Title DsixTools 2.0: the effective field theory toolkit Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
Volume 81 Issue 2 Pages 167 - 30pp
Keywords
Abstract DsixTools is a Mathematica package for the handling of the standard model effective field theory (SMEFT) and the low-energy effective field theory (LEFT) with operators up to dimension six, both at the algebraic and numerical level. DsixTools contains a visually accessible and operationally convenient repository of all operators and parameters of the SMEFT and the LEFT. This repository also provides information concerning symmetry categories and number of degrees of freedom, and routines that allow to implement this information on global expressions (such as decay amplitudes and cross-sections). DsixTools also performs weak basis transformations, and implements the full one-loop Renormalization Group Evolution in both EFTs (with SM beta functions up to five loops in QCD), and the full one-loop SMEFT-LEFT matching at the electroweak scale.

Title Strong CP problem with low-energy emergent QCD: The 4321 case Type Journal Article

Abstract We analyze the strong CP problem and the implications for axion physics in the context of U-1 vector leptoquark models, recently put forward as an elegant solution to the hints of lepton flavor universality violation in B-meson decays. It is shown that in minimal gauge models containing the U-1 as a gauge boson, the Peccei-Quinn solution of the strong CP problem requires the introduction of two axions. Characteristic predictions for the associated axions can be deduced from the model parameter space hinted by B-physics, allowing the new axion sector to account for the dark matter of the Universe. We also provide a specific ultraviolet completion of the axion sector that connects the Peccei-Quinn mechanism to the generation of neutrino masses.

Title Instanton-mediated baryon number violation in non-universal gauge extended models Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages 134 - 34pp
Keywords Beyond Standard Model; Solitons Monopoles and Instantons; Effective field theories; Global Symmetries
Abstract Instanton solutions of non-abelian Yang-Mills theories generate an effective action that may induce lepton and baryon number violations, namely Delta B = Delta L = nf, being nf the number of families coupled to the gauge group. In this article we study instanton mediated processes in a SU( 2)(l)circle times SU(2)(h)circle times U(1) extension of the Standard Model that breaks universality by singularizing the third family. In the construction of the instanton Green functions we account systematically for the inter-family mixing. This allows us to use the experimental bounds on proton decay in order to constrain the gauge coupling of SU(2)(h). Tau lepton non-leptonic and radiative decays with Delta B = Delta L = 1 are also analysed.

Title Integrating out heavy particles with functional methods: a simplified framework Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 09 Issue 9 Pages 156 - 26pp
Keywords Effective field theories; Beyond Standard Model
Abstract We present a systematic procedure to obtain the one-loop low-energy effective Lagrangian resulting from integrating out the heavy fields of a given ultraviolet theory. We show that the matching coefficients are determined entirely by the hard region of the functional determinant involving the heavy fields. This represents an important simplification with respect the conventional matching approach, where the full and effective theory contributions have to be computed separately and a cancellation of the infrared divergent parts has to take place. We illustrate the method with a descriptive toy model and with an extension of the Standard Model with a heavy real scalar triplet. A comparison with other schemes that have been put forward recently is also provided.

Title Scalar-involved three-point Green functions and their phenomenology Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 99 Issue 11 Pages 114015 - 18pp

Abstract We analyze within the framework of resonance chiral theory the < SA(mu)A(nu >) and < SV μV nu > three-point Green functions, where S, A(mu) and V-mu are short for scalar, axial-vector and vector SU(3) hadronic currents. We construct the necessary Lagrangian such that the Green functions fulfill the asymptotic constraints, at large momenta, imposed by QCD at leading order. We study the implications of our results on the spectrum of scalars in the large-N-C limit, and analyze their decays.
