Abstract |
A search for electroweak production of supersymmetric particles is performed in two-lepton and three-lepton final states using recursive jigsaw reconstruction, a technique that assigns reconstructed objects to the most probable hemispheres of the decay trees, allowing one to construct tailored kinematic variables to separate the signal and background. The search uses data collected in 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment in root s = 13 TeV proton-proton collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1). Chargino-neutralino pair production, with decays via W/Z bosons, is studied in final states involving leptons and jets and missing transverse momentum for scenarios with large and intermediate mass splittings between the parent particle and lightest supersymmetric particle, as well as for the scenario where this mass splitting is close to the mass of the Z boson. The latter case is challenging since the vector bosons are produced with kinematic properties that are similar to those in Standard Model processes. Results are found to be compatible with the Standard Model expectations in the signal regions targeting large and intermediate mass splittings, and chargino-neutralino masses up to 600 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level for a massless lightest supersymmetric particle. Excesses of data above the expected background are found in the signal regions targeting low mass splittings, and the largest local excess amounts to 3.0 standard deviations. |

Abstract |
A search is made for a vectorlike T quark decaying into a Higgs boson and a top quark in 13 TeV protonproton collisions using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb???1. The Higgs-boson and top-quark candidates are identified in the all-hadronic decay mode, where H – bb ?? and t – bW – bqq??0 are reconstructed as large-radius jets. The candidate Higgs boson, top quark, and associated B hadrons are identified using tagging algorithms. No significant excess is observed above the background, so limits are set on the production cross section of a singlet T quark at 95% confidence level, depending on the mass mT and coupling ??T of the vectorlike T quark to Standard Model particles. In the considered mass range between 1.0 and 2.3 TeV, the upper limit on the allowed coupling values increases with mT from a minimum value of 0.35 for 1.07 < mT < 1.4 TeV to 1.6 for mT 1/4 2.3 TeV. |

Abstract |
Measurements of electrons from ?e interactions are crucial for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) neutrino oscillation program, as well as searches for physics beyond the standard model, supernova neutrino detection, and solar neutrino measurements. This article describes the selection and reconstruction of low-energy (Michel) electrons in the ProtoDUNE-SP detector. ProtoDUNE-SP is one of the prototypes for the DUNE far detector, built and operated at CERN as a charged particle test beam experiment. A sample of low-energy electrons produced by the decay of cosmic muons is selected with a purity of 95%. This sample is used to calibrate the low-energy electron energy scale with two techniques. An electron energy calibration based on a cosmic ray muon sample uses calibration constants derived from measured and simulated cosmic ray muon events. Another calibration technique makes use of the theoretically well-understood Michel electron energy spectrum to convert reconstructed charge to electron energy. In addition, the effects of detector response to low-energy electron energy scale and its resolution including readout electronics threshold effects are quantified. Finally, the relation between the theoretical and reconstructed low-energy electron energy spectra is derived, and the energy resolution is characterized. The low-energy electron selection presented here accounts for about 75% of the total electron deposited energy. After the addition of lost energy using a Monte Carlo simulation, the energy resolution improves from about 40% to 25% at 50 MeV. These results are used to validate the expected capabilities of the DUNE far detector to reconstruct low-energy electrons. |

Abstract |
We present measurements of the branching fractions of three-prong and five-prong tau decay modes using a sample of 430 million tau lepton pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 468 fb(-1), collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e_e storage rings at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The tau(-) -> (3 pi)(-) eta nu(tau), tau(-) -> (3 pi)(-) omega nu(tau), and tau(-) f(1) (1285)nu(tau) branching fractions are presented, as well as a new limit on the branching fraction of the second-class current decay tau(-) -> pi(-) eta'(958)nu(tau). We search for the decay mode tau(-) -> K- eta'(958)nu(tau) and for five-prong decay modes with kaons, and place the first upper limits on their branching fractions. |

Abstract |
Direct searches for lepton flavor violation in decays of the Z boson with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. Decays of the Z boson into an electron or muon and a hadronically decaying r lepton are considered. The searches are based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1) at a center-of-mass energy of root s = 13 TeV. No statistically significant excess of events above the expected background is observed, and upper limits on the branching ratios of lepton-flavor-violating decays are set at the 95% confidence level: B(Z -> e tau) < 5.8 x 10(-5) and B(Z -> μtau) < 2.4 x 10(-5). This is the first limit on B(Z -> e tau) with ATLAS data. The upper limit on 13(Z -> μtau) is combined with a previous ATLAS result based on 20.3 fb(-1) of proton protoncollision data at a center-of-mass energy of root s = 8 TeV and the combined upper limit at 95% confidence level is B(Z -> μtau) < 1.3 x 10(-5). |

Abstract |
A measurement of the parity-violating decay asymmetry parameter, ab, and the helicity amplitudes for the decay.Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi(mu(+) mu(-)) Lambda(0)(p pi(-)) is reported. The analysis is based on 1400 Lambda(0)(b)and (Lambda) over bar (0)(b) baryons selected in 4.6 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. By combining the.0 b and. _ 0 b samples under the assumption of CP conservation, the value of ab is measured to be 0.30 +/- 0.16(stat) +/- 0.06(syst). This measurement provides a test of theoretical models based on perturbative QCD or heavy-quark effective theory. |

Abstract |
The process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)2 pi(0)gamma is investigated by means of the initial-state radiation technique, where a photon is emitted from the incoming electron or positron. Using 454.3 fb(-1) of data collected around a centerof- mass energy of root s = 10.58 GeV by the BABAR experiment at SLAC, approximately 150000 signal events are obtained. The corresponding nonradiative cross section is measured with a relative uncertainty of 3.6% in the energy region around 1.5 GeV, surpassing all existing measurements in precision. Using this new result, the channel's contribution to the leading order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is calculated as (g(mu)(pi+ pi-2 pi 0) – 2)/2 = (17.9 +/- 0.1(stat) +/- 0.6(syst)) x 10(-10) in the energy range 0.85 GeV < ECM < 1.8 GeV. In the same energy range, the impact on the running of the fine-structure constant at the Z(0)-pole is determined as Delta alpha(pi+ pi-2 pi 0) (M-Z(2)) = (4.44 +/- 0.02(stat) +/- 0.14(syst)) x 10(-4). Furthermore, intermediate resonances are studied and especially the cross section of the process e(+)e(-) -> omega pi(0) -> pi(+)pi(-)2 pi(0) is measured. |

Abstract |
The decay of the narrow resonance (B) over bar (s2)*(0 )-> B(-)K(+)can be used to determine the B- momentum in partially reconstructed decays without any assumptions on the decay products of the r meson. This technique is employed for the first time to distinguish contributions from D-0, D*(0), and higher-mass charmed states (D(0)) in semileptonic B- decays by using the missing-mass distribution. The measurement is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The resulting branching fractions relative to the inclusive B- -> (DX)-X-0 mu(-)(nu) over bar (mu )are f(D)(0)= B(B- -> D-0 mu(-)(nu) over bar mu/B(B- ->(DX)-D- -X-0 mu(-)(nu) over bar (mu))( )= 0.25( )+/- 0.06, f( D)(0 )= B(B- -> (D(0) -> (DX)-X-0)mu(-)(nu) over bar (mu))/B(B--> (DX)-X-0 mu(-)(nu) over bar (mu)) = 0.21 +/- 0.07, with f(D)*(0) = 1 – f(D)(0) – f(D)(0) making up the remainder. |

Abstract |
We report an updated measurement of the nu(mu)-induced, and the first measurement of the (nu) over bar (mu)- induced coherent charged pion production cross section on C-12 nuclei in the Tokai-to-Kamioka experiment. This is measured in a restricted region of the final- state phase space for which p(mu,pi) > 0.2 GeV, cos(theta(mu)) > 0.8 and cos(theta(pi)) > 0.6, and at a mean ( anti)neutrino energy of 0.85 GeVusing the T2K near detector. The measured nu(mu) charged current coherent pion production flux-averaged cross section on C-12 is (2.98 +/- 0.37(stat) +/- 0.31(syst)(-0.00)(+0.49)(Q(2) model)) x 10(-40) cm(2). The new measurement of the (nu) over bar (mu)-induced cross section on C-12 is (3.05 +/- 0.71(stat) +/- 0.39(syst)(-0.00)(+-0.74) (Q(2) model)) x 10(-40) cm(2). The results are compatible with both the NEUT 5.4.0 Berger-Sehgal (2009) and GENIE 2.8.0 Rein-Sehgal (2007) model predictions. |

Abstract |
The branching fraction of the decay B-s(0) -> D-s(()*D-)+(s)(*()-) is measured using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1), collected using the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. It is found to be B(B-s(0) -> D-s(()*D-)(s)(*()-)) = (3.05 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.34)%, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the normalization channel, respectively. The branching fractions of the individual decays corresponding to the presence of one or two D-s(*+/-) are also measured. The individual branching fractions are found to be B(B-s(0) -> D-s*D-+/-(s)-/+) = (1.35 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.09 +/- 0.15)%, B(B-s(0) -> D-s*D-+(s)*(-)) = (1.27 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.14)%. All three results are the most precise determinations to date. |
