Title Analyzing power of AGATA triple clusters for gamma-ray linear polarization Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 51 Issue 4 Pages (up) 49 - 11pp
Keywords
Abstract We have investigated the ability of AGATA triple clusters to measure the linear polarization of gamma rays, exploiting the azimuthal-angle dependence of the Compton scattering differential cross section. To this aim, partially polarized gamma rays have been produced by Coulomb excitation of the first excited state of Pd-104 and Pd-108, which decay to the ground state by emission of gamma rays of 555.8 keV and 433.9 keV, respectively. Pulse-shape analysis and gamma-ray tracking techniques have been used to determine the position and time sequence of the interaction points inside the germanium crystals. Anisotropies in the detection efficiency have been taken into account using 661.6 keV gammas from a Cs-137 radioactive source. We obtain an average analyzing power of 0.451(34) at 433.9 keV and 0.484(24) at 555.8 keV.

Title Calibration and response function of a compact silicon-detector set-up for charged-particle spectroscopy using GEANT4 Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 57 Issue 2 Pages (up) 49 - 9pp
Keywords
Abstract A complete methodology for detector calibration and energy-loss correction in charged-particle spectroscopy is presented. This has been applied to a compact set-up of four silicon detectors used for beta-delayed particle spectroscopy. The characterisation of the set-up was carried out using GEANT4 Monte Carlo simulations and standard alpha-calibration sources. The response function of the system was in this way accurately determined to be used for spectral unfolding.

Title Three methods to detect the predicted D(D)over-bar scalar meson X(3700) Type Journal Article

Abstract In analogy to the f(0)(500), which appears as a pi pi resonance in chiral unitary theory, and the f(0)(980), which appears as a quasibound K (K) over bar state, the extension of this approach to the charm sector also predicts a quasibound D (D) over bar state with mass around 3720 MeV, named as X(3700), for which some experimental support is seen in the e(+)e(-) -> J/psi D (D) over bar reaction close to the D (D) over bar threshold. In the present work we propose three different experiments to observe it as a clear peak. The first one is the radiative decay of the psi(3770), psi(3770) -> gamma X(3700) -> gamma eta eta'. The second one proposes the analogous reaction psi(4040) -> gamma X(3700) -> gamma eta eta' and the third reaction is the e(+)e(-) -> J/psi X(3700) -> J/psi eta eta'. Neat peaks are predicted for all the reactions and the calculated rates are found within measurable range in present facilities.

Title The large N-c limit of QCD on the lattice Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 57 Issue 2 Pages (up) 52 - 19pp
Keywords
Abstract We review recent progress in the study of the large N-c limit of gauge theories from lattice simulations. The focus is not only the planar limit but also the size of O(N-c(-1)) corrections for values of N-c greater than or similar to 3. Some concrete examples of the topics we include are tests of large- Nc factorization, the topological susceptibility, the glueball, meson and baryon spectra, the chiral dependence of masses and decay constants, and weak matrix elements related to the Delta I = 1/2 rule in kaon decays.

Title Conceptual design of the early implementation of the NEutron Detector Array (NEDA) with AGATA Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
Volume 52 Issue 3 Pages (up) 55 - 8pp
Keywords
Abstract The NEutron Detector Array (NEDA) project aims at the construction of a new high-efficiency compact neutron detector array to be coupled with large gamma-ray arrays such as AGATA. The application of NEDA ranges from its use as selective neutron multiplicity filter for fusion-evaporation reaction to a large solid angle neutron tagging device. In the present work, possible configurations for the NEDA coupled with the Neutron Wall for the early implementation with AGATA has been simulated, using Monte Carlo techniques, in order to evaluate their performance figures. The goal of this early NEDA implementation is to improve, with respect to previous instruments, efficiency and capability to select multiplicity for fusion-evaporation reaction channels in which 1, 2 or 3 neutrons are emitted. Each NEDA detector unit has the shape of a regular hexagonal prism with a volume of about 3.23 l and it is filled with the EJ301 liquid scintillator, that presents good neutron-gamma discrimination properties. The simulations have been performed using a fusion-evaporation event generator that has been validated with a set of experimental data obtained in the Ni-58 + Fe-56 reaction measured with the Neutron Wall detector array.

Title Meson-baryon components in the states of the baryon decuplet Type Journal Article

Abstract We apply an extension of the Weinberg compositeness condition on partial waves of L = 1 and resonant states to determine the weight of the meson-baryon component in the Delta(1232) resonance and the other members of the baryon decuplet. We obtain an appreciable weight of pi N in the Delta(1232) wave function, of the order of 60%, which looks more natural when one recalls that experiments on deep inelastic and Drell Yan give a fraction of pi N component of 34% for the nucleon. We also show that, as we go to higher energies in the members of the decuplet, the weights of the meson-baryon component decrease and they already show a dominant part for a genuine, non-meson-baryon, component in the wave function. We write a section to interpret the meaning of the Weinberg sum rule when it is extended to complex energies and another one for the case of an energy-dependent potential.

Abstract We investigate the decay of and with R being the , , resonances. Under the assumption that these states are dynamically generated from the vector-vector interaction, as has been concluded from several theoretical studies, we use a reaction mechanism of quark production at the elementary level, followed by hadronization of one final pair into two vectors and posterior final state interaction of this pair of vector mesons to produce the resonances. With this procedure we are able to predict five ratios for these decays, which are closely linked to the dynamical nature of these states, and also predict the order of magnitude of the branching ratios which we find of the order of , well within the present measurable range. In order to further test the dynamical nature of these resonances we study the and decays close to the and thresholds and make predictions for the ratio of the mass distributions in these decays and the decay widths. The measurement of these decays rates can help unravel the nature of these resonances.

Title States of rho D*(D)over-bar* with J=3 within the fixed center approximation to the Faddeev equations Type Journal Article

Abstract We study the interaction of rho, D* and (D) over bar* with spins aligned using the fixed center approximation to the Faddeev equations. We select a cluster of D*(D) over bar*, which is found to be bound in I = 0 and can be associated to the X(3915), and let the rho meson orbit around the D* and (D) over bar*. In this case we find an I = 1 state with mass around 4340 MeV and narrow width of about 50MeV. We also investigate the case with a cluster of rho D* and let the (D) over bar * orbit around the system of the two states. The rho D* cluster is also found to bind and leads to the D-2*(2460) state. The addition of the extra (D) over bar* produces further binding and we find, with admitted uncertainties, a state of I = 0 around 4000MeV, and a less bound narrow state with I = 1 around 4200 MeV.

Title pp and pi pi intensity interferometry in collisions of Ar+KCl at 1.76A GeV Type Journal Article

Volume 47 Issue 5 Pages (up) 63 - 8pp

Abstract Results on pp, pi(+) pi(+), and pi-pi-intensity interferometry are reported for collisions of Ar+KCl at 1.76A GeV beam energy, studied with the High Acceptance Di-Electron Spectrometer (HADES) at SIS18/GSI. The experimental correlation functions as a function of the relative momentum are compared to model calculations allowing the determination of the space-time extent of the corresponding emission sources. The pp source radii are found significantly larger than the pp emission radius. The present radii do well complement the beam-energy dependences of Gaussian source radii of the collision system of size A + A similar or equal to 40 + 40. The pp source radius at fixed beam energy is found to increase linearly with the cube root of the number of participants. From this trend, a lower limit of the pp correlation radius is deduced.

Title Description of rho(1700) as a rho Kappa(sic) system with the fixed-center approximation Type Journal Article

Abstract We study the system with the aim to describe the rho(1700) resonance. The chiral unitary approach has achieved success in the description of systems of the light hadron sector. With this method, the system in the isospin sector I = 0, is found to be a dominant component of the f (0)(980) resonance. Therefore, by regarding the system as a cluster, the f (0)(980) resonance, we evaluate the system applying the fixed-center approximation to the Faddeev equations. We construct the rho K unitarized amplitude using the chiral unitary approach. As a result, we find a peak in the three-body amplitude around 1732 MeV and a width of about 161 MeV. The effect of the width of the rho and f (0)(980) is also discussed. We associate this peak to the rho(1700) which has a mass of 1720 +/- 20MeV and a width of 250 +/- 100 MeV.
