Title Search for Cosmic Neutrino Point Sources with Four Years of Data from the Antares Telescope Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Astrophysical Journal Abbreviated Journal Astrophys. J.
Volume 760 Issue 1 Pages 53 - 10pp
Keywords astroparticle physics; cosmic rays; neutrinos
Abstract In this paper, a time-integrated search for point sources of cosmic neutrinos is presented using the data collected from 2007 to 2010 by the ANTARES neutrino telescope. No statistically significant signal has been found and upper limits on the neutrino flux have been obtained. Assuming an E-nu(-2). spectrum, these flux limits are at 1-10x10(-8) GeV cm(-2) s(-1) for declinations ranging from -90 degrees to 40 degrees. Limits for specific models of RX J1713.7-3946 and Vela X, which include information on the source morphology and spectrum, are also given.

Title Observation of Time-Reversal Violation in the B-0 Meson System Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
Volume 109 Issue 21 Pages 211801 - 8pp
Keywords
Abstract Although CP violation in the B meson system has been well established by the B factories, there has been no direct observation of time-reversal violation. The decays of entangled neutral B mesons into definite flavor states (B-0 or (B) over bar (0)), and J/psi K-L(0) or c (c) over barK(S)(0) final states (referred to as B+ or B-), allow comparisons between the probabilities of four pairs of T-conjugated transitions, for example, (B) over bar (0) -> B- and B- -> (B) over bar (0), as a function of the time difference between the two B decays. Using 468 X 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs produced in Y(4S) decays collected by the BABAR detector at SLAC, we measure T-violating parameters in the time evolution of neutral B mesons, yielding Delta S-T(+) = -137 +/- 0.14(stat) +/- 0.06(syst) and Delta S-T(-) = 1.17 +/- 0.18(stat) +/- 0.11(syst). These nonzero results represent the first direct observation of T violation through the exchange of initial and final states in transitions that can only be connected by a T-symmetry transformation.

Title Phenomenology of a supersymmetric U(1)(B-L) x U(1)(R) extension of the standard model with inverse seesaw mechanism Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 86 Issue 9 Pages 093018 - 26pp

Abstract We discuss the minimal supersymmetric U(1)(B-L) X U(1)(R) extension of the standard model. Gauge couplings unify as in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), even if the scale of U(1)(B-L) X U(1)(R) breaking is as low as order TeV and the model can be embedded into a SO(10) grand unified theory. The phenomenology of the model differs in some important aspects from the MSSM, leading potentially to rich phenomenology at the LHC. It predicts more light Higgs states and the mostly left CP-even Higgs having a mass that easily reaches 125 GeV, with no constraints on the supersymmetry spectrum. Right sneutrinos can be the lightest supersymmetric particle, changing all dark matter constraints on supersymmetry parameter space. The model has seven neutralinos, and squark/gluino decay chains involve more complicated cascades than in the MSSM. We also briefly discuss low-energy and accelerator constraints on the model, where the most important limits come from recent Z' searches at the LHC and upper limits on lepton flavor violation.

Title Stellar structure equations in extended Palatini gravity Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 86 Issue 10 Pages 104039 - 8pp

Abstract We consider static spherically symmetric stellar configurations in Palatini theories of gravity in which the Lagrangian is an unspecified function of the form f(R, R μnu R μnu). We obtain the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov equations corresponding to this class of theories and show that they recover those of f(R) theories and general relativity in the appropriate limits. We show that the exterior vacuum solutions are of Schwarzschild-de Sitter type and comment on the possible expected modifications, as compared to general relativity, of the interior solutions.

Title Prediction of D*-multi-rho states Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 86 Issue 9 Pages 094019 - 10pp
Keywords
Abstract We present a study of the many-body interaction between a D* and multi-rho. We use an extrapolation to SU(4) of the hidden gauge formalism, which produced dynamically the resonances f(2)(1270) in the rho rho interaction and D-2* (2460) in the rho D* interaction. We then let a third particle, rho, D*, or a resonance, collide with them, evaluating the scattering amplitudes in terms of the fixed center approximation of the Faddeev equations. We find several clear resonant structures above 2800 MeV in the multibody scattering amplitudes. They would correspond to new charmed resonances, D-3*, D-4*, D-5*, and D-6*, which are not yet listed in the Particle Data Group, which would be analogous to the rho(3)(1690), f(4)(2050), rho(5)(2350), f(6)(2510) and K-3*(1780), K-4*(2045), K-5*(2380) described before as multi-rho and K*-multi-rho states, respectively.
