Abstract: In this paper, we present results at next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD for photon pair production in association with two jets via vector boson scattering within the Standard Model (SM), and also in an effective field theory framework with anomalous gauge coupling effects via bosonic dimension-6 and 8 operators. We observe that, com- pared to other processes in the class of two electroweak (EW) vector boson production in association with two jets, more exclusive cuts are needed in order to suppress the SM QCD-induced background channel. As expected, the NLO QCD corrections reduce the scale uncertainties considerably. Using a well-motivated dynamical scale choice, we find moderate K -factors for the EW-induced process while the QCD-induced channel receives much larger corrections. Furthermore, we observe that applying a cut of Delta phi(cut)(j2 gamma 1) <2.5 for the second hardest jet and the hardest photon helps to increase the signal significance and reduces the impact of higher-order QCD corrections.

Abstract: The stringent experimental bound on μ-> e gamma is compatible with a simultaneous and sizable new physics contribution to the electron and muon anomalous magnetic moments (g – 2)(l) (l = e, mu), only if we assume a non-trivial flavor structure of the dipole operator coefficients. We propose a mechanism in which the realization of the (g – 2)(l) correction is manifestly related to the mass generation through a flavor symmetry. A radiative flavon correction to the fermion mass gives a contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment. In this framework, we introduce a chiral enhancement from a non-trivial O(1) quartic coupling of the scalar potential. We show that the muon and electron anomalies can be simultaneously explained in a vast region of the parameter space with predicted vector-like mediators of masses as large as M chi is an element of [0.6, 2.5] TeV.

Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of the Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi Lambda angular distribution and the transverse production polarisation of Lambda(0)(b) baryons in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13TeV. The measurements are performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb experiment. The polarisation is determined in a fiducial region of Lambda(0)(b) transverse momentum and pseudorapidity of 1 < p(T) < 20 GeV/c and 2 < eta < 5, respectively. The data are consistent with Lambda(0)(b) baryons being produced unpolarised in this region. The parity-violating asymmetry parameter of the Lambda -> p pi(-) decay is also determined from the data and its value is found to be consistent with a recent measurement by the BES III collaboration.

Abstract: A new baryon state is observed in the Lambda(0)(b)pi(+)pi(-) mass spectrum with high significance using a data sample of pp collisions, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies root s = 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The mass and natural width of the new state are measured to be m = 6072.3 +/- 2.9 +/- 0.6 +/- 0.2 MeV, Gamma = 72 +/- 11 +/- 2 MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The third uncertainty for the mass is due to imprecise knowledge of the Lambda(0)(b) baryon mass. The new state is consistent with the first radial excitation of the Lambda(0)(b) baryon, the Lambda(b)(2S)(0) resonance. Updated measurements of the masses and the upper limits on the natural widths of the previously observed Lambda(b)(5912)(0) and Lambda(b)(5920)(0) states are also reported.

Abstract: A search for supersymmetric partners of gluons and quarks is presented, involving signatures with jets and either two isolated leptons (electrons or muons) with the same electric charge, or at least three isolated leptons. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider between 2015 and 2018, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1), is used for the search. No significant excess over the Standard Model expectation is observed. The results are interpreted in simplified supersymmetric models featuring both R-parity conservation and R-parity violation, raising the exclusion limits beyond those of previous ATLAS searches to 1600 GeV for gluino masses and 750 GeV for bottom and top squark masses in these scenarios.

Abstract: We consider an extension of the Standard Model with two singlet leptons, with masses in the electroweak range, that induce neutrino masses via the see-saw mechanism, plus a generic new physics sector at a higher scale, A. We apply the minimal flavor violation (MFV) principle to the corresponding Effective Field Theory (nu SMEFT) valid at energy scales E << A. We identify the irreducible sources of lepton flavor and lepton number violation at the renormalizable level, and apply the MFV ansatz to derive the scaling of the Wilson coefficients of the nu SMEFT operators up to dimension six. We highlight the most important phenomenological consequences of this hypothesis in the rates for exotic Higgs decays, the decay length of the heavy neutrinos, and their production modes at present and future colliders. We also comment on possible astrophysical implications.

Abstract: We interpret superfields in a functorial formalism that explains the properties that are assumed for them in the physical applications. We study the non-trivial relation of scalar superfields with the defining sheaf of the supermanifold of super spacetime. We also investigate in the present work some constraints that are imposed on the superfields, which allow for non-trivial solutions. They give rise to superschemes that, generically, are not regular, that is they do not define a standard supermanifold.

Abstract: The Scotogenic Model is one of the most minimal models to account for both neutrino masses and dark matter (DM). In this model, neutrino masses are generated at the one-loop level, and in principle, both the lightest fermion singlet and the lightest neutral component of the scalar doublet can be viable DM candidates. However, the correct DM relic abundance can only be obtained in somewhat small regions of the parameter space, as there are strong constraints stemming from lepton flavour violation, neutrino masses, electroweak precision tests and direct detection. For the case of scalar DM, a sufficiently large lepton-number-violating coupling is required, whereas for fermionic DM, coannihilations are typically necessary. In this work, we study how the new scalar singlet modifies the phenomenology of the Scotogenic Model, particularly in the case of scalar DM. We find that the new singlet modifies both the phenomenology of neutrino masses and scalar DM, and opens up a large portion of the parameter space of the original model.

Abstract: The Loop-Tree Duality (LTD) theorem is an innovative technique to deal with multi-loop scattering amplitudes, leading to integrand-level representations over a Euclidean space. In this article, we review the last developments concerning this framework, focusing on the manifestly causal representation of multi-loop Feynman integrals and scattering amplitudes, and the definition of dual local counter-terms to cancel infrared singularities.

Abstract: In this article, we report phenomenological studies about the impact of O(alpha) corrections to diphoton production at hadron colliders. We explore the application of the Abelianized version of the qT-subtraction method to efficiently compute NLO QED contributions, taking advantage of the symmetries relating QCD and QED corrections. We analyze the experimental consequences due to the selection criteria and we find percent-level deviations for M-gamma gamma > 1TeV. An accurate description of the tail of the invariant mass distribution is very important for new physics searches which have the diphoton process as one of their main backgrounds. Moreover, we emphasize the importance of properly dealing with the observable photons by reproducing the experimental conditions applied to the event reconstruction.
