Title Observation of new resonances decaying to D pi and D*pi in inclusive e(+)e(-) collisions near root s=10.58 GeV Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 82 Issue 11 Pages (down) 111101 - 9pp
Keywords
Abstract We present a study of the D+pi(-), D-0 pi(+), and D*(+)pi(-) systems in inclusive e(+)e(-)-> c (c) over bar interactions in a search for new excited D meson states. We use a data set, consisting of similar to 454 fb(-1), collected at center-of-mass energies near 10.58 GeV by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. We observe, for the first time, candidates for the radial excitations of the D-0, D*(0), and D*(+), as well as the L = 2 excited states of the D-0 and D+, where L is the orbital angular momentum of the quarks.

Title Limits on tau lepton-flavor violating decays into three charged leptons Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 81 Issue 11 Pages (down) 111101 - 8pp
Keywords
Abstract A search for the neutrinoless, lepton-flavor violating decay of the tau lepton into three charged leptons has been performed using an integrated luminosity of 468 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. In all six decay modes considered, the numbers of events found in data are compatible with the background expectations. Upper limits on the branching fractions are set in the range (1.8-3.3) x 10(-8) at 90% confidence level.

Title Collins asymmetries in inclusive charged KK and K pi pairs produced in e(+)e(-) annihilation Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 92 Issue 11 Pages (down) 111101 - 8pp
Keywords
Abstract We present measurements of Collins asymmetries in the inclusive process e(+)e(-) -> h(1)h(2)X, h(1)h(2) = KK, K pi, pi pi, at the center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV, using a data sample of 468 fb(-1) collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC National Accelerator Center. Considering hadrons in opposite thrust hemispheres of hadronic events, we observe clear azimuthal asymmetries in the ratio of unlike sign to like sign, and unlike sign to all charged h(1)h(2) pairs, which increase with hadron energies. The K pi asymmetries are similar to those measured for the pi pi pairs, whereas those measured for high-energy KK pairs are, in general, larger.

Title Search for B- -> Lambda(p)over-bar nu(nu)over-bar with the BABAR experiment Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 100 Issue 11 Pages (down) 111101 - 8pp
Keywords
Abstract A search for the rare flavor-changing neutral current process B- -> Lambda(p) over bar nu(nu) over bar using data from the BABAR experiment has been performed. A total of 424 fb(-1) of e(+) e(-) collision data collected at the center-of-mass energy of the Upsilon(4S) resonance is used in this study, corresponding to a sample of (471 +/- 3) x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs. Signal B- -> Lambda(p) over bar nu(nu) over bar candidates arc identified by fast fully reconstructing a B+ decay in one of many possible exclusive decays to hadronic final states, then examining detector activity that is not associated with this reconstructed B+ decay for evidence of a signal B- -> Lambda(p) over bar nu(nu) over bar decay. The data yield is found to be consistent with the expected background contribution under a null signal hypothesis, resulting in an upper limit of B(B- -> Lambda(p) over bar nu(nu) over bar) < 3.0 x 10(-5) at the 90% confidence level.

Title Hybrid seeding: A standalone track reconstruction algorithm for scintillating fibre tracker at LHCb Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Computer Physics Communications Abbreviated Journal Comput. Phys. Commun.
Volume 260 Issue Pages (down) 107713 - 5pp
Keywords Track reconstruction; Pattern Recognition; LHCb
Abstract We describe the Hybrid seeding, a stand-alone pattern recognition algorithm aiming at finding charged particle trajectories for the LHCb upgrade. A significant improvement to the charged particle reconstruction efficiency is accomplished by exploiting the knowledge of the LHCb magnetic field and the position of energy deposits in the scintillating fibre tracker detector. Moreover, we achieve a low fake rate and a small contribution to the overall timing budget of the LHCb real-time data processing.
