Abstract: In this paper, we consider the possibility of generating the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis in the context of a triplet fermion-mediated type-III seesaw model of neutrino mass. With a hierarchical spectrum of the additional fermions, the lower bound on the lightest triplet mass is similar to 1010 GeV for successful leptogenesis, a couple of orders higher than that of the type-I case. We investigate the possibility of lowering this bound in the framework of two-Higgs-doublet models. We find that the bounds can be lowered down to 107 GeV for a hierarchical spectrum. If we include the flavor effects, then a further lowering by one order of magnitude is possible. We also discuss if such lowering can be compatible with the naturalness bounds on the triplet mass.

Abstract: In this paper, we examine the interaction of (B) over barN, (B) over bar Delta, (B) over bar *N, and (B) over bar*Delta states, together with their coupled channels, by using a mapping from the light meson sector. The assumption that the heavy quarks act as spectators at the quark level automatically leads us to the results of the heavy quark spin symmetry for pion exchange and reproduces the results of the Weinberg Tomozawa term, coming from light vector exchanges in the extended local hidden gauge approach. With this dynamics we look for states dynamically generated from the interaction and find two states with nearly zero width, which we associate to the A(b)(5912) and A(b)(5920) states. The states couple mostly to (B) over bar *N, which are degenerate with the Weinberg Tomozawa interaction. The difference of masses between these two states, with J = 1/2 and 3/2, respectively, is due to pion exchange connecting these states to intermediate (B) over barN states. In addition to these two A(b) states, we find three more states with I = 0, one of them nearly degenerate in two states of J = 1/2, 3/2. Furthermore, we also find eight more states in I = 1, two of them degenerate in J = 1/2, 3/2, and another two degenerate in J = 1/2, 3/2, 5/2.

Abstract: In this paper, we place new bounds on CPT violation in the solar neutrino sector analyzing the results from solar experiments and KamLAND. We also discuss the sensitivity of the next-generation experiments DUNE and Hyper-Kamiokande, which will provide accurate measurements of the solar neutrino oscillation parameters. The joint analysis of both experiments will further improve the precision due to cancellations in the systematic uncertainties regarding the solar neutrino flux. In combination with the next-generation reactor experiment JUNO, the bound on CPT violation in the solar sector could be improved by 1 order of magnitude in comparison with current constraints. The distinguishability among CPT-violating neutrino oscillations and neutrino nonstandard interactions in the solar sector is also addressed.

Abstract: In this paper, we report on the measurement of the rate of inclusive pi(0) production induced by charged-current neutrino interactions in a C8H8 target at a mean energy of 1.3 GeV in the K2K near detector. Out of a sample of 11 606 charged- current neutrino interactions, we select 479 pi(0) events with two reconstructed photons. We find that the cross section for the inclusive pi(0) production relative to the charged-current quasielastic cross section is (CC)-C-sigma pi(0)/sigma CCQE = 0.426 +/- 0.032 (stat) +/- 0.035 (syst). The energy-dependent cross section ratio is also measured. The results are consistent with previous experiments for exclusive channels on different targets.

Abstract: In this work we explore the applicability of a special gluon mass generating mechanism in the context of the linear covariant gauges. In particular, the implementation of the Schwinger mechanism in pure Yang-Mills theories hinges crucially on the inclusion of massless bound-state excitations in the fundamental nonperturbative vertices of the theory. The dynamical formation of such excitations is controlled by a homogeneous linear Bethe-Salpeter equation, whose nontrivial solutions have been studied only in the Landau gauge. Here, the form of this integral equation is derived for general values of the gauge-fixing parameter, under a number of simplifying assumptions that reduce the degree of technical complexity. The kernel of this equation consists of fully dressed gluon propagators, for which recent lattice data are used as input, and of three-gluon vertices dressed by a single form factor, which is modeled by means of certain physically motivated Ansatze. The gauge-dependent terms contributing to this kernel impose considerable restrictions on the infrared behavior of the vertex form factor; specifically, only infrared finite Ansatze are compatible with the existence of nontrivial solutions. When such Ansatze are employed, the numerical study of the integral equation reveals a continuity in the type of solutions as one varies the gauge-fixing parameter, indicating a smooth departure from the Landau gauge. Instead, the logarithmically divergent form factor displaying the characteristic “zero crossing,” while perfectly consistent in the Landau gauge, has to undergo a dramatic qualitative transformation away from it, in order to yield acceptable solutions. The possible implications of these results are briefly discussed.

Abstract: In this work we explore the dynamics of the generalized hybrid metric-Palatini theory of gravity in the weak-field, slow-motion regime. We start by introducing the equivalent scalar-tensor representation of the theory, which contains two scalar degrees of freedom, and perform a conformal transformation to the Einstein frame. Linear perturbations of the metric in a Minkowskian background are then studied for the metric and both scalar fields. The effective Newton constant and the PPN parameter. of the theory are extracted after transforming back to the (original) Jordan frame. Two particular cases where the general method ceases to be applicable are approached separately. A comparison of these results with observational constraints is then used to impose bounds on the masses and coupling constants of the scalar fields.

Abstract: In this work we present an attempt to describe the X1(2900) found by the LHCb collaboration, in the experimental data on the invariant mass spectrum of D-K+, as a three-meson molecular state of the KpD over line system. We discuss that the interactions in all the subsystems are attractive in nature, with the pD over line interaction generating over line D1(2420) and the Kp resonating as K1(1270). We find that the system can form a three-body state but with a mass higher than that of X1(2900). We investigate the KpD system too, finding that the three-body dynamics generates an isoscalar state, which can be related to D*s1(2860), and an exotic isovector state. This latter state has a mass similar to that of the X0(2900) and X1(2900) states found by LHCb, but a very small width (similar to 7.4 +/- 0.9 MeV) and necessarily requires more than two quarks to describe its properties. We hope that our findings will encourage experimental investigations of the isovector KpD state. Finally, in the pursuit of finding a description for X1(2900), we study the K over line K*D* system where over line K*D* forms 0+, 1+, and 2+ states. We do not find a state that can be associated with X1(2900).

Abstract: In this work we study the role of the f(0)(980) and a(0)(980) resonances in the low K+K- and K-0(K) over bar (0) invariant-mass region of the B- -> pi-K+K- and B- -> pi K--(0)(K) over bar (0) reactions. The amplitudes are calculated by using the chiral unitary SU(3) formalism, in which these two resonances are dynamically generated from the unitary pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar coupled-channel approach. The amplitudes are then used as input in the evaluation of the mass distributions with respect to the K+K- and K-0(K) over bar (0) invariant masses, where the contributions coming from the I = 0 and I = 1 components are explicitly assessed. Furthermore, the contribution of the K*(892)K-0(-) production and its influence on the pi K--(+) and K+K- systems are also evaluated, showing that there is no significant strength for small K+K- invariant mass. Finally, the final distributions of M-inv(2) ((KK -/+)-K-+/-) for the B--/+ -> pi(KK -/+)-K--/+-K-+/- reactions are estimated and compared with the LHCb data. Our results indicate that the I = 0 component tied to the f(0)(980) excitation generates the dominant contribution in the range of low K+K- invariant mass.

Abstract: In this work we use the Schwinger-Dyson equations to study the possibility that an enhanced gravitational attraction triggers the formation of a right-handed neutrino condensate, inducing dynamical symmetry breaking and generating a Majorana mass for the right-handed neutrino at a scale appropriate for the seesaw mechanism. The composite field formed by the condensate phase could drive an early epoch of inflation. We find that to the lowest order, the theory does not allow dynamical symmetry breaking. Nevertheless, thanks to the large number of matter fields in the model, the suppression by additional powers in G of higher order terms can be compensated, boosting them up to their lowest order counterparts. This way chiral symmetry can be broken dynamically and the infrared mass generated turns out to be in the expected range for a successful seesaw scenario.

Abstract: In this work, we analyze the spatial and time variation of the fine structure constant (alpha) upon the theoretical framework developed by Bekenstein (Phys. Rev. D 66, 123514 (2002)). We have computed the field psi related to alpha at first order of the weak-field approximation and have also improved the estimation of the nuclear magnetic energy and, therefore, their contributions to the source term in the equation of motion of psi. We obtained that the results are similar to the ones published in L. Kraiselburd and H. Vucetich, Int. J. Mod. Phys. E 20, 101 (2011) which were computed using the zero order of the approximation, showing that one can neglect the first order contribution to the variation of the fine structure constant. Through the comparison between our theoretical results and the observational data of the Eotvos-type experiments or the time variation of alpha over the cosmological time scale, we set constraints on the free parameter of the Bekenstein model, namely the Bekenstein length.
