Abstract: We make use of a self-consistent quark-model based study of four-quark charmonium-like states to interpret recent charmonium experimental data. We conclude that there exists a D*(D) over bar* meson-meson molecule with quantum numbers (I-G) J(PC) = (1(-))2(++). Our study confirms the presence of charged charmonium-like resonances on the excited charmonium spectrum. We find support from recent experimental data by the Belle Collaboration [R. Mizuk et al. (Belle Collaboration), Phys. Rev. D 78, 072004 (2008)]. Confirmation of the experimental data by the Belle Collaboration and the determination of the quantum numbers of the new structures would help in discriminating among different theoretical models and would give further support to the theoretical analysis of T. Fernandez-Carames, A. Valcarce, and J. Vijande [Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 222001 (2009)].

Abstract: We calculate the scattering lengths of Nambu-Goldstone bosons interacting with D mesons in a covariant formulation of chiral perturbation theory, which satisfies heavy-quark spin symmetry and analytical properties of loop amplitudes. We compare our results with previous studies performed using heavy-meson chiral perturbation theory and show that recoil corrections are sizable in most cases.

Abstract: In a previous work regarding the interaction of two rho(770) resonances, the f(2)(1270) (J(PC) = 2(++)) resonance was obtained dynamically as a two-rho molecule with a very strong binding energy, 135 MeV per rho particle. In the present work we use the rho rho interaction in spin 2 and isospin 0 channel to show that the resonances rho(3)(1690) (3(--)), f(4)(2050) (4(++)), rho(5)(2350) (5(--)), and f(6)(2510) (6(++)) are basically molecules of increasing number of rho(770) particles. We use the fixed center approximation of the Faddeev equations to write the multibody interaction in terms of the two-body scattering amplitudes. We find the masses of the states very close to the experimental values and we get an increasing value of the binding energy per rho as the number of rho mesons is increased.

Abstract: I consider the interaction of a small quantum system (a qubit) with a structured environment consisting of many levels. The qubit will experience a decoherence process, which implies that part of its initial information will be encoded into correlations between system and environment. I investigate how this information is distributed on a given subset of levels as a function of its size, using the mutual information between both entities, in the spirit of the partial-information plots studied by Zurek and co-workers. In this case we can observe some differences, which arise from the fact that I am partitioning just one quantum system and not a collection of them. However, some similar features, like redundancy (in the sense that a given amount of information is shared by many subsets), which increases with the size of the environment, are also found here.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the top quark mass and of the top-antitop (t (t) over bar) pair production cross section using p (p) over bar data collected with the CDF II detector at the Tevatron Collider at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 fb(-1). We select events with six or more jets satisfying a number of kinematical requirements imposed by means of a neural-network algorithm. At least one of these jets must originate from a b quark, as identified by the reconstruction of a secondary vertex inside the jet. The mass measurement is based on a likelihood fit incorporating reconstructed mass distributions representative of signal and background, where the absolute jet energy scale ( JES) is measured simultaneously with the top quark mass. The measurement yields a value of 174.8 +/- 2.4(stat + JES)(-1.0)(+1.2)(syst) GeV/c(2), where the uncertainty from the absolute jet energy scale is evaluated together with the statistical uncertainty. The procedure also measures the amount of signal from which we derive a cross section, sigma(t (t$) over bar) = 7.2 +/- 0.5(stat) +/- 1.0(syst) +/- 0.4(lum) pb, for the measured values of top quark mass and JES.
