Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
Four decay modes of the B-c(+) meson into a J/psi meson and multiple charged kaons or pions are studied using proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The decay B-c(+) -> J/psi K+ K- pi(+)pi(+)pi(-) is observed for the first time, and evidence for the B-c(+) -> J/psi 4 pi(+)3 pi(-) decay is found. The decay B-c(+) -> J/psi 3 pi(+)2 pi(-) is observed and the previous observation of the B-c(+) -> psi(2S)pi(+)pi(+)pi(-) decay is confirmed using the psi(2S) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Ratios of the branching fractions of these four B-c(+) decay channels are measured. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
Forward top quark pair production is studied in pp collisions in the μeb final state using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.93 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The cross-section is measured in a fiducial region where both leptons have a transverse momentum greater than 20 GeV and a pseudorapidity between 2.0 and 4.5. The quadrature sum of the azimuthal separation and the difference in pseudorapidities, denoted AR, between the two leptons must be larger than 0.1. The b-jet axis is required to be separated from both leptons by a Delta R of 0.5, and to have a transverse momentum in excess of 20 GeV and a pseudorapidity between 2.2 and 4.2. The cross-section is measured to be sigma(t (t) over bar )= 126 +/- 19 (stat) +/- 16 (sts) +/- 5 (lumi) fb where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the luminosity determination. The measurement is compatible with the Standard Model prediction. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
For accurate determination of particle masses accurate knowledge of the momentum scale of the detectors is crucial. The procedure used to calibrate the momentum scale of the LHCb spectrometer is described and illustrated using the performance obtained with an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb-1 collected during 2016 in pp running. The procedure uses large samples of J/qi -> mu+mu- and B+ -> J/qiK+ decays and leads to a relative accuracy of 3 x 10-4 on the momentum scale. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
First observations of the rare decays B (+) -> K (+)pi (+) pi (-) μ(+) μ(-) and B (+)-> phi K+ mu(+)mu(-) are presented using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The branching fractions of the decays are B(B (+) -> K (+)pi (+) pi (-) μ(+) μ(-) ) = (4.36 (-0.27) (+0.29) (stat) +/- 0.21 (syst) +/- (norm)) x 10(-7), B(B (+)-> phi K+ mu(+)mu(-)) = (0.82 (+0.19)(-0.17) (stat) (+0.10)(-0.04) (syst) +/- 0.27 (norm)) x 10(-7) where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the uncertainty on the branching fractions of the normalisation modes. A measurement of the differential branching fraction in bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system is also presented for the decay B (+) -> K (+)pi (+) pi (-) μ(+) μ(-) |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
First observations of the decays A(b)(0) -> A(c)(+)D((s))(-) are reported using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected at 7 and 8 TeV center-of- ass energies in proton-proton collisions with the LHCb detector. In addition, the most precise measurement of the branching fraction B(B-s(0) -> D+Ds-) is made and a search is performed for the decays B-0((s)) -> A(c)(+)A(c)(-). The results obtained are B(A(b)(0) -> A(c)(+)D(-))/B(A(b)(0) -> A(c)(+)D(s)(-)) = 0.042 +/- 0.003 (stat) +/- 0.003 (syst), [B(A(b)(0) -> A(c)(+)D(s)(-))/B((B) over bar (0) -> D+Ds-)]/[B(A(b)(0) -> A(c)(+)pi(-))/B((B) over bar (0) -> D+pi(-))] = 0.96 +/- 0.02 (stat) +/- 0.06 (syst), B(B-s(0) -> D+Ds-)/B((B) over bar (0) -> D+Ds-) = 0.038 +/- 0.004 (stat) +/- (syst), B((B) over bar (0) -> A(c)(+)A(c)(-))/B((B) over bar (0) -> D+Ds-) < 0.0022[95% C.L.], B(B-s(0) -> A(c)(+)A(c)(-)) /B(B-s(0) -> D+Ds-) < 0.30[95% C.L.]. Measurement of the mass of the A(b)(0) baryon relative to the (B) over bar (0) meson gives M(A(b)(0)) – M((B) over bar (0)) = 339.72 +/- 0.24 (stat) +/- 0.18 (syst) MeV/c(2). This result provides the most precise measurement of the mass of the A(b)(0) baryon to date. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
First observations of the B-S(0) ->psi(2S)eta, B-(s)(0) ->psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-) decays are made using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment in proton proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV. The ratios of the branching fractions of each of the *(2S) modes with respect to the corresponding J/psi decays are B(B-s(0) ->psi(2S)eta)/B(B-s(0) -> J(2S)eta) = 0.83 +/- 0.14 (stat) +/- 0.12 (B), B(B0 ->psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-))/B(B0 -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.56 +/- 0.07 (stat) +/- 0.05 (syst) +/- 0.01 (B), B(B0 ->psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-))/B(B-s(0) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.34 +/- 0.04 (stat) +/- 0.03 (syst) +/- 0.01 (B). where the third uncertainty corresponds to the uncertainties of the dilepton branching fractions of the J/* and psi(28) meson decays. |

First observations and measurements of the branching fractions of the (B) over bar (0)(s) -> D+D-, (B) over bar (0)(s) -> Ds+D- and (B) over bar (0)(s) -> D-0(D) over bar (0) decays are presented using 1.0 fb(-1) of data collected by the LHCb experiment. These branching fractions are normalized to those of (B) over bar (0) -> D+D-, B-0 -> D-Ds+ and B- -> (DDs-)-D-0, respectively. An excess of events consistent with the decay (B) over bar (0) -> D-0(D) over bar (0) is also seen, and its branching fraction is measured relative to that of B- -> D0Ds-. Improved measurements of the branching fractions B((B) over bar (0)(s) -> Ds+Ds-) and B(B- -> (DDs-)-D-0) are reported, each relative to B(B-0 -> D-Ds+). The ratios of branching fractions are B((B) over bar (0)(s) -> D+D-)/B((B) over bar (0) -> D+D-) = 1.08 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.10, B((B) over bar (0)(s) -> Ds+D-)/B(B-0 -> D-Ds+) = 0.050 +/- 0.008 +/- 0.004, B((B) over bar (0)(s) -> D-0(D) over bar (0))/B((B) over bar (-) -> (DDs-)-D-0) = 0.019 +/- 0.003 +/- 0.003, B((B) over bar (0) -> D-0(D) over bar (0))/B(B- -> (DDs-)-D-0) < 0.0024 at 90% CL, B(<(B)over bar>(0)(s) -> D-s(+)(D) over bar (-)(s))/B(B-0 -> D-Ds+) = 0.56 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.04, B(B -> (DDs)-D-0)/B(B-0 -> D-Ds+) = 1.22 +/- 0.02 +/- 0.07, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
First evidence of a structure in the J/psi Lambda invariant mass distribution is obtained from an amplitude analysis of Xi(-)(b) -> J/psi Lambda K- decays. The observed structure is consistent with being due to a charmonium pentaquark with strangeness with a significance of 3.1r including systematic uncertainties and lookelsewhere effect. Its mass and width are determined to be 4458.8 +/- 2.9(-1.1)(+4.7) MeV and 17.3 +/- 6.5(-5.7)(+8.0) MeV, respectively, where the quoted uncertainties are statistical and systematic. The structure is also consistent with being due to two resonances. In addition, the narrow excited Xi(-) states, Xi(-)(1690) and Xi(-)(1820)(-), are seen for the first time in a Xi(-)(b) decay, and their masses and widths are measured with improved precision. The analysis is performed using pp collision data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV. |

Evidence is presented for the decay B-c(+) -> J/psi 3 pi(+)2 pi(-) using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb detector. A signal yield of 32 +/- 8 decays is found with a significance of 4.5 standard deviations. The ratio of the branching fraction of the B-c(+) -> J/psi 3 pi(+)2 pi(-) decay to that of the B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+) decay is measured to be B(B-c(+) -> J/psi 3 pi(+)2 pi(-))/B(B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+)) = 1.74 +/- 0.44 +/- 0.24, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, descending order (down)](img/sort_desc.gif) |
Evidence for the decays B-0 -> (D) over bar (0)phi and B-0 -> (D) over bar (*0) phi is reported with a significance of 3.6 sigma and 4.3 sigma, respectively. The analysis employs pp collision data at centre-of-mass energies root s = 7, 8 and 13TeV collected by the LHCb detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The branching fractions are measured to be B(B-0 -> (D) over bar (0)phi) = (7.7 +/- 2.1 +/- 0.7 +/- 0.7) x 10(-7), B(B-0 -> (D) over bar (*0)phi) = (2.2 +/- 05 +/- 0.2 +/- 0.2) x 10(-6). In these results, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is related to the branching fraction of the B-0 -> (D) over bar K-0(+) K- decay, used for normalisation. By combining the branching fractions of the decays B-0 -> (D) over bar ((*)0)phi and B-0 -> (D) over bar ((*)0)omega, the omega-phi mixing angle delta is constrained to be tan(2)delta = (3.6 +/- 0.7 +/- 0.4) x 10(-3), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. An updated measurement of the branching fractions of the B-s(0) -> (D) over bar ((*)0).phi decays, which can be used to determine the CKM angle gamma, leads to B(B-s(0) -> (D) over bar (0)phi) = (2.30 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.11 +/- 0.20) x 10(-5), B(B-s(0) -> (D) over bar (*0)phi) = (3.17 +/- 0.16 +/- 0.17 +/- 0.27) x 10(-5). |
