Title Non-renormalizable operators for solar neutrino mass generation in Split SuSy with bilinear R-parity violation Type Journal Article
Year 2017 Publication Nuclear Physics B Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Phys. B
Volume 916 Issue Pages 402-413
Keywords
Abstract (down) The Minimal Supersymmetric Extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) is able to explain the current data from neutrino physics. Unfortunately Split Supersymmetry as low energy approximation of this theory fails to generate a solar square mass difference, including after the addition of bilinear R-Parity Violation. In this work, it is shown how one can derive an effective low energy theory from the MSSM in the spirit of Split Supersymmetry, which has the potential of explaining the neutrino phenomenology. This is achieved by going beyond leading order in the process of integrating out heavy scalars from the original theory, which results in non-renormalizable operators in the effective low energy theory. It is found that in particular a d = 8 operator is crucial for the generation of the neutrino mass differences.

Abstract (down) The Lie algebras expansion method is used to show that the four-dimensional spacetime Maxwell (super)algebras and some of their generalizations can be derived in a simple way as particular expansions of o(3,2) and osp(N vertical bar 4).

Title Measurement of the differential cross-sections of inclusive, prompt and non-prompt J/psi production in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication Nuclear Physics B Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Phys. B
Volume 850 Issue 3 Pages 387-444
Keywords
Abstract (down) The inclusive J/psi production cross-section and fraction of J/psi mesons produced in B-hadron decays are measured in proton proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity of the J/psi, using 2.3 pb(-1) of integrated luminosity. The cross-section is measured from a minimum P(T) of 1 GeV to a maximum of 70 GeV and for rapidities within vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.4 giving the widest reach of any measurement of J/psi production to date. The differential production cross-sections of prompt and non-prompt J/psi are separately determined and are compared to Colour Singlet NNLO*, Colour Evaporation Model, and FONLL predictions.

Title Neutrino oscillations and the seesaw origin of neutrino mass Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Nuclear Physics B Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Phys. B
Volume 908 Issue Pages 436-455
Keywords
Abstract (down) The historical discovery of neutrino oscillations using solar and atmospheric neutrinos, and subsequent accelerator and reactor studies, has brought neutrino physics to the precision era. We note that CP effects in oscillation phenomena could be difficult to extract in the presence of unitarity violation. As a result upcoming dedicated leptonic CP violation studies should take into account the non-unitarity of the lepton mixing matrix. Restricting non-unitarity will shed light on the seesaw scale, and thereby guide us towards the new physics responsible for neutrino mass generation.

Title High-E-T isolated-photon plus jets production in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2017 Publication Nuclear Physics B Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Phys. B
Volume 918 Issue Pages 257-316
Keywords
Abstract (down) The dynamics of isolated-photon plus one-, two- and three-jet production in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV are studied with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using a data set with an integrated luminosity of 20.2 fb(-1). Measurements of isolated-photon plus jets cross sections are presented as functions of the photon and jet transverse momenta. The cross sections as functions of the azimuthal angle between the photon and the jets, the azimuthal angle between the jets, the photon-jet invariant mass and the scattering angle in the photon-jet centre-of-mass system are presented. The pattern of QCD radiation around the photon and the leading jet is investigated by measuring jet production in an annular region centred on each object; enhancements are observed around the leading jet with respect to the photon in the directions towards the beams. The experimental measurements are compared to several different theoretical calculations, and overall a good description of the data is found.
