Abstract: We propose a minimal model based on lepton number symmetry (and violation), to address a common origin of baryon asymmetry, dark matter and neutrino mass generation. The model consists of a vectorlike fermion to constitute the dark sector, three right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) to dictate leptogenesis and neutrino mass, while an additional complex scalar is assumed to be present in the early Universe the decay of which produces both dark matter and RHNs via lepton number violating and lepton number conserving interactions respectively. Interestingly, the presence of the same scalar helps in making the electroweak vacuum stable until the Planck scale. The unnatural largeness and smallness of the parameters required to describe correct experimental limits are attributed to lepton number violation. The allowed parameter space of the model is illustrated via a numerical scan.

Abstract: If neutrinos get mass through the exchange of lepton mediators, as in seesaw schemes, the neutrino appearance probabilities in oscillation experiments are modified due to effective nonunitarity of the lepton mixing matrix. This also leads to new CP phases and an ambiguity in underpinning the “conventional” phase of the three-neutrino paradigm. We study the CP sensitivities of various setups based at the European Spallation Source neutrino super-beam (ESSnuSB) experiment in the presence of nonunitarity. We also examine its potential in constraining the associated new physics parameters. Moreover, we show how the combination of DUNE and ESSnuSB can help further improve the sensitivities on the nonunitarity parameters.

Abstract: Mixing effects on the mass spectrum of light neutral pseudoscalar and vector mesons in the presence of an external uniform magnetic field (B) over right arrow are studied in the framework of a two-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL)-like model. The model includes isoscalar and isovector couplings both in the scalar-pseudoscalar and vector sectors, and also incorporates flavor mixing through a ' t Hooft-like term. Numerical results for the B dependence of meson masses are compared with present lattice QCD results. In particular, it is shown that the mixing between pseudoscalar and vector meson states leads to a significant reduction of the mass of the lightest state. The role of chiral symmetry and the effect of the alignment of quark magnetic moments in the presence of the magnetic field are discussed.

Abstract: We perform a theoretical study of the D-s(+) ->pi(+)pi(+)pi(-)eta decay. We look first at the basic D-s(+) decay at the quark level from external and internal emission. Then we hadronize a pair or two pairs of q (q) over bar states to have mesons at the end. Posteriorly the pairs of mesons are allowed to undergo final state interaction, by means of which the a(0)(980), f(0)(980), a(1)(1260), and b(1)(1235) resonances are dynamically generated. The G parity is used as a filter of the possible channels, and from those with negative G parity only the ones that can lead to pi(+)pi(+)pi(-)eta at the final state are kept. Using transition amplitudes from the chiral unitary approach that generates these resonances and a few free parameters, we obtain a fair reproduction of the six mass distributions reported in the BESIII experiment.

Abstract: We study the time evolution of the numbers of charm mesons after the kinetic freeze-out of the hadron gas produced by a central heavy-ion collision. The pi D* -> pi D* reaction rates have t-channel singularities that give contributions inversely proportional to the thermal width of the D. The ratio of the D0 and D+ production rates can differ significantly from those predicted using the measured D* branching fractions.

Abstract: We construct an extension of the Standard Model with a scalar leptoquark Q iota similar to (3,1, – 13) and the discrete flavor symmetry Gf _ D17 x Z17 to explain anomalies observed in charged-current semileptonic B meson decays and in the muon anomalous magnetic moment, together with the charged fermion masses and quark mixing. The symmetry Zdiag 17 , contained in Gf, remains preserved by the leptoquark couplings, at leading order, and efficiently suppresses couplings of the leptoquark to the first generation of quarks and/or electrons, thus avoiding many stringent experimental bounds. The strongest constraints on the parameter space are imposed by the radiative charged lepton flavor violating decays a -mu y and μ-ey. A detailed analytical and numerical study demonstrates the feasibility to simultaneously explain the data on the lepton flavor universality ratios R(D) and R(D*) and the muon anomalous magnetic moment, while passing the experimental bounds from all other considered flavor observables.

Abstract: We describe the formalism to analyze the mathematical ambiguities arising in partial-wave analysis of two spinless mesons produced with a linearly polarized photon beam. We show that partial waves are uniquely defined when all accessible observables are considered, for a wave set which includes S and D waves. The inclusion of higher partial waves does not affect our results, and we conclude that there are no mathematical ambiguities in partial-wave analysis of two mesons produced with a linearly polarized photon beam. We present Monte Carlo simulations to illustrate our results.

Abstract: Muon neutrino and antineutrino disappearance probabilities are identical in the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework, but CPT violation and nonstandard interactions can violate this symmetry. In this work we report the measurements of sin2 theta 23 and Delta m232 independently for neutrinos and antineutrinos. The aforementioned symmetry violation would manifest as an inconsistency in the neutrino and antineutrino oscillation parameters. The analysis discussed here uses a total of 1.97 x 1021 and 1.63 x 1021 protons on target taken with a neutrino and antineutrino beam respectively, and benefits from improved flux and cross section models, new near-detector samples and more than double the data reducing the overall uncertainty of the result. No significant deviation is observed, consistent with the standard neutrino oscillation picture.

Abstract: The vector-boson production cross section for the Higgs boson decay in the H -> WW* -> e nu μnu channel is measured as a function of kinematic observables sensitive to the Higgs boson production and decay properties as well as integrated in a fiducial phase space. The analysis is performed using the proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector in Run 2 of the LHC at root s = 13 TeV center-of-mass energy, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). The different flavor final state is studied by selecting an electron and a muon originating from a pair of W bosons and compatible with the Higgs boson decay. The data are corrected for the effects of detector inefficiency and resolution, and the measurements are compared with different state-of-the-art theoretical predictions. The differential cross sections are used to constrain anomalous interactions described by dimension-six operators in an effective field theory.

Abstract: The decay E-b -> A0bx-- is observed using a proton-proton collision data sample collected at center-of-ffiffimass energy p s 1/4 13 TeV with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.5 fb-1. This process is mediated by the s -> uu over bar d quark-level transition, where the b quark in the E-b baryon is a spectator in the decay. Averaging the results obtained using the two A0b decay modes, A0b -> A thorn c x-- and A0b -> A thorn c x--x- thorn x--, the relative production ratio is measured to be ofE-b =fA0b thorn BoE-b -> A0bx-- thorn 1/4 o7.3 ⠂ 0.8 ⠂ 0.6 thorn x 10-4. Here the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and fE-bofA0b thorn is the fragmentation fraction for a b quark into a E-b (A0b) baryon. Using an independent measurement of fE-b =fA0b, the branching fraction BoE-b -> A0bx-- thorn 1/4 o0.89 ⠂ 0.10 ⠂ 0.07 ⠂ 0.29 thorn % is obtained, where the last uncertainty is due to the assumed SU(3) flavor symmetry in the determination of fE-b =fA0b.
