Abstract: We study the processes gamma gamma -> eta(c )-> eta'K+K-, eta'pi(+)pi(-), and eta pi(+)pi(-) using a data sample of 519 fb(-1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Upsilon(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. This is the first observation of the decay eta(c)-> eta'K+K- and we measure the branching fraction Gamma (eta(c) -> eta' K+K- )/(Gamma(eta(c) -> eta'pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.644 +/- 0.039(stat) +/- 0.032(sys). Significant interference is observed between gamma gamma ->eta(c)->eta pi(+)pi(-) and the nonresonant two-photon process gamma gamma -> eta pi(+)pi(-). A Dalitz plot analysis is performed of eta(c) decays to eta'K+K-, eta'pi(+)pi(-) and eta pi(+)pi(-). Combined with our previous analysis of eta(c) -> K (K) over bar pi, we measure the K-0*(1430) parameters and the ratio between its eta'K and pi K couplings. The decay eta(c) -> eta'pi(+)pi(-) is dominated by the f(0)(2100) resonance, also observed in J/psi radiative decays. A new a(0) (1700) -> eta pi resonance is observed in the eta(c) -> eta pi(+)pi(-) channel. We also compare eta(c) decays to eta and eta' final states in association with scalar mesons as they relate to the identification of the scalar glueball.

Abstract: We study the processes gamma gamma -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) and gamma gamma -> K+K-pi(0) using a data sample of 519 fb(-1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Upsilon(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. We observe eta(c) decays to both final states and perform Dalitz plot analyses using a model-independent partial wave analysis technique. This allows a model-independent measurement of the mass-dependence of the I = 1/2 K pi S-wave amplitude and phase. A comparison between the present measurement and those from previous experiments indicates similar behavior for the phase up to a mass of 1.5 GeV/c(2). In contrast, the amplitudes show very marked differences. The data require the presence of a new a(0)(1950) resonance with parameters m = 1931 +/- 14 +/- 22 MeV/c(2) and Gamma = 271 +/- 22 +/- 29 MeV.

Abstract: We study the processes e+e- -> K0S K0L gamma, K0S K0L pi+ pi- gamma, K0S K0S pi+ pi- gamma, and K0S K0S K+ K- gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state, providing cross section measurements for the hadronic states over a continuum of center-of-mass energies. The results are based on 469 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We observe the phi(1020) resonance in the K0S K0L final state and measure the product of its electronic width and branching fraction with about 3% uncertainty. We present a measurement of the e+e- -> K0S K0L cross section in the energy range from 1.06 to 2.2 GeV and observe the production of a resonance at 1.67 GeV. We present the first measurements of the e+e- -> K0S K0L pi+ pi-, K0S K0S pi+ pi-, and K0S K0S K+ K- cross sections and study the intermediate resonance structures. We obtain the first observations of J/Psi decay to the K0S K0L pi+ pi-, K0S K0S pi+ pi-, and K0S K0S K+ K- final states.

The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energy. From the mass spectra, the first precise measurement of the e(+)e--> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)pi(0)pi(0) cross section and the first measurement ever of the e(+)e--> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)pi(0)pi(0)eta cross section are performed. The center-of-mass energies range from threshold to 4.35 GeV. The systematic uncertainty is typically between 10% and 13%. The contributions from omega pi(0)pi(0), eta pi(+)pi(-) and other intermediate states are presented. We observe the J/psi and psi(2S) in most of these final states and measure the corresponding branching fractions, many of them for the first time.

Abstract: We study the processes e(+)e(-) -> K+K-pi(+)pi(-)gamma, K+K-pi(0)pi(0)gamma, and K+K-K+K-gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About 84000, 8000, and 4200 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected from 454 fb(-1) of BABAR data. The invariantmass of the hadronic final state defines the e(+)e(-) center-of- mass energy, so that the K+K-pi(+)pi(-)gamma data can be compared with direct measurements of the e(+)e(-) -> K+K-pi(+)pi(-) reaction. No directmeasurements exist for the e(+)e(-) -> K+K-pi(0)pi(0) or e(+)e(-) -> K+K-K+K- reactions, andwe present an update of our previous result based on a data sample that is twice as large. Studying the structure of these events, we find contributions froma number of intermediate states and extract their cross sections. In particular, we perform a more detailed study of the e(+)e(-) -> phi(1020)pi pi gamma reaction and confirm the presence of the Y(2175) resonance in the phi(1020)integral(0)(980) and K+K-integral(0)(980) modes. In the charmonium region, we observe the J/psi in all three final states and in several intermediate states, as well as the psi(2S) in some modes, and measure the corresponding products of branching fraction and electron width.

Abstract: We study the processes e(+)e(-) -> gamma ISRJ (/) (psi), where J / psi pi(+)pi(-) pi(0), J / psi -> K+K-pi(0), and J / psi -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) using a data sample of 519 fb(-1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+) e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Y(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. We measure the ratio of branching fractions R-1 = B(J / psi -> K+K-pi(0))/B(J / psi ->pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)) and R-2 = B(J / psi -> K-S(0) K-+/- p(-/+))/B(J / psi ->pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)). We perform Dalitz plot analyses of the three J / psi decay modes and measure fractions for resonances contributing to the decays. We also analyze the J /psi -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0) decay using the Veneziano model. We observe structures compatible with the presence of rho(1450) in all three J / psi decay modes and measure the relative branching fraction: R(rho(1450)) = B(rho(1450)-> K+K-)/B(rho(1450)->pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.307 +/- 0.084(stat) +/- 0.082(sys).

Abstract: We study the process gamma gamma -> J/psi omega using a data sample of 519.2 fb(-1) recorded by the BABAR detector at SLAC at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies near the gamma(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. We confirm the existence of the charmoniumlike resonance X (3915) decaying to J/psi omega with a significance of 7.6 standard deviations, including systematic uncertainties, and measure its mass (3919.4 +/- 2.2 +/- 1.6) MeV/c(2) and width (13 +/- 6 +/- 3) MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. A spin-parity analysis supports the assignment J(P) = 0(+) and therefore the identification of the signal as due to the chi(c0)(2P) resonance. In this hypothesis we determine the product between the two-photon width and the final state branching fraction to be (52 +/- 10 +/- 3) eV.
