Title |
Dalitz plot analyses of J / psi -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0), J / psi -> K+ K- pi(0), and J / psi -> (KsK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) produced via e (+) e (-) annihilation with initial-state radiation |

Abstract |
We study the processes e(+)e(-) -> gamma ISRJ (/) (psi), where J / psi pi(+)pi(-) pi(0), J / psi -> K+K-pi(0), and J / psi -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) using a data sample of 519 fb(-1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+) e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Y(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. We measure the ratio of branching fractions R-1 = B(J / psi -> K+K-pi(0))/B(J / psi ->pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)) and R-2 = B(J / psi -> K-S(0) K-+/- p(-/+))/B(J / psi ->pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)). We perform Dalitz plot analyses of the three J / psi decay modes and measure fractions for resonances contributing to the decays. We also analyze the J /psi -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0) decay using the Veneziano model. We observe structures compatible with the presence of rho(1450) in all three J / psi decay modes and measure the relative branching fraction: R(rho(1450)) = B(rho(1450)-> K+K-)/B(rho(1450)->pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.307 +/- 0.084(stat) +/- 0.082(sys). |

Abstract |
We report a Dalitz plot analysis of charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final state K-S(0)pi(1) pi(0) using the full BABAR data set of 470.9 +/- 2.8 million B (B) over bar events collected at the gamma (4S) resonance. We measure the overall branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B(B+ -> K-0 pi(+)pi(0)) = (31.8 +/- 1.8 +/- 2.1(-0.0)(+6.0)) x 10(-6) and A(CP)(B+ -> K-0 pi(+)pi(0)) = 0.07 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.03(-0.03)(+0.02), where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the signal model, respectively. This is the first measurement of the branching fraction for B+ -> K-0 pi(+)pi(0). We find first evidence of a CP asymmetry in B+ -> K*(892)(+) pi(0) decays: A(CP)(B+ -> K*(892)(+)pi(0)) = -0.52 +/- 0.14 +/- 0.04(-0.02)(+0.04). The significance of this asymmetry, including systematic and model uncertainties, is 3.4 standard deviations. We also measure the branching fractions and CP asymmetries for three other intermediate decay modes. |

Abstract |
A search is presented for the four-body decay B-0 -> pp (p) over bar (p) over bar in a sample of 471 million B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector, operated at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+) e(-) collider. The center-of-mass energy is 10.58 GeV. From a fit to the distribution of the energy-substituted mass m(ES), the branching fraction B(B-0 -> pp (p) over bar (p) over bar) = (1.1 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.2) x 10(-7) is extracted, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The significance of the signal, including the systematic uncertainty, is 2.9 standard deviations. The upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be 2.0 x 10(-7) at 90% confidence level. |

Abstract |
Recent investigations have suggested that the six-quark combination uuddss could be a deeply bound state (S) that has eluded detection so far, and a potential dark matter candidate. We report the first search for a stable, doubly strange six-quark state in (sic) > S (Lambda) over bar(Lambda) over bar decays based on a sample of 90 x 10(6)(sic)(2S) and 110 x 10(6)(sic)(3S) decays collected by the BABAR experiment. No signal is observed, and 90% confidence level limits on the combined (sic)(2S, 3S) -> S (Lambda) over bar(Lambda) over bar branching fraction in the range (1.2-1.4) x 10(-7) are derived for m(s) < 2.05 GeV. These bounds set stringent limits on the existence of such exotic particles. |

Abstract |
We present a search for nine lepton-number-violating and three lepton-flavor-violating neutral charm decays of the type D-0 -> h'(-) h(-) l'(+) l(+) and D-0 -> h'(-) h(+) l'(+/-) l(-/+), where h and h' represent a K or pi meson and l and l' an electron or muon. The analysis is based on 468 fb(-1) of e(+) e(-) annihilation data collected at or close to the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. No significant signal is observed for any of the twelve modes, and we establish 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions in the range (1.0-30.6) x 10(-7). The limits are between 1 and 3 orders of magnitude more stringent than previous measurements. |
