Abstract: We argue that the appearance of additional light rings in a shadow observation – beyond the infinite sequence of exponentially demagnified self-similar rings foreseen in the Kerr solution – would make a compelling case for the existence of black hole mimickers having multiple critical curves. We support this claim by discussing three different scenarios of spherically symmetric wormhole geometries having two such critical curves, and explicitly work out the optical appearance of one such object when surrounded by an optically and geometrically thin accretion disk.

Abstract: The recently discovered P-c(4380)(+) and P-c(4450)(+) states at LHCb have masses close to the (D) over bar Sigma(C)* and (D) over bar*Sigma(C) thresholds, respectively, which suggest that they may have significant meson-baryon molecular components. We analyze these states in the framework of a constituent quark model which has been applied to a wide range of hadronic observables, being the model parameters, therefore, completely constrained. The P-c(4380)(+) and P-c(4450)(+) are studied as molecular states composed by charmed baryons and open charm mesons. Several bound states with the proper binding energy are found in the (D) over bar Sigma(C)* and (D) over bar*Sigma(C) chennels. We discuss the possible assignments of these states from their decay widths. Moreover, two more states are predicted, associated with the (D) over bar Sigma(C) and (D) over bar*Sigma*(C) thresholds. Abstract: We study the eta'N interaction within a chiral unitary approach which includes pi N, eta N and related pseudoscalar meson-baryon coupled channels. Since the SU(3) singlet does not contribute to the standard interaction and the eta' is mostly a singlet, the resulting scattering amplitude is very small and inconsistent with the experimental scattering length. The additional consideration of vector meson-baryon states into the coupled channel scheme, via normal and anomalous couplings of pseudoscalar to vector mesons, enhances substantially the eta'N amplitude. We also exploit the freedom of adding to the Lagrangian a new term, allowed by the symmetries of QCD, which couples baryons to the singlet meson of SU(3). Adjusting the unknown strength to the eta'N scattering length, we obtain predictions for the elastic eta'N -> eta'N and inelastic eta'N -> eta N, pi N, K Lambda, K Sigma cross sections at low eta' energies, and discuss their significance.

Abstract: We show that the tau(-) decay into f(1)(1285) pi(-)nu(tau) is dominated by a triangle loop mechanism with K*, (K) over bar* and K( or (K) over bar) as internal lines, which manifests a strong enhancement reminiscent of a nearby singularity present in the narrow K* limit and the near (K) over bar* K* threshold of the internal K* propagators. The f1(1285) is then produced by its coupling to the K* (K) over bar and (K) over bar* K which is obtained from a previous model where this resonance was dynamically generated as a molecular K* (K) over bar (or (K) over bar* K) state using the techniques of the chiral unitary approach. We make predictions for the f(1)pi mass distribution which significantly deviates from the phase-space shape, due to the distortion caused by the triangle mechanism and the K* (K) over bar threshold. We find a good agreement with the experimental value within uncertainties for the integrated partial decay width, which is a clear indication of the importance of the triangle mechanism in this decay and supports the dynamical origin of the f(1)(1285) as a K* (K) over bar and (K) over bar* K molecular state.

Abstract: Motivated by the reported discovery of inflationary gravity waves by the BICEP2 experiment, we propose an inflationary scenario in supergravity, based on the standard superpotential used in hybrid inflation. The new model yields a tensor-to-scalar ratio r similar or equal to 0.14 and scalar spectral index n(s) similar or equal to 0.964, corresponding to quadratic (chaotic) inflation. The important new ingredients are the high-scale, (1.6-10) . 10(13) GeV, soft supersymmetry breaking mass for the gauge singlet inflaton field and a shift symmetry imposed on the Kahler potential. The end of inflation is accompanied, as in the earlier hybrid inflation models, by the breaking of a gauge symmetry at (1.2-7.1) . 10(16) GeV, comparable to the grand-unification scale.

Abstract: Tensorial non-standard neutrino interactions are studied through a combined analysis of nuclear structure calculations and a sensitivity chi(2)-type of neutrino events expected to be measured at the COHERENT experiment, recently planned to operate at the Spallation Neutron Source (Oak Ridge). Potential sizeable predictions on transition neutrino magnetic moments and other electromagnetic parameters, such as neutrino milli-charges, are also addressed. The non-standard neutrino-nucleus processes, explored from nuclear physics perspectives within the context of quasi-particle random phase approximation, are exploited in order to estimate the expected number of events originating from vector and tensor exotic interactions for the case of reactor neutrinos, studied with TEXONO and GEMMA neutrino detectors.

Abstract: Motivated by the recent observation of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE nu NS) at the COHERENT experiment, our goal is to explore its potential in probing important nuclear structure parameters. We show that the recent COHERENT data offers unique opportunities to investigate the neutron nuclear form factor. Our present calculations are based on the deformed Shell Model (DSM) method which leads to a better fit of the recent CE nu NS data, as compared to known phenomenological form factors such as the Helm-type, symmetrized Fermi and Klein-Nystrand. The attainable sensitivities and the prospects of improvement during the next phase of the COHERENT experiment are also considered and analyzed in the framework of two upgrade scenarios.

Abstract: This work aims at presenting an alternative approach to the long standing problem of the B(E2) values in Sn isotopes in the vicinity of the N=Z double-magic nucleus Sn-100, until now predominantly measured with relativistic and intermediate-energy Coulomb excitation reactions. The direct measurement of the lifetime of low-lying excited states in odd-even Sn isotopes provides a new and precise guidance for the theoretical description of the nuclear structure in this region. Lifetime measurements have been performed in Sn-105 for the first time with the coincidence Recoil Distance Doppler Shift technique. The lifetime results for the 7/2(1)(+) first excited state and the 11/2(1)(+) state, 2(+)(Sn-104) circle times nu 1g(7/2) multiplet member, are discussed in comparison with state-of-the-art shell model and mean field calculations, highlighting the crucial contribution of proton excitation across the core of Sn-100. The reduced transition probability B(E2) of the 11/2(1)(+) core-coupled state points out an enhanced staggering with respect to the B(E2; 2(1)(+) -> 0(1)(+)) in the even-mass Sn-104 and Sn-106 isotopes.

Abstract: The spectrum of the negative-parity spin-1/2 Lambda baryons is studied using lattice QCD and hadronic effective theory in a unitarized coupled-channel framework. A direct comparison between the two approaches is possible by considering the hadronic effective theory in a finite volume and with hadron masses and mesonic decay constants that correspond to the situation studied on the lattice. Comparing the energy level spectrum and SU(3) flavor decompositions of the individual states, it is found that the lowest two states extracted from lattice QCD can be associated with one of the two Lambda(1405)-poles and the Lambda(1670) resonance. The quark mass dependences of these two lattice QCD levels are in good agreement with their effective theory counterparts. However, as current lattice QCD studies still rely on three-quark operators to generate the physical states, clear signals corresponding to the meson-baryon scattering states, that appear in the finite volume effective theory calculation, are not yet seen.

Abstract: The collimation of energy inside medium-modified jets is investigated in the leading logarithmic approximation of QCD. The Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (DGLAP) evolution equations are slightly modified by introducing splitting functions enhanced in the infrared sector. As compared to elementary collisions in the vacuum, the angular distribution of the jet energy is found to broaden in QCD media.
