Abstract |
We study the problem of infinitesimal deformations of all real, simple, finite-dimensional Filippov (or n-Lie) algebras, considered as a class of n-Leibniz algebras characterized by having an n-bracket skewsymmetric in its n-1 first arguments. We prove that all n > 3 simple finite-dimensional Filippov algebras (FAs) are rigid as n-Leibniz algebras of this class. This rigidity also holds for the Leibniz deformations of the semisimple n = 2 Filippov (i.e., Lie) algebras. The n = 3 simple FAs, however, admit a nontrivial one-parameter infinitesimal 3-Leibniz algebra deformation. We also show that the n >= 3 simple Filippov algebras do not admit nontrivial central extensions as n-Leibniz algebras of the above class. |

Abstract |
We analyze the prospect for observing the intermediate neutral Higgs boson (h(2))in its decay to two lighter Higgs bosons (h(1)) at the presently operating hadron colliders in the framework of the CP-violating minimal supersymmetric standard model using the PYTHIA event generator. We consider the lepton + 4-jets + E-T channel from associate Wh(2) production, with Wh(2) -> Wh(1)h(1) -> l -> l nu lb (b) over barb (b) over bar. We require two, three or four tagged b jets. We explicitly consider all relevant standard model backgrounds, treating c jets separately from light flavor and gluon jets and allowing for mistagging. We find that it is very hard to observe this signature at the Tevatron, even with 20 fb(-1) of data, in the LEP-allowed region of parameter space due to the small signal efficiency, even though the background is manageable. At the LHC, a priori huge standard model backgrounds can be suppressed by applying judiciously chosen kinematical selections. After all cuts, we are left with a signal cross section of around 0.5 fb, and a signal to background ratio between 1.2 and 2.9. According to our analysis this Higgs signal should be viable at the LHC in the vicinity of present LEP exclusion once 20 to 50 fb(-1) of data have been accumulated at root s = 14 TeV. |

Abstract |
The interrelation of the quadrupole deformation and clusterization is investigated in the example of the (56)Ni nucleus. The shape isomers, including superdeformed and hyperdeformed states, are obtained as stability regions of the quasidynamical U(3) symmetry based on a Nilsson calculation. Their possible binary clusterizations are investigated by considering both the consequences of the Pauli exclusion principle and the energetic preference. |

Abstract |
Models of hadron structure are associated with a hadronic scale which allows by perturbative evolution to calculate observables in the deep inelastic region. The resolution of Dyson-Schwinger equations leads to the freezing of the QCD running coupling (effective charge) in the infrared, which is best understood as a dynamical generation of a gluon mass function, giving rise to a momentum dependence which is free from infrared divergences. We use this new development to understand why perturbative treatments are working reasonably well despite the smallness of the hadronic scale. |

Abstract |
Multinucleon transfer cross sections in the (96)Zr+(40)Ca system have been measured, in inverse kinematics, at bombarding energies ranging from the Coulomb barrier to similar to 25% below. Targetlike recoils have been identified in A, Z and velocity with the large solid angle magnetic spectrometer PRISMA. The experimental data for one- and two-neutron transfer channels have been compared with semiclassical microscopic calculations. For the two-neutron transfer channels the relevance of the transitions to the ground state and to the 0(+) excited states of (42)Ca are discussed by employing, for the reaction mechanism, the successive approximation. It is found that the transition to the 0(+) state at similar to 6 MeV, whose wave function is dominated by the two neutrons in the 2p(3/2) shell, is much larger than the ground state one. The comparison with the inclusive data reveals that transitions to states with high multipolarity and non-natural parity are important. This suggests that more complex two-particle correlations have to be incorporated in the treatment of the transfer process. |
