ATLAS Collaboration(Aaboud, M. et al), Alvarez Piqueras, D., Bailey, A. J., Barranco Navarro, L., Cabrera Urban, S., Castillo Gimenez, V., et al. (2018). Search for additional heavy neutral Higgs and gauge bosons in the ditau final state produced in 36 fb(-1) of pp collisions at root s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector. J. High Energy Phys., 01(1), 055–54pp.
Abstract: A search for heavy neutral Higgs bosons and Z' bosons is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1) from proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC during 2015 and 2016. The heavy resonance is assumed to decay to tau(+)tau(-) with at least one tau lepton decaying to final states with hadrons and a neutrino. The search is performed in the mass range of 0.2-2.25 TeV for Higgs bosons and 0.2-4.0 TeV for Z' bosons. The data are in good agreement with the background predicted by the Standard Model. The results are interpreted in benchmark scenarios. In the context of the hMSSM scenario, the data exclude tan beta > 1.0 for m(A) = 0.25 TeV and tan beta > 42 for m(A) = 1.5 TeV at the 95% confidence level. For the Sequential Standard Model, Z'(SSM) with m(Z') < 2.42 TeV is excluded at 95% confidence level, while Z'(NU) with m(Z') < 2.25 TeV is excluded for the non-universal G(221) model that exhibits enhanced couplings to third-generation fermions.

ATLAS Collaboration(Aaboud, M. et al), Alvarez Piqueras, D., Barranco Navarro, L., Cabrera Urban, S., Castillo Gimenez, V., Cerda Alberich, L., et al. (2018). Measurement of the production cross section of three isolated photons in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV using the ATLAS detector. Phys. Lett. B, 781, 55–76.
Abstract: A measurement of the production of three isolated photons in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 8 TeV is reported. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 20.2 fb(-1) collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The differential cross sections are measured as functions of the transverse energy of each photon, the difference in azimuthal angle and in pseudorapidity between pairs of photons, the invariant mass of pairs of photons, and the invariant mass of the triphoton system. A measurement of the inclusive fiducial cross section is also reported. Next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions are compared to the cross-section measurements. The predictions underestimate the measurement of the inclusive fiducial cross section and the differential measurements at low photon transverse energies and invariant masses. They provide adequate descriptions of the measurements at high values of the photon transverse energies, invariant mass of pairs of photons, and invariant mass of the triphoton system.

Helo, J. C., Hirsch, M., & Wang, Z. S. (2018). Heavy neutral fermions at the high-luminosity LHC. J. High Energy Phys., 07(7), 056–23pp.
Abstract: Long-lived light particles (LLLPs) appear in many extensions of the standard model. LLLPs are usually motivated by the observed small neutrino masses, by dark matter or both. Typical examples for fermionic LLLPs (a.k.a. heavy neutral fermions, HNFs) are sterile neutrinos or the lightest neutralino in R-parity violating supersymmetry. The high luminosity LHC is expected to deliver up to 3/ab of data. Searches for LLLPs in dedicated experiments at the LHC could then probe the parameter space of LLLP models with unprecedented sensitivity. Here, we compare the prospects of several recent experimental proposals, FASER, CODEX-b and MATHUSLA, to search for HNFs and discuss their relative merits.s

Caron, S., Gomez-Vargas, G. A., Hendriks, L., & Ruiz de Austri, R. (2018). Analyzing gamma rays of the Galactic Center with deep learning. J. Cosmol. Astropart. Phys., 05(5), 058–24pp.
Abstract: We present the application of convolutional neural networks to a particular problem in gamma ray astronomy. Explicitly, we use this method to investigate the origin of an excess emission of GeV gamma rays in the direction of the Galactic Center, reported by several groups by analyzing Fermi-LAT data. Interpretations of this excess include gamma rays created by the annihilation of dark matter particles and gamma rays originating from a collection of unresolved point sources, such as millisecond pulsars. We train and test convolutional neural networks with simulated Fermi-LAT images based on point and diffuse emission models of the Galactic Center tuned to measured gamma ray data. Our new method allows precise measurements of the contribution and properties of an unresolved population of gamma ray point sources in the interstellar diffuse emission model. The current model predicts the fraction of unresolved point sources with an error of up to 10% and this is expected to decrease with future work.

LHCb Collaboration(Aaij, R. et al), Garcia Martin, L. M., Henry, L., Martinez-Vidal, F., Oyanguren, A., Remon Alepuz, C., et al. (2018). Measurement of CP asymmetry in B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K-/+ decays. J. High Energy Phys., 03(3), 059–28pp.
Abstract: We report the measurements of the CP-violating parameters in B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K--/+ decays observed in pp collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure C-f = 0.73 +/- 0.14 +/- 0.05, A(f)(Delta Gamma) = 0.39 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.15, A(<(f)over) (Delta Gamma)(bar>) = 0.31 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.15, S-f = -0.52 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.07, S-(f) over bar = -0.49 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.07, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the B-s(0) mixing phase, -2 beta(s), to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle gamma from B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K--/+ decays, yielding gamma – (128 (+17)(-22))degrees modulo 180 degrees, where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to 3.8 sigma evidence for CP violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing.
