Abstract: We present a next-to-leading order QCD calculation for e(+)nu(e)mu(+)nu(mu)jj production in vector-boson fusion, i.e., the scattering of two positively charged W bosons at the LHC. We include the complete set of electroweak leading order diagrams for the six-particle final state and quantitatively assess the size of the s-channel and interference contributions in vector-boson fusion kinematics. The calculation uses the complex-mass scheme to describe the W-boson resonances and is implemented into a flexible Monte Carlo generator. Using a dynamical scale based on the transverse momenta of the jets, the QCD corrections stay below about 10% for all considered observables, while the residual scale dependence is at the level of 1%.

Abstract: From a picture of the X(3872) where the resonance is a bound state of D (D) over bar*- c.c., we evaluate the decay width into the J/psi gamma channel, which is sensitive to the internal structure of this state. For this purpose we evaluate the loops through which the X(3872) decays into its components, and the J/psi and the photon are radiated from these components. We use the local hidden gauge approach extrapolated to SU(4) with a particular SU(4) breaking. The radiative decay involves anomalous couplings, and we obtain acceptable values which are compared to experiments and results of other calculations. Simultaneously, we evaluate the decay rate for the X(3872) into J/psi omega and J/psi rho, and the results obtained for the ratio of these decay widths are compatible with the experiment. We also show that considering only the (D) over bar D-0*(0) – c.c. component in the radiative decay reduces the partial decay width in more than three orders of magnitude, in large discrepancy with experiment.

Abstract: In the present paper we describe the set of form factors for hadronic tau decays based on Resonance Chiral Theory. The technical implementation of the form factors in FORTRAN code is also explained. It is shown how it can be installed into the TAUOLA Monte Carlo program. Then it is rather easy to implement into software environments of not only Belle and BABAR collaborations but also for FORTRAN and C ++ applications of LHC. The description of the current for each tau decay mode is complemented with technical numerical tests. The set is ready for fits, paramxers to be used in fits are explained. Arrangements to work with the experimental data not requiring unfolding are prepared. Hadronic currents, ready for confrontation with the tau decay data, but not yet ready for the general use, cover more than 88% of hadronic tau decay width.

Abstract: We propose applications of radioactive ion beam facilities to investigate physics beyond the Standard Model. In particular, we focus upon the search for sterile neutrinos and the possible measurement of coherent neutrino-nucleus scattering, by means of a low-energy beta beam with a Lorentz boost factor gamma approximate to 1. In both cases, we consider Li-8 and B-8 ions as neutrino sources. In the considered setup, the collected radioactive ions are sent inside a 4 pi detector. For the first application, we provide the number of events associated with neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering, when the detector is filled with a noble liquid. For the sterile search, we consider that the spherical detector is filled with a liquid scintillator, and that the neutrino detection channel is inverse beta decay. We provide the exclusion curves for the sterile neutrino mixing parameters, based upon the 3 _ 1 formalism, depending upon the achievable ion intensity. Our results are obtained both from total rates, and by including spectral information with binning in energy and in distance. The proposed experiment represents a possible alternative to clarify the current anomalies observed in neutrino experiments.

Abstract: We study the possibility that the approximate time shift symmetry during inflation is promoted to the full invariance under time reparametrization t -> (t) over tilde (t), or equivalently under field redefinition of the inflaton phi -> (phi) over tilde(phi). The symmetry allows only two operators at leading order in derivatives, so that all n-point functions of scalar perturbations are fixed in terms of the power spectrum normalization and the speed of sound. During inflation the decaying mode only decays as 1/a and this opens up the possibility to violate some of the consistency relations in the squeezed limit, although this violation is suppressed by the (small) breaking of the field reparametrization symmetry. In particular one can get terms in the 3-point function that are only suppressed by 1/k(L) in the squeezed limit k(L) -> 0 compared to the local shape.
