Abstract: The observation of Higgs decays into heavy neutrinos would be strong evidence for new physics associated to neutrino masses. In this work we propose a search for such decays within the Type I Seesaw model in the few-GeV mass range via displaced vertices. Using 300 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, at 13 TeV, we explore the region of parameter space where such decays are measurable. We show that, after imposing pseudorapidity cuts, there still exists a region where the number of events is larger than O(10). We also find that conventional triggers can greatly limit the sensitivity of our signal, so we display several relevant kinematical distributions which might aid in the optimization of a dedicated trigger selection.

Abstract: The distribution and orientation of energy inside jets is predicted to be an experimental handle on colour connections between the hard-scatter quarks and gluons initiating the jets. This Letter presents a measurement of the distribution of one such variable, the jet pull angle. The pull angle is measured for jets produced in t (t) over bar events with one W boson decaying leptonically and the other decaying to jets using 20.3 fb(-1) of data recorded with the ATLAS detector at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 8 TeV at the LHC. The jet pull angle distribution is corrected for detector resolution and acceptance effects and is compared to various models.

Abstract: Studies of the spin, parity and tensor couplings of the Higgs boson in the H -> ZZ* -> 4l, H -> WW* -> e nu μnu and H -> gamma gamma decay processes at the LHC are presented. The investigations are based on 25 fb(-1) of pp collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at root s = 7 TeV and root s = 8 TeV. The Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson hypothesis, corresponding to the quantum numbers J (P) = 0(+), is tested against several alternative spin scenarios, including non-SM spin-0 and spin-2 models with universal and non-universal couplings to fermions and vector bosons. All tested alternative models are excluded in favour of the SM Higgs boson hypothesis at more than 99.9% confidence level. Using the H -> ZZ* -> 4l and H -> WW* -> e nu μnu. decays, the tensor structure of the interaction between the spin-0 boson and the SM vector bosons is also investigated. The observed distributions of variables sensitive to the non-SM tensor couplings are compatible with the SM predictions and constraints on the non-SM couplings are derived.

Abstract: The decay (B) over bar (0)(s) -> psi(2S)K+pi(-) is observed using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The branching fraction relative to the B-0 -> psi(2S)K+pi(-) decay mode is measured to be B((B) over bar (0)(s) -> psi(2S)K+pi(-))/B(B-0 -> psi(2S)K+pi(-)) = 5.38 +/- 0.36 (stat) +/- 0.22 (syst) +/- 0.31 (f(s)/f(d)) %, where f(s)/f(d) indicates the uncertainty due to the ratio of probabilities for a b quark to hadronise into a B-s(0) or B-0 meson. Using an amplitude analysis, the fraction of decays proceeding via an intermediate K*(892)(0) meson is measured to be 0.645 +/- 0.049 (stat) +/- 0.049 (syst) and its longitudinal polarisation fraction is 0.524 +/- 0.056 (stat) +/- 0.029 (syst). The relative branching fraction for this component is determined to be B((B) over bar (0)(s) -> psi(2S)K*(892)(0))/B(B-0 -> psi(2S)K*(892)(0)) = 5.58 +/- 0.57 (stat) +/- 0.40 (syst) +/- 0.32 (f(s)/f(d)) %. In addition, the mass splitting between the B-s(0) and B-0 mesons is measured as M(B-s(0)) – M(B-0) = 87.45 +/- 0.44 (stat) +/- 0.09 (syst) MeV/c(2).

Abstract: A model for S-wave eta pi scattering is proposed which could be realistic in an energy range from threshold up to above 1 GeV, where inelasticity is dominated by the K (K) over bar channel. The T-matrix, satisfying two-channel unitarity, is given in a form which matches the chiral expansion results at order p(4) exactly for the eta pi -> eta pi, eta pi -> K (K) over bar amplitudes and approximately for K (K) over bar -> K (K) over bar. It contains six phenomenological parameters. Asymptotic conditions are imposed which ensure a minimal solution of the Muskhelishvili-Omnes problem, thus allowing one to compute the eta pi and K (K) over bar form factor matrix elements of the I = 1 scalar current from the T-matrix. The phenomenological parameters are determined such as to reproduce the experimental properties of the a(0)(980), a(0)(1450) resonances, as well as the chiral results of the eta pi and K (K) over bar scalar radii, which are predicted to be remarkably small at O(p(4)). This T-matrix model could be used for a unified treatment of the eta pi final-state interaction problem in processes such as eta ' -> eta pi pi, phi -> eta pi gamma or the eta pi initial-state interaction in eta -> 3 pi.
