Abstract |
This work reports that gas chamber geometry and gas flow management substantially affect the neutron production of a repetitive fast plasma focus. The gas flow rate is the most sensitive parameter. An appropriate design of the gas chamber combined with a suitable flow-rate management can lead to improvements in the neutron production of one order of magnitude working in a fast repetitive mode. |

Abstract |
We study theoretically the structure of double pionic atoms, in which two negatively charged pions (pi(-)) are bound in the atomic orbits. The double pionic atom is considered to be an interesting system from the point of view of the multi-bosonic systems. In addition, it could be possible to deduce valuable information on the isospin I = 2 pi pi interaction and the pionnucleus strong interaction. In this paper, we take into account the pi pi strong and electromagnetic interactions, and evaluate the effects on the binding energies by perturbation theory for the double pionic atoms in heavy nuclei. We investigate several combinations of two pionic states and find that the order of magnitude of the energy shifts due to the pi pi interaction is around 10 keV for the strong interaction and around 100 keV for the electromagnetic interaction for the ground states. |

Abstract |
We deliver a scheme to compute the quark propagator and the quark-gluon interaction vertex through the coupled Dyson-Schwinger equations (DSEs) of QCD. We take the three-gluon vertex into account in our calculations, and implement the gluon propagator and the running coupling function fitted by the solutions of their respective DSEs. We obtain the momentum and current mass dependence of the quark propagator and the quark-gluon vertex, and the chiral quark condensate that agrees with previous results excellently. We also compute the quark-photon vertex within this scheme and give the anomalous chromo- and electromagnetic moment of the quark. The obtained results are excellently consistent with previous ones. These applications manifest that the scheme is realistic and then practical for explaining the QCD-related phenomena. |

Abstract |
The cross section of the Y-89(n,gamma) reaction has important implications in nuclear astrophysics and for advanced nuclear technology. Given its neutron magic number N = 50 and a consequent small neutron capture crosssection,89Y represents one of the key nuclides for the stellars-process. It acts as a bottleneck in the neutron capture chain between the Fe seed and the heavier elements. Moreover, it is located at the overlapping region, where both the weak and mains-process components take place.Y-89, the only stable yttrium isotope, is also used in innovative nuclear reactors. Neutron capture and transmission measurements were per-formed at the time-of-flight facilities n_TOF at CERN and GELINA at JRC-Geel. Resonance parameters of individual resonances were extracted from a resonance analysis of the experimental transmission and capture yields, up to a neutron incident energy of 95 keV. Even though a comparison with results reported in the literature shows differences in resonance parameters, the present data are consistent with the Maxwellian averaged cross section suggested by the astro-physical database KADoNiS. |

Abstract |
We report a measurement of cross section sigma(nu(mu) + nucleus. -> mu(-) + X) and the first measurements of the cross section sigma((sigma) over bar (mu) + nucleus -> mu(+) + X) and their ratio R(sigma((nu) over bar)sigma(nu)) at (anti) neutrino energies below 1.5 GeV. We determine the single momentum bin cross section measurements, averaged over the T2K (nu) over bar/nu-flux, for the detector target material (mainly carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and copper) with phase space restricted laboratory frame kinematics of theta(mu) < 32 degrees and p(mu) > 500 MeV/c. The results are sigma((nu) over bar) = (0.900 +/- 0.029d (stat) +/- 0.088(syst) x 10(-39) and sigma(nu) = (2.41 +/- 0.022(stat) +/- 0.231(syst)) x 10(-39) in units of cm(2)/nucleon and R(sigma((nu) over bar)/sigma(nu) = 0.373 +/- 0.012(stat) +/- 0.015(syst). |
