Title A model for right-handed neutrino magnetic moments Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Journal of Physics G Abbreviated Journal J. Phys. G
  Volume 37 Issue 7 Pages 075012 - 12pp
  Keywords
Abstract A simple extension of the standard model providing Majorana magnetic moments to right-handed neutrinos is presented. The model contains, in addition to the standard model particles and right-handed neutrinos, just a singly charged scalar and a vector-like charged fermion. The phenomenology of the model is analysed and its implications in cosmology, astrophysics and lepton flavour violating processes are extracted. If light enough, the charged particles responsible for the right-handed neutrino magnetic moments could copiously be produced at the Large Hadron Collider.

Title Information encoding of a qubit into a multilevel environment Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review A Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. A
  Volume 81 Issue 5 Pages 052326 - 6pp
  Keywords
Abstract I consider the interaction of a small quantum system (a qubit) with a structured environment consisting of many levels. The qubit will experience a decoherence process, which implies that part of its initial information will be encoded into correlations between system and environment. I investigate how this information is distributed on a given subset of levels as a function of its size, using the mutual information between both entities, in the spirit of the partial-information plots studied by Zurek and co-workers. In this case we can observe some differences, which arise from the fact that I am partitioning just one quantum system and not a collection of them. However, some similar features, like redundancy (in the sense that a given amount of information is shared by many subsets), which increases with the size of the environment, are also found here.

Title Elementary excitations in superfluid He-3-He-4 mixtures Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. B
  Volume 82 Issue 13 Pages 134529 - 13pp
  Keywords
Abstract We have studied the dynamic structure function of superfluid He-3-He-4 mixtures at zero temperature as a function of pressure and He-3 concentration. Results obtained in the full random-phase approximation (RPA) plus density-functional theory and in a generalized Landau-Pomeranchuk approach are presented and compared with experiment. Analytic expressions for several sum rules of the dynamic structure functions have been determined, and have been used to obtain average energies of the collective excitations. In the RPA approach, the dispersion relation of the collective modes shows typical features of level repulsion between zero-soundlike and phonon-rotonlike excitations. The structure of the coupled RPA equations for the mixture leads in a natural way to the hybridization of the collective modes. The mixed He-3-He-4 dynamic structure function quenches the zero-soundlike mode before it crosses the phonon-roton branch, causing that the former mode only appears with enough strength after the crossing.

Title Present status and first results of the final focus beam line at the KEK Accelerator Test Facility Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review Special Topics-Accelerators and Beams Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Spec. Top.-Accel. Beams
  Volume 13 Issue 4 Pages 042801 - 10pp
  Keywords
Abstract ATF2 is a final-focus test beam line which aims to focus the low emittance beam from the ATF damping ring to a vertical size of about 37 nm and to demonstrate nanometer level beam stability. Several advanced beam diagnostics and feedback tools are used. In December 2008, construction and installation were completed and beam commissioning started, supported by an international team of Asian, European, and U. S. scientists. The present status and first results are described.

Title Gravitino dark matter in the constrained next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model with neutralino next-to-lightest superpartner Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 09 Issue Pages 011 - 20pp
Keywords Cosmology of Theories beyond the SM; Supersymmetric Standard Model
Abstract The viability of a possible cosmological scenario is investigated. The theoretical framework is the constrained next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (cNMSSM), with a gravitino playing the role of the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) and a neutralino acting as the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). All the necessary constraints from colliders and cosmology have been taken into account. For gravitino we have considered the two usual production mechanisms, namely out-of equillibrium decay from the NLSP, and scattering processes from the thermal bath. The maximum allowed reheating temperature after inflation, as well as the maximum allowed gravitino mass are determined.
