Title Measurement of CP violation parameters and polarisation fractions in B-s(0) -> J/psi(K)over-bar*(0) decays Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 11 Issue 11 Pages 082 - 38pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron Scattering; B physics; Flavor physics; CP violation; Branching fraction
Abstract The first measurement of CP asymmetries in the decay B-s(0) -> J/psi(K) over bar*(892)(0) and an updated measurement of its branching fraction and polarisation fractions are presented. The results are obtained using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb (-1) of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Together with constraints from B-0 -> J/psi rho(0), the results are used to constrain additional contributions due to penguin diagrams in the CP-violating phase phi(s), measured through B-s(0) decays to charmonium.

Title IDMS: inert dark matter model with a complex singlet Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of Physics G Abbreviated Journal J. Phys. G
Volume 43 Issue 6 Pages 065001 - 39pp
Keywords CP violation; inert doublet model; complex singlet
Abstract We study an extension of the inert doublet model (IDM) that includes an extra complex singlet of the scalars fields, which we call the IDMS. In this model there are three Higgs particles, among them a SM-like Higgs particle, and the lightest neutral scalar, from the inert sector, remains a viable dark matter (DM) candidate. We assume a non-zero complex vacuum expectation value for the singlet, so that the visible sector can introduce extra sources of CP violation. We construct the scalar potential of IDMS, assuming an exact Z(2) symmetry, with the new singlet being Z(2)-even, as well as a softly broken U(1) symmetry, which allows a reduced number of free parameters in the potential. In this paper we explore the foundations of the model, in particular the masses and interactions of scalar particles for a few benchmark scenarios. Constraints from collider physics, in particular from the Higgs signal observed at the Large Hadron Collider with M-h approximate to 125 GeV, as well as constraints from the DM experiments, such as relic density measurements and direct detection limits, are included in the analysis. We observe significant differences with respect to the IDM in relic density values from additional annihilation channels, interference and resonance effects due to the extended Higgs sector.

Title Observations of Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda K+pi(-) and Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda K+K- decays and searches for other Lambda(0)(b) and Xi(0)(b) decays to Lambda h(+)h '(-) final states Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 05 Issue 5 Pages 081 - 22pp
Keywords Branching fraction; CP violation; Flavor physics; Rare decay; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract A search is performed for the charmless three-body decays of the Lambda(0)(b) and Xi(0)(b) baryons to the final states Lambda h(+)h'(-), where h(') = pi or K. The analysis is based on a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1 of pp collisions, collected by the LHCb experiment. The Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda K+pi(-) and Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda K+K- decays are observed for the first time and their branching fractions and CP asymmetry parameters are measured. Evidence is seen for the Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda pi(+)pi(-) decay and limits are set on the branching fractions of Xi(0)(b) baryon decays to the Lambda h(+)h(-) final states.

Title Model-independent measurement of the CKM angle gamma using B-0 -> DK*0 decays with D -> K (S) (0) pi (+)pi (-) and K (S) (0) K+K- Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 06 Issue 6 Pages 131 - 31pp
Keywords B physics; CKM angle gamma; CP violation; Flavor physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract A binned Dalitz plot analysis of the decays B (0) -> DK*(0), with D -> K (S) (0) pi(+)pi(-) and D -> K (S) (0) K+K-, is performed to measure the observables x(+/-) and y(+/-), which are related to the CKM angle gamma and the hadronic parameters of the decays. The D decay strong phase variation over the Dalitz plot is taken from measurements performed at the CLEO-c experiment, making the analysis independent of the D decay model. With a sample of proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment, the values of the CP violation parameters are found to be x(+) = 0.05 +/- 0.35 +/- 0.02, x(-) = -0.31 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.04, y(+) = -0.81 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.06 and y(-) = 0.31 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.05, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These observables correspond to values gamma = (71 +/- 20)degrees, gamma(B0) = 0.56 +/- 0.17 and delta(B0) = (204(-20)(+21))degrees. The parameters gamma(B0) and delta(B0) are the magnitude ratio and strong phase difference between the suppressed and favoured B-0 decay amplitudes, and have been measured in a region of +/- 50 MeV/c(2) around the K*(892)(0) mass and with the magnitude of the cosine of the K*(892)(0) helicity angle larger than 0.4.

Title Testable baryogenesis is in seesaw models Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 08 Issue 8 Pages 157 - 29pp
Keywords Cosmology of Theories beyond the SM; CP violation; Neutrino Physics; Beyond Standard Model
Abstract We revisit the production of baryon asymmetries in the minimal type I seesaw model with heavy Majorana singlets in the GeV range. In particular we include “washout” effects from scattering processes with gauge bosons, Higgs decays and inverse decays, besides the dominant top scatterings. We show that in the minimal model with two singlets, and for an inverted light neutrino ordering, future measurements from SHiP and neutrinoless double beta decay could in principle provide sufficient information to predict the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. We also show that SHiP measurements could provide very valuable information on the PMNS CP phases.
