Abstract (down) We measure the time-dependent CP asymmetry in the radiative-penguin decay B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(-)pi(+)gamma, using a sample of 471 x 10(6) Upsilon(4S) -> B (B) over bar events recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e(+)(e) over tilde (-) storage ring at SLAC. Using events with m(K pi pi) < 1.8 GeV/c(2), we measure the branching fractions of B+ -> K+pi(-)pi(+)gamma and B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(-)pi(+)gamma, the branching fractions of the kaonic resonances decaying to K+pi(-)pi(+)gamma, as well as the overall branching fractions of the B+ -> rho K-0(+.)gamma, B+ -> K*(0)pi(+)gamma. and S-wave B+ -> (K pi)(0)(*0) pi(+)gamma components. For events from the rho mass band, we measure the CP-violating parameters SKS0 pi+pi-gamma = 0.14 +/- 0.25 +/- 0.03 and CKS0 pi+pi-gamma = -0.39 +/- 0.20(-0.02)(+0.003), where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We extract from this measurement the time-dependent CP asymmetry related to the CP eigenstate rho K-0(S)0 and obtain S-KS(0) = -0.18 +/- 0.32(-0.05)(+0.06), which provides information on the photon polarization in the underlying b -> s gamma transition.

Title Formation spectra of charmed meson-nucleus systems using an antiproton beam Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physics Letters B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Lett. B
Volume 754 Issue Pages 26-32
Keywords Charmed mesic nuclei; Formation spectra; DN and (D)over-barN interaction; Klein-Gordon equation; Green's function method
Abstract (down) We investigate the structure and formation of charmed meson--nucleus systems, with the aim of understanding the charmed meson-nucleon interactions and the properties of the charmed mesons in the nuclear medium. The (D) over bar mesic nuclei are of special interest, since they have tiny decay widths due to the absence of strong decays for the (D) over barN pair. Employing an effective model for the (D) over barN and DN interactions and solving the Klein-Gordon equation for (D) over bar and D in finite nuclei, we find that the D0-11B system has 1s and 2p mesic nuclear states and that the D0-11B system binds in a 1s state. In view of the forthcoming experiments by the PANDA and CBM Collaborations at the future FAIR facility and the J-PARC upgrade, we calculate the formation spectra of the [(D) over bar B--11] and [D-0-B-11] mesic nuclei for an antiproton beam on a C-12 target. Our results suggest that it is possible to observe the 2p D- mesic nuclear state with an appropriate experimental setup.

Title Gravitational waves from first order phase transitions as a probe of an early matter domination era and its inverse problem Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) We investigate the gravitational wave background from a first order phase transition in a matter-dominated universe, and show that it has a unique feature from which important information about the properties of the phase transition and thermal history of the universe can be easily extracted. Also, we discuss the inverse problem of such a gravitational wave background in view of the degeneracy among macroscopic parameters governing the signal.

Title Quantum dress for a naked singularity Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physics Letters B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Lett. B
Volume 760 Issue Pages 244-248
Keywords Semiclassical gravity; Quantum backreaction; Cosmic censorship; Black holes; Naked singularities; BTZ
Abstract (down) We investigate semiclassical backreaction on a conical naked singularity space-time with a negative cosmological constant in (2 + 1)-dimensions. In particular, we calculate the renormalized quantum stress-energy tensor for a conformally coupled scalar field on such naked singularity space-time. We then obtain the backreacted metric via the semiclassical Einstein equations. We show that, in the regime where the semiclassical approximation can be trusted, backreaction dresses the naked singularity with an event horizon, thus enforcing (weak) cosmic censorship.

Title Lepton Flavor Violation in the singlet-triplet scotogenic model Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 07 Issue 7 Pages 078 - 25pp
Keywords Neutrino Physics; Beyond Standard Model
Abstract (down) We investigate lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the the singlet-triplet scotogenic model in which neutrinos acquire non-zero masses at the 1-loop level. In contrast to the most popular variant of this setup, the singlet scotogenic model, this version includes a triplet fermion as well as a triplet scalar, leading to a scenario with a richer dark matter phenomenology. Taking into account results from neutrino oscillation experiments, we explore some aspects of the LFV phenomenology of the model. In particular, we study the relative weight of the dipole operators with respect to other contributions to the LFV amplitudes and determine the most constraining observables. We show that in large portions of the parameter space, the most promising experimental perspectives are found for LFV 3-body decays and for coherent mu-e conversion in nuclei.
