Abstract: We have studied the dynamic structure function of superfluid He-3-He-4 mixtures at zero temperature as a function of pressure and He-3 concentration. Results obtained in the full random-phase approximation (RPA) plus density-functional theory and in a generalized Landau-Pomeranchuk approach are presented and compared with experiment. Analytic expressions for several sum rules of the dynamic structure functions have been determined, and have been used to obtain average energies of the collective excitations. In the RPA approach, the dispersion relation of the collective modes shows typical features of level repulsion between zero-soundlike and phonon-rotonlike excitations. The structure of the coupled RPA equations for the mixture leads in a natural way to the hybridization of the collective modes. The mixed He-3-He-4 dynamic structure function quenches the zero-soundlike mode before it crosses the phonon-roton branch, causing that the former mode only appears with enough strength after the crossing.

Abstract: Delayed gamma-ray cascades, originating from the decay of (6(+)) isomeric states, in the very neutron-rich, semimagic isotopes Sn-136,Sn-138 have been observed following the projectile fission of a U-238 beam at RIBF, RIKEN. The wave functions of these isomeric states are proposed to be predominantly a fully aligned pair of f(7/2) neutrons. Shell-model calculations, performed using a realistic effective interaction, reproduce well the energies of the excited states of these nuclei and the measured transition rates, with the exception of the B(E2; 6(+) -> 4(+)) rate of Sn-136, which deviates from a simple seniority scheme. Empirically reducing the nu f(7/2)(2) orbit matrix elements produces a 4(1)(+) state with almost equal seniority 2 and 4 components, correctly reproducing the experimental B(E2; 6(+) -> 4(+)) rate of Sn-136. These data provide a key benchmark for shell-model interactions far from stability.

Abstract: The first measurement of heavy-flavor production by the LHCb experiment in its fixed-target mode is presented. The production of J/psi and D-0 mesons is studied with beams of protons of different energies colliding with gaseous targets of helium and argon with nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energies of root s(NN) = 86.6 and 110.4 GeV, respectively. The J/psi and D-0 production cross sections in pHe collisions in the rapidity range [2, 4.6] are found to be sigma(J/psi) = 652 +/- 33(stat) +/- 42(syst) nb/nucleon and sigma(D0) = 80.8 +/- 2.4(syst) +/- 6.3(syst) μb/nucleon, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. No evidence for a substantial intrinsic charm content of the nucleon is observed in the large Bjorken-x region.

Abstract: We discuss recent lattice data for the T-cc(3875)(+) state to stress, for the first time, a potentially strong impact of left-hand cuts from the one-pion exchange on the pole extraction for near-threshold exotic states. In particular, if the left-hand cut is located close to the two-particle threshold, which happens naturally in the DD* system for the pion mass exceeding its physical value, the effective-range expansion is valid only in a very limited energy range up to the cut and as such is of little use to reliably extract the poles. Then, an accurate extraction of the pole locations requires the one-pion exchange to be implemented explicitly into the scattering amplitudes. Our findings are general and potentially relevant for a wide class of hadronic near-threshold states.

Abstract: An amplitude analysis of B0 -> J=psi phi K0S decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb-1, collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Evidence with a significance of 4.0 standard deviations of a structure in the J=psi K0S system, named T theta psi s1o4000 thorn 0, is seen, with its mass and width measured to be 3991 thorn 12 thorn 9 -10 -17 MeV=c2 and 105 thorn 29 thorn 17 -25 -23 MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The T theta psi s1 o4000 thorn 0 state is likely to be the isospin partner of the T theta psi s1 o4000 thorn thorn state, previously observed in the J=psi K thorn system of the B thorn -> J=psi phi K thorn decay. When isospin symmetry for the charged and neutral T theta psi s1 o4000 thorn states is assumed, the signal significance increases to 5.4 standard deviations.
