75 +/- 0.37 (stat) +/- 0.27 (syst) MeV/c(2). |

Abstract |
Single top-quark production in association with a Z boson, where the Z boson decays to a pair of charged leptons, is measured in the trilepton channel. The proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment from 2015 to 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). Events containing three isolated charged leptons (electrons or muons) and two or three jets, one of which is identified as containing a b-hadron, are selected. The main backgrounds are from t (t) over barZ and diboson production. Neural networks are used to improve the background rejection and extract the signal. The measured cross-section for tl(+)l(-) q production, including non-resonant dilepton pairs with m(l+l-) > 30 GeV, is 97 +/- 13 (stat.) +/- 7 (syst.) fb, consistent with the Standard Model prediction. |

Abstract |
This paper presents a measurement of the production cross-section of aZboson in association withb-jets, in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.6 fb(-1). Inclusive and differential cross-sections are measured for events containing aZboson decaying into electrons or muons and produced in association with at least one or at least two b-jets with transverse momentum p(T)>20 GeV and rapidity vertical bar y vertical bar <2.5. Predictions from several Monte Carlo generators based on leading-order (LO) or next-to-leading-order (NLO) matrix elements interfaced with a parton-shower simulation and testing different flavour schemes for the choice of initial-state partons are compared with measured cross-sections. The 5-flavour number scheme predictions at NLO accuracy agree better with data than 4-flavour number scheme ones. The 4-flavour number scheme predictions underestimate data in events with at least one b-jet. |

Abstract |
A search for Higgs boson pair production via vector-boson fusion (VBF) in the b bbar b bbar final state is carried out with the ATLAS experiment using 126 fb(-1) of proton- proton collision data delivered at root s = 13 TeV by the Large Hadron Collider. This search is sensitive to VBF production of additional heavy bosons that may decay into Higgs boson pairs, and in a non-resonant topology it can constrain the quartic coupling between the Higgs bosons and vector bosons. No significant excess relative to the Standard Model expectation is observed, and limits on the production cross-section are set at the 95% confidence level for a heavy scalar resonance in the context of an extended Higgs sector, and for non-resonant Higgs boson pair production. Interpretation in terms of the coupling between a Higgs boson pair and two vector bosons is also provided: coupling values normalised to the Standard Model expectation of kappa (2V)< -0.76 and <kappa>(2V)> 2.90 are excluded at the 95% confidence level in data. |

Abstract |
Measurements of four-lepton differential and integrated fiducial cross-sections in events with two same-flavour, opposite-charge electron or muon pairs are presented. The data correspond to 139 fb(-1) of root s = 13 TeV proton-proton collisions, collected by the ATLAS detector during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider (2015-2018). The final state has contributions from a number of interesting Standard Model processes that dominate in different four-lepton invariant mass regions, including single Z boson production, Higgs boson production and on-shell ZZ production, with a complex mix of interference terms, and possible contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model. The differential cross-sections include the four-lepton invariant mass inclusively, in slices of other kinematic variables, and in different lepton flavour categories. Also measured are dilepton invariant masses, transverse momenta, and angular correlation variables, in four regions of four-lepton invariant mass, each dominated by different processes. The measurements are corrected for detector effects and are compared with state-of-the-art Standard Model calculations, which are found to be consistent with the data. The Z -> 4l branching fraction is extracted, giving a value of (4.41 +/- 0.30) x 10(-6). Constraints on effective field theory parameters and a model based on a spontaneously broken B – L gauge symmetry are also evaluated. Further reinterpretations can be performed with the provided information. |

Abstract |
A search for long-lived particles, which have come to rest within the ATLAS detector, is presented. The subsequent decays of these particles can produce high-momentum jets, resulting in large out-of-time energy deposits in the ATLAS calorimeters. These decays are detected using data collected during periods in the LHC bunch structure when collisions are absent. The analysed dataset is composed of events from proton-proton collisions produced by the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13TeV and recorded by the ATLAS experiment during 2017 and 2018. The dataset used for this search corresponds to a total live time of 579 hours. The results of this search are used to derive lower limits on the mass of gluino R-hadrons, assuming a branching fraction B((g) over tilde -> q (q) over bar(chi) over tilde (0)(1)) = 100%, with masses of up to 1.4TeV excluded for gluino lifetimes of 10(-5) to 10(3) s. |

Abstract |
A search for supersymmetry in events with four or more charged leptons (electrons, muons and tau-leptons) is presented. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to 139 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions delivered by the Large Hadron Collider at root s = 13 TeV and recorded by the ATLAS detector. Four-lepton signal regions with up to two hadronically decaying tau-leptons are designed to target several supersymmetric models, while a general five-lepton signal region targets any new physics phenomena leading to a final state with five charged leptons. Data yields are consistent with Standard Model expectations and results are used to set upper limits on contributions from processes beyond the Standard Model. Exclusion limits are set at the 95% confidence level in simplified models of general gauge-mediated supersymmetry, excluding higgsino masses up to 540 GeV. In R-parity-violating simplified models with decays of the lightest supersymmetric particle to charged leptons, lower limits of 1.6 TeV, 1.2 TeV, and 2.5 TeV are placed on wino, slepton and gluino masses, respectively. |

Abstract |
This article presents a new set of proton parton distribution functions, AT-LASepWZVjet20, produced in an analysis at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD. The new data sets considered are the measurements of W+ and W- boson and Z boson production in association with jets in pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV performed by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC with integrated luminosities of 20.2 fb(-1) and 19.9 fb(-1), respectively. The analysis also considers the ATLAS measurements of differential W-+/- and Z boson production at root s = 7 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb(-1) and deep-inelastic-scattering data from e(+/-) p collisions at the HERA accelerator. An improved determination of the sea-quark densities at high Bjorken x is shown, while confirming a strange-quark density similar in size to the up- and down-sea-quark densities in the range x less than or similar to 0.02 found by previous ATLAS analyses. |
