Title The large N-c limit of QCD on the lattice Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 57 Issue 2 Pages (down) 52 - 19pp
Keywords
Abstract We review recent progress in the study of the large N-c limit of gauge theories from lattice simulations. The focus is not only the planar limit but also the size of O(N-c(-1)) corrections for values of N-c greater than or similar to 3. Some concrete examples of the topics we include are tests of large- Nc factorization, the topological susceptibility, the glueball, meson and baryon spectra, the chiral dependence of masses and decay constants, and weak matrix elements related to the Delta I = 1/2 rule in kaon decays.

Title Non-perturbative momentum dependence of the coupling constant and hadronic models Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 47 Issue 4 Pages (down) 49 - 7pp
Keywords
Abstract Models of hadron structure are associated with a hadronic scale which allows by perturbative evolution to calculate observables in the deep inelastic region. The resolution of Dyson-Schwinger equations leads to the freezing of the QCD running coupling (effective charge) in the infrared, which is best understood as a dynamical generation of a gluon mass function, giving rise to a momentum dependence which is free from infrared divergences. We use this new development to understand why perturbative treatments are working reasonably well despite the smallness of the hadronic scale.

Title Analyzing power of AGATA triple clusters for gamma-ray linear polarization Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 51 Issue 4 Pages (down) 49 - 11pp
Keywords
Abstract We have investigated the ability of AGATA triple clusters to measure the linear polarization of gamma rays, exploiting the azimuthal-angle dependence of the Compton scattering differential cross section. To this aim, partially polarized gamma rays have been produced by Coulomb excitation of the first excited state of Pd-104 and Pd-108, which decay to the ground state by emission of gamma rays of 555.8 keV and 433.9 keV, respectively. Pulse-shape analysis and gamma-ray tracking techniques have been used to determine the position and time sequence of the interaction points inside the germanium crystals. Anisotropies in the detection efficiency have been taken into account using 661.6 keV gammas from a Cs-137 radioactive source. We obtain an average analyzing power of 0.451(34) at 433.9 keV and 0.484(24) at 555.8 keV.

Title Calibration and response function of a compact silicon-detector set-up for charged-particle spectroscopy using GEANT4 Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 57 Issue 2 Pages (down) 49 - 9pp
Keywords
Abstract A complete methodology for detector calibration and energy-loss correction in charged-particle spectroscopy is presented. This has been applied to a compact set-up of four silicon detectors used for beta-delayed particle spectroscopy. The characterisation of the set-up was carried out using GEANT4 Monte Carlo simulations and standard alpha-calibration sources. The response function of the system was in this way accurately determined to be used for spectral unfolding.

Title f(1)(1285) decays into a(0)(980) pi(0), f(0)(980) pi(0) and isospin breaking Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 51 Issue 4 Pages (down) 48 - 8pp

Abstract We evaluate the decay width for the processes f1(1285). p 0 a0(980) and f1(1285). p 0 f0(980) taking into account that all three resonances are dynamically generated from the meson- meson interaction, the f1(1285) from K* K – c. c. and the a0(980), f0(980) from p., K K and pp, K _ K, respectively. We use a triangular mechanism similar to that of.(1405). pp., which provides a decay width for f1(1285). p 0 a0(980) with a branching fraction of the order of 30%, in agreement with experiment. At the same time we evaluate the decay width for the isospin- forbidden f1(1285). p 0 f0(980), which appears when we consider different masses for the charged and neutral kaons, and show that it is much more suppressed than in the.(1405). pp. case, but gives rise to a narrow shape of the p + p- distribution similar to the one found in the eta(1405) -> pi pi eta decay.
