Title B-0 and B-s(0) decays into J/psi f(0)(980) and J/psi f(0)(500) and the nature of the scalar resonances Type Journal Article

Abstract We describe the B-0 and B-s(0) decays into J/psi f(0)(500) and J/psi f(0)(980) by taking into account the dominant process for the weak decay of B-0 and B-s(0) into J/psi and a q (q) over bar component. After hadronization of this q (q) over bar component into pairs of pseudoscalar mesons we obtain certain weights for the meson-meson components and allow them to interact among themselves. The final state interaction of the meson-meson components, described in terms of chiral unitary theory, gives rise to the f(0)(980) and f(0)(500) resonances and we can obtain the pi(+)pi(-) invariant mass distributions after the decay of the resonances, which allows us to compare directly to the experiments. We obtain ratios of J/psi f(0)(980) and J/psi f(0)( 500) for each of the B decays in quantitative agreement with experiment, with the f(0)(980) clearly dominant in the B-s(0) decay and the f(0)(500) in the B-0 decay.

Title Search for direct production of charginos, neutralinos and sleptons in final states with two leptons and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 05 Issue 5 Pages (up) 071 - 52pp
  Keywords Supersymmetry; Hadron-Hadron Scattering
Abstract Searches for the electroweak production of charginos, neutralinos and sleptons in final states characterized by the presence of two leptons (electrons and muons) and missing transverse momentum are performed using 20.3 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess beyond Standard Model expectations is observed. Limits are set on the masses of the lightest chargino, next-to-lightest neutralino and sleptons for different lightest-neutralino mass hypotheses in simplified models. Results are also interpreted in various scenarios of the phenomenological Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.

Abstract A new accurate determination of beta-delayed neutron emission probabilities from nuclei in the low mass region of the light fission group has been performed. The measurements were carried out using the BELEN 4 pi neutron counter at the IGISOL-JYFL mass separator in combination with a Penning trap. The new results significantly improve the uncertainties of neutron emission probabilities for Br-91, As-86, As-85, and Ge-85 nuclei.

Title Abelian realization of phenomenological two-zero neutrino textures Type Journal Article

Abstract In an attempt at explaining the observed neutrino mass-squared differences and leptonic mixing, lepton mass matrices with zero textures have been widely studied. In the weak basis where the charged lepton mass matrix is diagonal, various neutrino mass matrices with two zeros have been shown to be consistent with the current experimental data. Using the canonical and Smith normal form methods, we construct the minimal Abelian symmetry realizations of these phenomenological two-zero neutrino textures. The implementation of these symmetries in the context of the seesaw mechanism for Majorana neutrino masses is also discussed.

Title Electric dipole moments in two-Higgs-doublet models Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 04 Issue 4 Pages (up) 076 - 42pp
Keywords Higgs Physics; Beyond Standard Model; CP violation
Abstract Electric dipole moments are extremely sensitive probes for additional sources of CP violation in new physics models. Specifically, they have been argued in the past to exclude new CP-violating phases in two-Higgs-doublet models. Since recently models including such phases have been discussed widely, we revisit the available constraints in the presence of mechanisms which are typically invoked to evade flavour-changing neutral currents. To that aim, we start by assessing the necessary calculations on the hadronic, nuclear and atomic/molecular level, deriving expressions with conservative error estimates. Their phenomenological analysis in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models yields strong constraints, in some cases weakened by a cancellation mechanism among contributions from neutral scalars. While the corresponding parameter combinations do not yet have to be unnaturally small, the constraints are likely to preclude large effects in other CP-violating observables. Nevertheless, the generically expected contributions to electric dipole moments in this class of models lie within the projected sensitivity of the next-generation experiments.
