  Abstract We present Dalitz plot analyses for the decays of B mesons to (D-DK+)-K-0 and (D) over bar (DK+)-D-0-K-0. We report the observation of the D*(s1)(2700)(+) resonance in these two channels and obtain measurements of the mass M(D*(s1)(2700)(+)) = 2699(-7)(+14) MeV/c(2) and of the width Gamma(D*(s1)(2700)(+)) = 127(-19)(+24) MeV, including statistical and systematic uncertainties. In addition, we observe an enhancement in the (DK+)-K-0 invariant mass around 2350-2500 MeV/c(2) in both decays B-0 -> (D-DK+)-K-0 and B+ -> (D) over bar (DK+)-D-0-K-0, which we are not able to interpret. The results are based on 429 fb(-1) of data containing 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

  Title Study of the process e(+) e(-) -> pi(+)pi (-) pi(0) using initial state radiation with BABAR Type Journal Article

  Abstract The process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0)gamma is studied at a center-of-mass energy near the Upsilon(4S) resonance using a data sample of 469 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. We have performed a precise measurement of the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0) cross section in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.62 to 3.5 GeV. In the energy regions of the omega and phi resonances, the cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 1.3%. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured e(+) e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0) cross section from threshold to 2.0 GeV is (45.86 +/- 0.14 +/- 0.58) x 10(-10). From the fit to the measured 3 pi mass spectrum we have determined the resonance parameters Gamma(omega -> e(+)e(-)) B(omega -> pi(+) pi- pi(0)) = (0.5698 +/- 0.0031 +/- 0.0082) keV, Gamma(phi -> e(+)e(-)) B(phi -> pi(+) pi(-)pi(0)) = (0.1841 +/- 0.0021 +/- 0.0080) keV, and B(rho -> 3 pi) = (0.88 +/- 0.23 +/- 0.30) x 10(-4). The significance of the rho -> 3 pi signal is greater than 6 sigma. For the J/psi resonance we have measured the product Gamma(J/psi -> e(+) e(-)) B (J/psi -> 3 pi) = (0.1248 +/- 0.0019 +/- 0.0026) keV.

  Title Amplitude analysis and measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of B-0 -> (KSKSKS0)-K-0-K-0 decays Type Journal Article
  Year 2012 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 85 Issue 5 Pages 054023 - 21pp

  Abstract We present the first results on the Dalitz-plot structure and improved measurements of the time-dependent CP-violation parameters of the process B-0 -> (KSKSKS0)-K-0-K-0 obtained using 468 x 10(6) B (B) over bar decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. The Dalitz-plot structure is probed by a time-integrated amplitude analysis that does not distinguish between B-0 and (B) over bar (0) decays. We measure the total inclusive branching fraction B(B-0 -> (KSKSKS0)-K-0-K-0) = (6.19 +/- 0.48 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.12) x 10(-6), where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third represents the Dalitz-plot signal model dependence. We also observe evidence for the intermediate resonant states f(0)(980), f(0)(1710), and f(2)(2010). Their respective product branching fractions are measured to be (2.70(-1.19)(+1.25) +/- 0.36 +/- 1.17) x 10(-6), (0.50(-0.24)(+0.46) +/- 0.04 +/- 0.10) x 10(-6), and (0.54(-0.20)(+0.21) +/- 0.03 +/- 0.52) x 10(-6). Additionally, we determine the mixing-induced CP-violation parameters to be S = -0.94(-0.21)(+0.24) +/- 0.06 and C = -0.17 +/- 0.18 +/- 0.04, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. These values are in agreement with the standard model expectation. For the first time, we report evidence of CP violation in B-0 -> (KSKSKS0)-K-0-K-0 decays; CP conservation is excluded at 3.8 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties.

  Title Measurement of an excess of (B)over-bar -> D-(*) tau(-)(v)over-bar(tau) decays and implications for charged Higgs bosons Type Journal Article
  Year 2013 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 88 Issue 7 Pages 072012 - 30pp

  Abstract Based on the full BABAR data sample, we report improved measurements of the ratios R(D) = B((B) over bar -> D tau(-)(v) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar -> Dl(-)(v) over bar (l)) and R(D*) = B((B) over bar -> D*tau(-)(v) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar -> D*l(-)(v) over bar (l)), where l refers to either an electron or muon. These ratios are sensitive to new physics contributions in the form of a charged Higgs boson. We measure R(D) = 0.440 +/- 0.058 +/- 0.042 and R(D*) = 0.332 +/- 0.024 +/- 0.018, which exceed the standard model expectations by 2.0 sigma and 2.7 sigma, respectively. Taken together, the results disagree with these expectations at the 3.4 sigma level. This excess cannot be explained by a charged Higgs boson in the type II two-Higgs-doublet model. Kinematic distributions presented here exclude large portions of the more general type III two-Higgs-doublet model, but there are solutions within this model compatible with the results.

  Abstract The e(+)e(-) -> p (p) over bar cross section and the proton magnetic form factor have been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 3.0 to 6.5 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. This is the first measurement of the form factor at energies higher than 4.5 GeV. The analysis is based on 469 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider at e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The branching fractions for the decays J/psi -> p (p) over bar and psi(2S) -> p (p) over bar have also been measured.
