Title Constraints on the unitarity triangle angle gamma from Dalitz plot analysis of B-0 -> DK+pi(-) decays Type Journal Article

Abstract The first study is presented of CP violation with an amplitude analysis of the Dalitz plot of B-0 -> DK+pi(-) decays, with D -> K+pi(-), K+K-, and pi(+)pi(-). The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to 3.0 fb(-1) of pp collisions collected with the LHCb detector. No significant CP violation effect is seen, and constraints are placed on the angle gamma of the unitarity triangle formed from elements of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix. Hadronic parameters associated with the B-0 -> DK*(892)(0) decay are determined for the first time. These measurements can be used to improve the sensitivity to gamma of existing and future studies of the B-0 -> DK*(892)(0) decay.

Title Measurement of the neutral D meson mixing parameters in a time-dependent amplitude analysis of the D-0 -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0) decay Type Journal Article

Abstract We perform the first measurement on the D-0 – (D) over bar (0) mixing parameters using a time-dependent amplitude analysis of the decay D-0 -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0). The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the Upsilon(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 468.1 fb(-1). The neutral D meson candidates are selected from D*(2010)(+) -> D-0 pi(+)(s) decays where the flavor at the production is identified by the charge of the low-momentum pion, pi(+)(s). The measured mixing parameters are x = (1.5 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.6)% and y = (0.2 +/- 0.9 +/- 0.5)%, where the quoted uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Title Measurements of the S-wave fraction in B-0 -> K+ pi(-) mu(+) mu(-) decays and the B-0 -> K*(892)(0) mu(+) mu(-) differential branching fraction Type Journal Article

Abstract A measurement of the differential branching fraction of the decay B-0 -> K* (892)(0) mu(+)mu(-) is presented together with a determination of the S-wave fraction of the K+ pi(-) system in the decay B-0 -> K+ pi-mu(+)mu(-). The analysis is based on pp-collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb experiment. The measurements are made in bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system, q(2). Precise theoretical predictions for the differential branching fraction of B-0 -> K* (892)(0) mu(+) mu(-) decays are available for the q(2) region 1.1 < q(2) < 6.0 GeV2/c(4). In this q(2) region, for the K+pi(-) invariant mass range 796 < m(K pi) < 996MeV/c(2), the S-wave fraction of the K+pi(-) system in B-0 -> K+pi(-)mu(+)mu(-) decays is found to be F-S – 0.101 +/- 0.017(stat) +/- 0: 009(syst), and the differential branching fraction of B-0 -> K* (892)(0) mu(+)mu(-) decays is determined to be dB/dq(2) = (0.392(-0.019)(+ 0.020)(stat) +/- 0.010(syst) +/- 0.027(norm)) x 10(-7) c(4)/GeV2. The differential branching fraction measurements presented are the most precise to date and are found to be in agreement with Standard Model predictions.

Title Observation of B-c(+) -> (DK+)-K-0 Decays Type Journal Article

Abstract Using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1), recorded by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the B-c(+) -> (DK+)-K-0 decay is observed with a statistical significance of 5.1 standard deviations. By normalizing to B-c(+) -> (D) over bar (0)pi(+) decays, a measurement of the branching fraction multiplied by the production rates for B-c(+) relative to B+ mesons in the LHCb acceptance is obtained, R-D0K = (f(c)/f(u)) x B(B-c(+) -> (DK+)-K-0) = (9.3(-2.5)(+2.8) +/- 0.6) x 10(-7), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This decay is expected to proceed predominantly through weak annihilation and penguin amplitudes, and is the first B-c(+) decay of this nature to be observed.

Abstract A highly significant structure is observed in the Lambda K-+(c)-pi(+)pi(+) mass spectrum, where the Lambda(+)(c) baryon is reconstructed in the decay mode pK(-)pi(+). The structure is consistent with originating from a weakly decaying particle, identified as the doubly charmed baryon Xi(++)(cc). The difference between the masses of the Xi(++)(cc) and Lambda(+)(c) states is measured to be 1334.94 +/- 0.72(stat.) +/- 0.27(syst.) MeV/c(2), and the Xi(++)(cc) mass is then determined to be 3621.40 +/- 0.72(stat.) +/- 0.27(syst.) +/- 0.14(Lambda(+)(c)) MeV/c(2), where the last uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the Lambda(+)(c) mass. The state is observed in a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.7 fb(-1), and confirmed in an additional sample of data collected at 8 TeV.
