Abstract: A binned Dalitz plot analysis of the decays B (0) -> DK*(0), with D -> K (S) (0) pi(+)pi(-) and D -> K (S) (0) K+K-, is performed to measure the observables x(+/-) and y(+/-), which are related to the CKM angle gamma and the hadronic parameters of the decays. The D decay strong phase variation over the Dalitz plot is taken from measurements performed at the CLEO-c experiment, making the analysis independent of the D decay model. With a sample of proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment, the values of the CP violation parameters are found to be x(+) = 0.05 +/- 0.35 +/- 0.02, x(-) = -0.31 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.04, y(+) = -0.81 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.06 and y(-) = 0.31 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.05, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These observables correspond to values gamma = (71 +/- 20)degrees, gamma(B0) = 0.56 +/- 0.17 and delta(B0) = (204(-20)(+21))degrees. The parameters gamma(B0) and delta(B0) are the magnitude ratio and strong phase difference between the suppressed and favoured B-0 decay amplitudes, and have been measured in a region of +/- 50 MeV/c(2) around the K*(892)(0) mass and with the magnitude of the cosine of the K*(892)(0) helicity angle larger than 0.4.

Abstract: Time-dependent CP asymmetries in the decay rates of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D-0 -> K-K+ and D-0 -> pi (-) pi(+) are measured in pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment. The D-0 mesons are produced in semileptonic b-hadron decays, where the charge of the accompanying muon is used to determine the initial state as D-0 or (D) over bar (0). The asymmetries in effective lifetimes between D-0 and (D) over bar (0) decays, which are sensitive to indirect CP violation, are determined to be A(Gamma) (K-K+) = (-0.134 +/- 0.077(-0.034)(+0.026))%, A(Gamma) (pi(-)pi(+)) = -0.092 +/- 0.145(-0.033)(+0.025))%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. This result is in agreement with previous measurements and with the hypothesis of no indirect CP violation in D (0) decays.

Abstract: The associated production of a Z boson or an off-shell photon gamma* with a bottom quark in the forward region is studied using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7TeV. The Z bosons are reconstructed in the Z/gamma* -> mu(+)mu(-) final state from muons with a transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV, while two transverse momentum thresholds are considered for jets (10 GeV and 20 GeV). Both muons and jets are reconstructed in the pseudorapidity range 2.0 < eta < 4.5. The results are based on data corresponding to 1.0 fb(-1) recorded in 2011 with the LHCb detector. The measurement of the Z+b-jet cross-section is normalized to the Z+jet cross-section. The measured cross-sections are (Z/ (mu+ mu-) + b-jet) = 295 60 (stat) 51 (syst) 10 (lumi) fb (0.1) for p T(jet) > 10 GeV, and (Z/ (mu+ mu-) + b-jet) = 128 36 (stat) 22 (syst) 5 (lumi) fb (0.2) for p T(jet) > 20 GeV.

Abstract: The production of psi(2S) mesons is studied in dimuon final states using proton-lead (pPb) collision data collected by the LHCb detector. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 nb(-1). The nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of the pPb collisions is root s(NN) = 5 TeV. The measurement is performed using psi(2S) mesons with transverse momentum less than 14 GeV/c and rapidity y in the ranges 1.5 < y < 4.0 and -5.0 < y < -2.5 in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system. The forward-backward production ratio and the nuclear modi fi cation factor are determined for psi(2S) mesons. Using the production cross-section results of psi(2S) and J/psi mesons from b-hadron decays, the b (b) over bar cross-section in pPb collisions at root s(NN) = 5 TeV is obtained.

Abstract: Using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the B (s) (0) -> aEuro parts per thousand I center dot I center dot branching fraction is measured to be B(B-0 -> phi phi) = (1.84 +/- 0.05(stat) +/- 0.07 (syst) +/- 0.11 (f(s)/f(d)) +/- 0.12 (norm)) x 10(-5) where f (s) /f (d) represents the ratio of the B (s) (0) to B (0) production cross-sections, and the B (0) -> I center dot K (*)(892)(0) decay mode is used for normalization. This is the most precise measurement of this branching fraction to date, representing a factor five reduction in the statistical uncertainty compared with the previous best measurement. A search for the decay B (0) -> I center dot I center dot is also made. No signal is observed, and an upper limit on the branching fraction is set as B(B-0 -> phi phi < 2.8 x 10(-8)) at 90% confidence level. This is a factor of seven improvement compared to the previous best limit.
