Abstract |
We study the implications of the recent measurements of R-K and R-K* by the LHCb Collaboration. We do that by adopting a model-independent approach based on the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT), with the dominant new physics (NP) effects encoded in the coefficients of dimension-6 operators respecting the full Standard Model (SM) gauge symmetry. After providing simplified expressions for R-K and R-K*, we determine the implications of the recent LHCb results for these observables on the coefficients of the SMEFT operators at low and high energies. We also take into account all b -> sll data, which combined lead to effective NP scenarios with SM pulls in excess of 5 sigma. Thus, the operators discussed in this paper would be the first dimension-6 terms in the SM Lagrangian to be detected experimentally. Indirect constraints on these operators are also discussed. The results of this paper transcend the singularity of the present situation and set a standard for future analyses in b -> s transitions when the NP is assumed to lie above the electroweak scale. |

Abstract |
In recent years, several observables associated to semileptonic b -> s processes have been found to depart from their predicted values in the Standard Model, including a few tantalizing hints of lepton flavor universality violation. In this work, we consider an existing model with a massive Z' boson that addresses the anomalies in b -> s transitions and extend it with a nontrivial embedding of neutrino masses. We analyze lepton flavor-violating effects, induced by the nonuniversal interaction associated to the b -> s anomalies and by the new physics associated to the neutrino mass generation, and determine the expected ranges for the most relevant observables. |

Abstract |
Many new physics scenarios contain ultralight scalars, states which are either exactly massless or much lighter than any other massive particle in the model. Axions and majorons constitute well-motivated examples of this type of particle. In this work, we explore the phenomenology of these states in low-energy leptonic observables. After adopting a model independent approach that includes both scalar and pseudoscalar interactions, we briefly discuss the current limits on the diagonal couplings to charged leptons and consider processes in which the ultralight scalar phi is directly produced, such as μ-> e phi, or acts as a mediator, as in tau -> μμmu. Contributions to the charged leptons magnetic and electric moments are studied as well. |

Abstract |
After developing a general criterion for deciding which neutrino mass models belong to the category of inverse seesaw models, we apply it to obtain the Dirac analogue of the canonical Majorana inverse seesaw model. We then generalize the inverse seesaw model and obtain a class of inverse seesaw mechanisms both for Majorana and Dirac neutrinos. We further show that many of the models have double or multiple suppressions coming from tiny symmetry breaking “mu -parameters”. These models can be tested both in colliders and with the observation of lepton flavour violating processes. |

Abstract |
The lepton sector of the Standard Model is at present haunted by several intriguing anomalies, including an emerging pattern of deviations in b ? sll processes, with hints of lepton flavor universality violation, and a discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment. More importantly, it cannot explain neutrino oscillation data, which necessarily imply the existence of nonzero neutrino masses and lepton mixings. We propose a model that accommodates all the aforementioned anomalies, induces neutrino masses and provides a testable dark matter candidate. This is achieved by introducing a dark sector contributing to the observables of interest at the 1-loop level. Our setup provides a very economical explanation to all these open questions in particle physics and is compatible with the current experimental constraints. |
