Abstract |
We report the first search for dark sectors performed at the NA64 experiment employing a high energy muon beam and a missing energy-momentum technique. Muons from the M2 beamline at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron with a momentum of 160 GeV/c are directed to an active target. The signal signature consists of a single scattered muon with momentum < 80 GeV/c in the final state, accompanied by missing energy, i.e., no detectable activity in the downstream calorimeters. For a total dataset of (1.98 +/- 0.02) x 10(10) muons on target, no event is observed in the expected signal region. This allows us to set new limits on the remaining (m(Z)'; g(Z)') parameter space of a new Z' (L-mu – L-tau) vector boson which could explain the muon (g – 2)(mu) anomaly. Additionally, our study excludes part of the parameter space suggested by the thermal dark matter relic abundance. Our results pave the way to explore dark sectors and light dark matter with muon beams in a unique and complementary way to other experiments. |

Abstract |
We report the first observation of the baryonic flavor-changing neutral current decay Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+)mu(-) with 24 signal events and a statistical significance of 5.8 Gaussian standard deviations. This measurement uses a p (p) over bar collisions data sample corresponding to 6.8 fb(-1) at root s = 1.96 TeV collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. The total and differential branching ratios for Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+)mu(-) are measured. We find B(Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+)mu(-)) = [1.73 +/- 0.42(stat) +/- (syst)] x 10(-6). We also report the first measurement of the differential branching ratio of B(s)(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-), using 49 signal events. In addition, we report branching ratios for B(+) -> K(+)mu(+)mu(-), B(0) -> K(0)mu(+)mu(-), and B -> K*(892)mu(+)mu(-) decays. |

Abstract |
We report the first observation of a baryonic B-s(0) decay, B-s(0). p (Lambda) over barK(-), using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1). The branching fraction is measured to be B(B-s(0) -> p (Lambda) over bar K-)+ B(B-s(0) -> p (Lambda) over bar K+) [5.46 +/- 0.61 +/- 0.57 +/- 0.50(B) +/- 0.32(f(s)/(d))] x 10(-6), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic, the third uncertainty accounts for the experimental uncertainty on the branching fraction of the B-0 -> p (Lambda) over bar pi(-) decay used for normalization, and the fourth uncertainty relates to the knowledge of the ratio of b-quark hadronization probabilities f(s)/f(d). |

Abstract |
We report the first measurement of the flux-averaged cross section for charged current coherent pi(+) production on carbon for neutrino energies less than 1.5 GeV, and with a restriction on the final state phase space volume in the T2K near detector, ND280. Comparisons are made with predictions from the Rein-Sehgal coherent production model and the model by Alvarez-Ruso et al., the latter representing the first implementation of an instance of the new class of microscopic coherent models in a neutrino interaction Monte Carlo event generator. We observe a clear event excess above background, disagreeing with the null results reported by K2K and SciBooNE in a similar neutrino energy region. The measured flux-averaged cross sections are below those predicted by both the Rein-Sehgal and Alvarez-Ruso et al. models. |

Abstract |
We report on what is to our knowledge the first scattering experiment of surface waves on an accelerating transcritical flow, which in the analogue gravity context is described by an effective spacetime with a black-hole horizon. This spacetime has been probed by an incident co-current wave, which partially scatters into an outgoing countercurrent wave on each side of the horizon. The measured scattering amplitudes are compatible with the predictions of the hydrodynamical theory, where the kinematical description in terms of the effective metric is exact. |

Abstract |
We report on the measurement of the Be-7(n,p)Li-7 cross section from thermal to approximately 325 keV neutron energy, performed in the high-flux experimental area (EAR2) of the n_TOF facility at CERN. This reaction plays a key role in the lithium yield of the big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) for standard cosmology. The only two previous time-of-flight measurements performed on this reaction did not cover the energy window of interest for BBN, and they showed a large discrepancy between each other. The measurement was performed with a Si telescope and a high-purity sample produced by implantation of a Be-7 ion beam at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. While a significantly higher cross section is found at low energy, relative to current evaluations, in the region of BBN interest, the present results are consistent with the values inferred from the time-reversal Li-7(p,n)Be-7 reaction, thus yielding only a relatively minor improvement on the so-called cosmological lithium problem. The relevance of these results on the near-threshold neutron production in the p + Li-7 reaction is also discussed. |

Abstract |
We report on the first search for electron-muon lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the decay of a b quark and b antiquark bound state. We look for the LFV decay Upsilon(3S) -> e(+/-) mu(-/+) in a sample of 118 million gamma(3S) mesons from 27 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e(+) e(-) collider operating with a 10.36 GeV center-of-mass energy. No evidence for a signal is found, and we set a limit on the branching fraction B[Upsilon(3S) -> e(+/-) mu(-/+)] < 3.6 x 10(-7) at 90% C. L. This result can be interpreted as a limit Lambda(NP)/g(NP)(2) > 80 TeV on the energy scale Lambda(NT) divided by the coupling-squared g(NP)(2) of relevant new physics (NP). |

Abstract |
We report on the calculation of W-+/- Zjj production with leptonic decays at hadron-hadron colliders at next-to-leading order in QCD. These processes are important both to test the quartic gauge couplings of the standard model and because they constitute relevant backgrounds to beyond standard model physics searches. Our results show that the next-to-leading order corrections reduce significantly the scale uncertainties and have a nontrivial phase space dependence. |

Abstract |
We report on measurements of the mass and lifetime of the Xi(-)(b) baryon using about 1800 Xi(-)(b) decays reconstructed in a proton-proton collision data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment. The decays are reconstructed in the Xi(-)(b) -> Xi(0)(c)pi(-), Xi(0)(c) -> pK(-)K(-)pi(+) channel and the mass and lifetime are measured using the Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-) mode as a reference. We measure M(Xi(-)(b)) – M(Lambda(0)(b)) = 178.36 +/- 0.46 +/- 0.16 MeV/c(2), (tau Xi(-)(b)/tau Lambda(0)(b)) = 1.089 +/- 0.026 +/- 0.011, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results lead to a factor of 2 better precision on the Xi(-)(b) mass and lifetime compared to previous best measurements, and are consistent with theoretical expectations. |

Abstract |
We report on measurements of the decays of (B) over bar mesons into the semileptonic final states (B) over bar -> D-(*())pi(+)pi(-)l(-)(nu) over bar, where D-(*()) represents a D or D* meson and l(-) is an electron or a muon. These measurements are based on 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the SLAC asymmetric B factory PEP-II. We determine the branching fraction ratios R-pi+pi-(()*()) = B((B) over bar -> D-(*())pi(+)pi(-)l(-)(nu) over bar /B (B) over bar -> D-(*())l(-)(nu) over bar) using events in which the second B meson is fully reconstructed. We find R pi+pi- = 0.067 +/- 0.010 +/- 0.008 and R pi+pi-* = 0.019 +/- 0.005 +/- 0.004, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Based on these results and assuming isospin invariance, we estimate that (B) over bar -> D-(*())pi pi l (nu) over bar decays, where pi denotes either a pi(+/-) and pi(0) meson, account for up to half the difference between the measured inclusive semileptonic branching fraction to charm hadrons and the corresponding sum of previously measured exclusive branching fractions. |
