Title Enhanced neutrino emissivities in pseudoscalar-mediated dark matter annihilation in neutron stars Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Astrophysical Journal Abbreviated Journal Astrophys. J.
  Volume 863 Issue 2 Pages (up) 157 - 9pp
Keywords dark matter; neutrinos; stars: neutron
Abstract We calculate neutrino emissivities from self-annihilating dark matter (DM) (chi) in the dense and hot stellar interior of a (proto)neutron star. Using a model where DM interacts with nucleons in the stellar core through a pseudoscalar boson (a) we find that the neutrino production rates from the dominant reaction channels chi -> nu(nu) over bar or chi chi -> aa, with subsequent decay of the mediator a -> nu(nu) over bar, could locally match and even surpass those of the standard neutrinos from the modified nuclear URCA processes at early ages. We find that the emitting region can be localized in a tiny fraction of the star (less than a few percent of the core volume) and the process can last its entire lifetime for some cases under study. We discuss the possible consequences of our results for stellar cooling in light of existing DM constraints.

Title Measurement of Z -> tau(+)tau(-) production in proton-proton collisions at root s=8 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 09 Issue 9 Pages (up) 159 - 19pp
Keywords Electroweak interaction; Forward physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Lepton production; Tau Physics
Abstract A measurement of Z -> tau(+)tau(-) production cross-section is presented using data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb(-1), from pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment. The tau(+)tau(-)candidates are reconstructed in final states with the first tau lepton decaying leptonically, and the second decaying either leptonically or to one or three charged hadrons. The production cross-section is measured for Z bosons with invariant mass between 60 and 120 GeV/c(2), which decay to tau leptons with transverse momenta greater than 20 GeV/c and pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5. The cross-section is determined to be sigma(pp -> Z -> tau+tau-)= 95.8 +/- 2.1 +/- 4.6 +/- 0.2 +/- 1.1 pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is due to the LHC beam energy uncertainty, and the fourth to the integrated luminosity uncertainty. This result is compatible with NNLO Standard model predictions. The ratio of the cross-sections for Z -> tau(+)tau(- )to Z -> mu(+)mu(-) (Z -> e(+)e(-)), determined to be 1.01 +/- 0.05 (1.02 +/- 0.06), is consistent with the lepton-universality hypothesis in Z decays.

Title Measurements of differential cross sections of top quark pair production in association with jets in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV using the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 10 Issue 10 Pages (up) 159 - 58pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Jets; Top physics
Abstract Measurements of di ff erential cross sections of top quark pair production in association with jets by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are presented. The measurements are performed as functions of the top quark transverse momentum, the transverse momentum of the top quark-antitop quark system and the out-of-plane transverse momentum using data from pp collisions at p s = 13TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb. The top quark pair events are selected in the lepton (electron or muon) + jets channel. The measured cross sections, which are compared to several predictions, allow a detailed study of top quark production.

Title Z gamma production in vector-boson scattering at next-to-leading order QCD Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages (up) 160 - 19pp
  Keywords NLO Computations; Phenomenological Models
Abstract Cross sections and differential distributions for Z gamma production in association with two jets via vector boson fusion are presented at next-to-leading order in QCD. The leptonic decays of the Z boson with full off-shell effects and spin correlations are taken into account. The uncertainties due to different scale choices and pdf sets are studied. Furthermore, we analyze the effect of including anomalous quartic gauge couplings at NLO QCD.

Title Measurement of the CP asymmetry in B- -> (Ds-D0) and B- -> (D-D0) decays Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 05 Issue 5 Pages (up) 160 - 17pp
Keywords B physics; CP violation; Flavor physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract The CP asymmetry in B- -> (Ds-D0) and B- -> (D-D0) decays is measured using LHCb data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1), collected in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8TeV. The results are A(CP) (B- -> (Ds-D0)) = (-0.4 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.5)% and A(CP) (B- -> (D-D0)) = (2.3 +/- 2.7 +/- 0.4)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. This is the first measurement of A(CP) (B- -> (Ds-D0)) and the most precise determination of A(CP) (B- -> (D-D0)). Neither result shows evidence of CP violation.
