Abstract |
We measure the mass difference, Delta m(0), between the D*(2010)(+) and the D-0 and the natural linewidth, Gamma, of the transition D*(2010)(+) -> D-0 pi(+). The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the Upsilon(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 477 fb(-1). The D-0 is reconstructed in the decay modes D-0 -> K-pi(+) and D-0 -> K-pi(+)pi(-)pi(+). For the decay mode D-0 -> K-pi(+) we obtain Gamma = (83.4 +/- 1.7 +/- 1.5) keV and Delta m(0) = (145425.6 +/- 0.6 +/- 1.8) keV, where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. For the D-0 -> K-pi(+)pi(-)pi(+) mode we obtain Gamma = (83.2 +/- 1.5 +/- 2.6) keV and Delta m(0) = (145426.6 +/- 0.5 +/- 2.0) keV. The combined measurements yield Gamma = (83.3 +/- 1.2 +/- 1.4) keV and Delta m(0) = (145425.9 +/- 0.4 +/- 1.7) keV; the width is a factor of approximately 12 times more precise than the previous value, while the mass difference is a factor of approximately 6 times more precise. |

Abstract |
We present improved measurements of CP-violation parameters in the decays B-0 -> pi(+)pi(-), B-0 -> K+pi(-), and B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0), and of the branching fractions for B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0) and B-0 -> K-0 pi(0). The results are obtained with the full data set collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, corresponding to (467 +/- 5) x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs. We find the CP-violation parameter values and branching fractions: S pi+pi- = -0.68 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.03, C-pi+pi(-) = -0.25 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.02, A(K+pi-) = -0.107 +/- 0.016(-0.004)(+0.006), C pi(0)pi(0) = -0.43 +/- 0.26 +/- 0.05, B(B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0)) = (1.83 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.13) x 10(-6), B(B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0)) = (10.1 +/- 0.6 +/- 0.4) x 10(-6), where in each case, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We observe CP violation with a significance of 6.7 standard deviations for B-0 -> pi(+)pi(-) and 6.1 standard deviations for B-0 -> K+pi(-), including systematic uncertainties. Constraints on the unitarity triangle angle alpha are determined from the isospin relations among the B -> pi pi rates and asymmetries. Considering only the solution preferred by the Standard Model, we find alpha to be in the range [71 degrees,109 degrees] at the 68% confidence level. |

Abstract |
We report on a search for direct CP violation in the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D+ -> K+K-pi(+/-) using a data sample of 476 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) annihilation data accumulated with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II electron-positron collider, running at and just below the energy of the Upsilon(4S) resonance. The integrated CP-violating decay rate asymmetry A(CP) is determined to be (0.37 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.15)%. Model-independent and model-dependent Dalitz plot analysis techniques are used to search for CP-violating asymmetries in the various intermediate states. We find no evidence for CP-violation asymmetry. |

Abstract |
We search for the decay Upsilon(1S) -> A(0), A(0) -> gg or s (s) over bar, where A(0) is the pseudoscalar light Higgs boson predicted by the next-to-minimal supersymmetric Standard Model. We use a sample of (17.6 +/- 0.3) x 10(6) Upsilon(1S) mesons produced in the BABAR experiment via e(+)e(-) -> Upsilon(2S) -> pi(+)pi(-)Upsilon(1S). We see no significant signal and set 90%-confidence-level upper limits on the product branching fraction B(Upsilon(1S) -> gamma A(0)) . B(A(0) -> gg or s (s) over bar ranging from 10(-6) to 10(-2) for A(0) masses in the range 0.5-9.0 GeV/c(2). |

Abstract |
We present a measurement of D-0-(D) over bar (0) mixing and CP violation using the ratio of lifetimes simultaneously extracted from a sample of D-0 mesons produced through the flavor-tagged process D*(+) -> D-0 pi(+), where D-0 decays to K+pi(+/-), K-K+, or pi(-)pi(+), along with the untagged decays D-0 -> K+pi(+/-) and D-0 -> K-K+. The lifetimes of the CP-even, Cabibbo-suppressed modes K-K+ and pi(-)pi(+) are compared to that of the CP-mixed mode K+pi(+/-) in order to measure y(CP) and Delta Y. We obtain y(CP) = [0.72 +/- 0.18(stat) +/- 0.12(syst)]% and Delta Y = [0.09 +/- 0.26(stat) +/- 0.06(syst)]%, where Delta Y constrains possible CP violation. The y(CP) result excludes the null mixing hypothesis at 3.3 sigma significance. This analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of 468 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. |

Abstract |
Inclusive production cross sections of pi(+/-), K-+/- and p/(p) over bar per hadronic e(+)e(-) annihilation event are measured at a center-of-mass energy of 10.54 GeV, using a relatively small sample of very high quality data from the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B-factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The drift chamber and Cherenkov detector provide clean samples of identified pi(+/-), K-+/-, and p/(p) over bar over a wide range of momenta. Since the center-of-mass energy is below the threshold to produce a B (B) over bar pair, with B a bottom-quark meson, these data represent a pure e(+)e(-) -> q (q) over bar sample with four quark flavors, and are used to test QCD predictions and hadronization models. Combined with measurements at other energies, in particular at the Z(0) resonance, they also provide precise constraints on the scaling properties of the hadronization process over a wide energy range. |

Abstract |
Based on the full BABAR data sample, we report improved measurements of the ratios R(D) = B((B) over bar -> D tau(-)(v) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar -> Dl(-)(v) over bar (l)) and R(D*) = B((B) over bar -> D*tau(-)(v) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar -> D*l(-)(v) over bar (l)), where l refers to either an electron or muon. These ratios are sensitive to new physics contributions in the form of a charged Higgs boson. We measure R(D) = 0.440 +/- 0.058 +/- 0.042 and R(D*) = 0.332 +/- 0.024 +/- 0.018, which exceed the standard model expectations by 2.0 sigma and 2.7 sigma, respectively. Taken together, the results disagree with these expectations at the 3.4 sigma level. This excess cannot be explained by a charged Higgs boson in the type II two-Higgs-doublet model. Kinematic distributions presented here exclude large portions of the more general type III two-Higgs-doublet model, but there are solutions within this model compatible with the results. |

Abstract |
The e(+)e(-) -> p (p) over bar cross section and the proton magnetic form factor have been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 3.0 to 6.5 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. This is the first measurement of the form factor at energies higher than 4.5 GeV. The analysis is based on 469 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider at e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The branching fractions for the decays J/psi -> p (p) over bar and psi(2S) -> p (p) over bar have also been measured. |

Abstract |
We search for di-muon decays of a low-mass Higgs boson (A(0)) produced in radiative Gamma(1S) decays. The Gamma(1S) sample is selected by tagging the pion pair in the Gamma(2S, 3S) -> pi(+)pi(-) Gamma(1S) transitions, using a data sample of 92.8 x 10(6) Gamma(2S) and 116.8 x 10(6) Gamma(3S) events collected by the BABAR detector. We find no evidence for A(0) production and set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product branching fraction B(Gamma(1S) -> gamma Lambda(0)) x B(Lambda(0)->mu(+)mu(-)) in the range of (0.28 – 9.7) x 10(-6) for 0.212 <= m(A0) <= 9.20 GeV/c(2). The results are combined with our previous measurements of Gamma(2S,3S) -> gamma Lambda(0), Lambda(0) -> mu(+)mu(-) to set limits on the effective coupling of the b quark to the Lambda(0). |

Abstract |
We report a search for CP violation in the decay modes D-+/- -> (KSK +/-)-K-0, D-s(+/-) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0, and D-s(+/-) -> K-S(0)pi(+/-) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e(+)e(-) storage rings. The decay rate CP asymmetries, ACP, are determined to be (+0.13 +/- 0.36(stat) +/- 0.25(syst))%, (-0.05 +/- 0.23(stat) +/- 0.24(syst))%, and (+0.6 +/- 2.0(stat) +/- 0.3(syst))%, respectively. These measurements are consistent with zero, and also with the Standard Model prediction [(-0.332 +/- 0.006)% for the D-+/- -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 and D-s(+/-) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 modes, and (+0.332 +/- 0.006)% for the D-s(+/-) -> K-S(0)pi(+/-) mode]. They are the most precise determinations to date. |
