Botella-Soler, V., Oteo, J. A., & Ros, J. (2012). Coexistence of periods in a bifurcation. Chaos Solitons Fractals, 45(5), 681–686.
Abstract: A particular type of order-to-chaos transition mediated by an infinite set of coexisting neutrally stable limit cycles of different periods is studied in the Varley-Gradwell-Hassell population model. We prove by an algebraic method that this kind of transition can only happen for a particular bifurcation parameter value. Previous results on the structure of the attractor at the transition point are here simplified and extended.

Botella-Soler, V., & Glendinning, P. (2012). Emergence of hierarchical networks and polysynchronous behaviour in simple adaptive systems. EPL, 97(5), 50004–5pp.
Abstract: We describe the dynamics of a simple adaptive network. The network architecture evolves to a number of disconnected components on which the dynamics is characterized by the possibility of differently synchronized nodes within the same network (polysynchronous states). These systems may have implications for the evolutionary emergence of polysynchrony and hierarchical networks in physical or biological systems modeled by adaptive networks.

Abstract: We analyse the possible presence of New Physics (NP) in the Flavour Sector and evaluate its potential for solving the tension between the experimental values of A(J/Psi KS) and Br(B+ -> tau(+)v(tau)) with respect to the Standard Model (SM) expectations. Updated model independent analyses, where NP contributions are allowed in B-d(0) – (B) over bar (0)(d) and B-s(0) – (B) over bar (0)(s) transitions, suggest the need of New Physics in the bd sector. A detailed analysis of recent Flavour data is then presented in the framework of a simple extension of the SM, where a Q = 2/3 vector-like isosinglet quark is added to the spectrum of the SM. Special emphasis is given to the implications of this model for correlations among various measurable quantities. We include constraints from all the relevant quark flavour sectors and give precise predictions for selected rare processes. We find important deviations from the SM in observables in the bd sector like the semileptonic asymmetry A(SL)(d), B-d(0) -> mu(+)mu(-) and A(SL)(s) – A(SL)(d). Other potential places where NP can show up include A(J/Psi Phi), gamma, K-L(0) -> pi(0)v (v) over bar, t -> Zq and D-0 -> mu(+)mu(-) among others. The experimental data favours in this model the existence of an up vector-like quark with a mass below 600(1000) GeV at 1(2) sigma.

Borja, E. F., Garay, I., & Vidotto, F. (2012). Learning about Quantum Gravity with a Couple of Nodes. Symmetry Integr. Geom., 8, 015–44pp.
Abstract: Loop Quantum Gravity provides a natural truncation of the infinite degrees of freedom of gravity, obtained by studying the theory on a given finite graph. We review this procedure and we present the construction of the canonical theory on a simple graph, formed by only two nodes. We review the U(N) framework, which provides a powerful tool for the canonical study of this model, and a formulation of the system based on spinors. We consider also the covariant theory, which permits to derive the model from a more complex formulation, paying special attention to the cosmological interpretation of the theory.

Borja, E. F., Garay, I., & Strobel, E. (2012). Revisiting the quantum scalar field in spherically symmetric quantum gravity. Class. Quantum Gravity, 29(14), 145012–19pp.
Abstract: We extend previous results in spherically symmetric gravitational systems coupled with a massless scalar field within the loop quantum gravity framework. As a starting point, we take the Schwarzschild spacetime. The results presented here rely on the uniform discretization method. We are able to minimize the associated discrete master constraint using a variational method. The trial state for the vacuum consists of a direct product of a Fock vacuum for the matter part and a Gaussian centered around the classical Schwarzschild solution. This paper follows the line of research presented by Gambini et al (2009 Class. Quantum Grav. 26 215011 (arXiv: 0906.1774v1)) and a comparison between their result and the one given in this work is made.
