Abstract: A non-Abelian flavour symmetry in a minimal supersymmetric standard model can explain the flavour structures in the Yukawa couplings and simultaneously solve the SUSY flavour problem. Similarly the SUSY CP problem can be solved if CP is spontaneously broken in the flavour sector. In this work, we present an explicit example of these statements with an SU(3) flavour symmetry and spontaneous CP violation. In addition, we show that it is still possible to find some significant deviation from the SM expectations as far as FCNC and CP violation are concerned. We find that large contributions can be expected in lepton flavour violating decays, as μ-> e gamma and tau -> μgamma, electric dipole moments, d(e) and d(n) and kaon CP violating processes as epsilon(K). We also show that without further modifications, it is unlikely for these models to solve the Phi(Bs) anomaly at low-moderate tan beta. Thus, these flavoured MSSM realizations are phenomenologically sensitive to the experimental searches in the realm of flavor and CP violation physics.

Abstract: The alignment in flavour space of the Yukawa matrices of a general two-Higgs-doublet model results in the absence of tree-level flavour-changing neutral currents. In addition to the usual fermion masses and mixings, the aligned Yukawa structure only contains three complex parameters zeta(f), which are potential new sources of CP violation [1]. For particular values of these three parameters all known specific implementations of the model based on discrete Z(2) symmetries are recovered. One of the most distinctive features of the two-Higgs-doublet model is the presence of a charged scalar H-+/-. In this work, we discuss its main phenomenological consequences in flavour-changing processes at low energies and derive the corresponding constraints on the parameters of the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model.

Abstract: In this paper we evaluate sources of background of the gamma p -> omega p reaction, with the omega detected through its pi(0)gamma decay channel, to compare with the experiment carried out at ELSA. We find background from gamma p -> pi(0)pi(0)p followed by decay of a pi(0) into two gamma, recombining one pi(0) and one gamma, and from the gamma p -> pi(0)eta p reaction with subsequent decay of the eta into two photons. This background accounts for the data at pi(0)gamma invariant masses beyond 700 MeV, but strength is missing at lower invariant masses which was attributed to photon misidentification events, which we simulate to get a good reproduction of the experimental background. Once this is done, we perform an event mixing simulation to reproduce the calculated background and we find that the method provides a good description of the background. A closer look reveals this is accidental. We show that the mixed event generated background in the region of the omega mass and beyond is completely tied to the events at low pi(0)gamma invariant masses where the d sigma/dM(pi 0 gamma) distribution is much larger. This has as a consequence that the mixed event method produces the same background at high invariant masses independently of the actual background in that region, as a consequence of which, the method is unsuited to give the background at energies around the peak of the omega and beyond.

Abstract: We have revisited glueball mixing with the pseudoscalar mesons in the MIT bag model scheme. The calculation has been performed in the spherical cavity approximation to the bag using two different fermion propagators, the cavity and the free propagators. We obtain probabilities of mixing for the eta at the level of 0.006%-2.0%, while for the eta' one at the level of 0.6%-40%, depending on the choice of bag radius and, therefore, of the strong coupling constant. Our results differ from previous calculations. The origin of our difference stems from the treatment of the time integrations. The comparison of our calculation with experimental data, which is consistent with small eta – eta' – G mixing, implies that the pseudoscalar glueball is small, R similar to 0.5-0.6 fm and has a large mass, M-G similar to 2000-2500 MeV.

Abstract: We propose an effective Lagrangian for the coupling of the neutral pion with gluons whose strength is determined by a low-energy theorem. We calculate the contribution of the gluonic components arising from this interaction to the pion transition form factor gamma*gamma* -> pi(0) using the instanton liquid model to describe the quantum chromodynamics vacuum. We find that this contribution is large and might explain the anomalous behavior of the form factor at large virtuality of one of the photons, a feature which was recently discovered by the BABAR Collaboration.
