Title Measurement of the CKM angle gamma and Bs0-Bs0bar mixing frequency with Bs0 -> Ds-/+ h +/ pi+/- pi-/+ decays Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 03 Issue 3 Pages (down) 137 - 46pp
Keywords B physics; CKM angle gamma; CP violation; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Oscillation
Abstract The CKM angle gamma is measured for the first time from mixing-induced CP violation between Bs0 -> Ds -/+ K pi +/- pi -/+ and Bs0bar -> Ds +/- K -/+ pi -/+ pi +/- decays reconstructed in proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1) recorded with the LHCb detector. A time-dependent amplitude analysis is performed to extract the CP-violating weak phase gamma – 2 beta (s) and, subsequently, gamma by taking the Bs0-Bs0bar mixing phase beta (s) as an external input. The measurement yields gamma = (44 +/- 12) degrees modulo 180 degrees, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are combined. An alternative model-independent measurement, integrating over the five-dimensional phase space of the decay, yields gamma = (44 -13+20) degrees modulo 180 degrees. Moreover, the Bs0-Bs0bar oscillation frequency is measured from the flavour-specific control channel Bs0 -> Ds- pi+ pi+ pi- to be m(s) = (17.757 +/- 0.007(stat) +/- 0.008(syst)) ps(-1), consistent with and more precise than the current world-average value.

Title Observation of a new baryon state in the Lambda(0)(b)pi(+)pi(-) mass spectrum Type Journal Article
Year 2020 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 06 Issue 6 Pages (down) 136 - 26pp
Keywords B physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Heavy quark production; Spectroscopy
Abstract A new baryon state is observed in the Lambda(0)(b)pi(+)pi(-) mass spectrum with high significance using a data sample of pp collisions, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies root s = 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The mass and natural width of the new state are measured to be m = 6072.3 +/- 2.9 +/- 0.6 +/- 0.2 MeV, Gamma = 72 +/- 11 +/- 2 MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The third uncertainty for the mass is due to imprecise knowledge of the Lambda(0)(b) baryon mass. The new state is consistent with the first radial excitation of the Lambda(0)(b) baryon, the Lambda(b)(2S)(0) resonance. Updated measurements of the masses and the upper limits on the natural widths of the previously observed Lambda(b)(5912)(0) and Lambda(b)(5920)(0) states are also reported.

Title Measurement of the Lambda(+)(c) to D-0 production ratio in periphera PbPb collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 06 Issue 6 Pages (down) 132 - 26pp
Keywords Charm Physics; Heavy Ion Experiments; Heavy Quark Production; Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics
Abstract We report on a measurement of the Lambda(+)(c) to D-0 production ratio in peripheral PbPb collisions at root sNN = 5.02TeV with the LHCb detector in the forward rapidity region 2 < y < 4.5. The Lambda(+)(c) (D-0) hadrons are reconstructed via the decay channel Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+) (D-0 -> K- pi(+)) for 2 < pT < 8 GeV/ c and in the centrality range of about 65-90%. The results show no significant dependence on pT, y or the mean number of participating nucleons. They are also consistent with similar measurements obtained by the LHCb collaboration in pPb and Pbp collisions at root sNN = 5.02TeV. The data agree well with predictions from PYTHIA in pp collisions at root s = 5TeV but are in tension with predictions of the Statistical Hadronization model.

Title Measurement of chi(c1) (3872) production in proton-proton collisions at root s=8 and 13 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2022 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages (down) 131 - 27pp
  Keywords Hadron-Hadron Scattering
Abstract The production cross-section of the chi(c1)(3872) state relative to the psi(2S) meson is measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of root s = 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 2.0 and 5.4 fb(-1), respectively. The two mesons are reconstructed in the J/psi pi(+) pi(-) final state. The ratios of the prompt and nonprompt chi(c1)(3872) to psi(2S) production cross-sections are measured as a function of transverse momentum, p(T), and rapidity, y, of the chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) states, in the kinematic range 4 < p(T) < 20 GeV/c and 2.0 < y < 4.5. The prompt ratio is found to increase with pT , independently of y. For the prompt component, the double ratio of the chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) production cross-sections between 13 and 8 TeV is observed to be consistent with unity, independent of p(T) and centre-of-mass energy.

Title Search for the lepton flavour violating decay B+ -> K+mu(-)tau(+) using Bs20 decays Type Journal Article
Year 2020 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 06 Issue 6 Pages (down) 129 - 19pp
Keywords B physics; Beyond Standard Model; Flavor physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Rare decay
Abstract A search is presented for the lepton flavour violating decay B+ -> K+mu (-)tau (+) using a sample of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, collected with the LHCb detector and corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The tau leptons are selected inclusively, primarily via decays with a single charged particle. The four-momentum of the tau lepton is determined by using B+ mesons from Bs20 -> B+K- decays. No significant excess is observed, and an upper limit is set on the branching fractionB(B+-> K+mu (-)tau (+))<3.9x10(-5)at90%confidence level. The obtained limit is comparable to the world-best limit.

Title Search for CP violation in the phase space of D0 → π-π+π0 decays with the energy test Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 09 Issue 9 Pages (down) 129 - 24pp
Keywords Charm Physics; CP Violation; Hadron-Hadron Scattering
Abstract A search for CP violation in D-0 -> pi(-)pi(+)pi(0) decays is reported, using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment from 2015 to 2018 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1). An unbinned model-independent approach provides sensitivity to local CP violation within the two-dimensional phase space of the decay. The method is validated using the Cabibbo-favoured channel D-0 -> K-pi(+)pi(0) and background regions of the signal mode. The results are consistent with CP symmetry in this decay.

Title Search for CP violation through an amplitude analysis of D-0 K+K-+- decays Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 02 Issue 2 Pages (down) 126 - 34pp
Keywords Charm physics; CP violation; Flavor physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract A search for CP violation in the Cabibbo-suppressed D-0 K+K-+- decay mode is performed using an amplitude analysis. The measurement uses a sample of pp collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1). The D-0 mesons are reconstructed from semileptonic b-hadron decays into D0-X final states. The selected sample contains more than 160 000 signal decays, allowing the most precise amplitude modelling of this D-0 decay to date. The obtained amplitude model is used to perform the search for CP violation. The result is compatible with CP symmetry, with a sensitivity ranging from 1% to 15% depending on the amplitude considered.

Abstract A precision measurement of the B-c(+) meson mass is performed using proton- proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9.0 fb(-1). The B-c(+) mesons are reconstructed via the decays B-c(+)-> J/psi pi(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)pi(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi pp<overbar>pi(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi D-s(+), B-c(+)-> J/psi (DK+)-K-0 and B-c(+)-> B-s(0)pi(+). Combining the results of the individual decay channels, the B-c(+) mass is measured to be 6274.47 +/- 0.27 (stat) +/- 0.17 (syst) MeV/c(2). This is the most precise measurement of the B-c(+) mass to date. The difference between the B-c(+) and B-s(0) meson masses is measured to be 907.75 +/- 0.37 (stat) +/- 0.27 (syst) MeV/c(2).

  Abstract The decays B+-> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)K(+)are studied using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1)collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions between 2011 and 2018. Precise measurements of the ratios of branching fractions with the intermediate psi(2)(3823), chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) states are reported. The values areBB+->psi 2(“>3823K+xB psi 2(”>3823 -> J/psi pi+pi-BB+->chi c1>3872K+xB chi c1>3872 -> J/psi pi+pi-=>3.56 +/- 0.67 +/- 0.11x10-2,BB+->psi 2>3823K+xB psi 2>3823 -> J/psi pi+pi-BB+->psi>2SK+xB psi>2S -> J/psi pi+pi-=>1.31 +/- 0.25 +/- 0.04x10-3,BB+->chi c1>3872K+xB chi c1>3872 -> J/psi pi+pi-BB+->psi>2SK+xB psi>2S -> J/psi pi+pi-= where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The decay of B+->psi(2)(3823)K(+)with psi(2)(3823)-> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)is observed for the first time with a significance of 5.1 standard deviations. The mass differences between the psi(2)(3823), chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) states are measured to be m chi c1>3872-m psi 2>3823=47. 50 +/- 0.53 +/- 0.13MeV/c2,m psi 2 2S=185.49 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.03MeV/c2, resulting in the most precise determination of the chi(c1)(3872) mass. The width of the psi(2)(3823) state is found to be below 5.2 MeV at 90% confidence level. The Breit-Wigner width of the chi(c1)(3872) state is measured to be Gamma chi c13872BW=0.96-0.18+0.19 +/- 0.21MeV={0.96}_{-0.18}<^>{+0.19}\pm 0.21\;\mathrm{MeV} which is inconsistent with zero by 5.5 standard deviations.
