Abstract |
We study ultra-violet completions for d = 6 four-fermion operators in the standard model effective field theory (SMEFT), focusing on models that contain cold dark matter candidates. Via a diagrammatic method, we generate systematically lists of possible UV completions, with the aim of providing sets of models, which are complete under certain, well specified assumptions. Within these lists of models we rediscover many known DM models, as diverse as R-parity conserving supersymmetry or the scotogenic neutrino mass model. Our lists, however, also contain many new constructions, which have not been studied in the literature so far. We also briefly discuss how our DM models could be constrained by reinterpretations of LHC searches and the prospects for HL-LHC and future lepton colliders. |

Abstract |
We study two- and three-meson systems composed either of pions or kaons at maximal isospin using Monte Carlo simulations of lattice QCD. Utilizing the stochastic LapH method, we are able to determine hundreds of two- and three-particle energy levels, in nine different momentum frames, with high precision. We fit these levels using the relativistic finite-volume formalism based on a generic effective field theory in order to determine the parameters of the two- and three-particle K-matrices. We find that the statistical precision of our spectra is sufficient to probe not only the dominant s-wave interactions, but also those in d waves. In particular, we determine for the first time a term in the three-particle K-matrix that contains two-particle d waves. We use three N-f = 2 + 1 CLS ensembles with pion masses of 200, 280, and 340 MeV. This allows us to study the chiral dependence of the scattering observables, and compare to the expectations of chiral perturbation theory. |

Abstract |
We study theoretically the structure of double pionic atoms, in which two negatively charged pions (pi(-)) are bound in the atomic orbits. The double pionic atom is considered to be an interesting system from the point of view of the multi-bosonic systems. In addition, it could be possible to deduce valuable information on the isospin I = 2 pi pi interaction and the pionnucleus strong interaction. In this paper, we take into account the pi pi strong and electromagnetic interactions, and evaluate the effects on the binding energies by perturbation theory for the double pionic atoms in heavy nuclei. We investigate several combinations of two pionic states and find that the order of magnitude of the energy shifts due to the pi pi interaction is around 10 keV for the strong interaction and around 100 keV for the electromagnetic interaction for the ground states. |

Abstract |
We study theoretically the resonant structure of the double Cabibbo suppressed D+ -> K-K+K+ decay. We start from an elementary production diagram, considered subleading in previous approaches, which cannot produce a final K-K+ pair at the tree level but which we show to be able to provide the strength of the decay through final meson-meson state interaction. The different meson-meson elementary productions are related through SU(3), and the final rescattering is implemented from a suitable implementation of unitary extensions of chiral perturbation theory, which generate dynamically the scalar resonances1 f(0)(980) and a(0)(980). We obtain a good agreement with recent experimental data from the LHCb Collaboration with a minimal freedom in the fit and show the dominance of the a(0)(980) contribution close to the threshold of the K-K+ spectrum. |

Abstract |
We study theoretically the decay tau(-) -> nu(tau)P(-)A, with P- a pi(-) or K- and A an axial-vector resonance b(1)(1235), h(1) (1170), h(1) (1380), a(1) (1260), f(1) (1285) or any of the two poles of the K-1 (1270). The process proceeds through a triangle mechanism where a vector meson pair is first produced from the weak current and then one of the vectors produces two pseudoscalars, one of which reinteracts with the other vector to produce the axial resonance. For the initial weak hadronic production we use a recent formalism to account for the hadronization after the initial quark-antiquark pair produced from the weak current, which explicitly filters G-parity states and obtain easy analytic formulas after working out the angular momentum algebra. The model also takes advantage of the chiral unitary theories to evaluate the vector-pseudoscalar (VP) amplitudes, where the axial-vector resonances were obtained as dynamically generated from the vector-pseudoscalar interaction. We make predictions for invariant mass distribution and branching ratios for the channels considered. |

Abstract |
We study the Wigner function for a quantum system with a discrete, infinite-dimensional Hilbert space, such as a spinless particle moving on a one-dimensional infinite lattice. We discuss the peculiarities of this scenario and of the associated phase-space construction, propose a meaningful definition of the Wigner function in this case and characterize the set of pure states for which it is non-negative. We propose a measure of non-classicality for states in this system, which is consistent with the continuum limit. The prescriptions introduced here are illustrated by applying them to localized and Gaussian states and to their superpositions. |

Abstract |
We study the triangle mechanism for the decay tau(-) -> nu(tau)pi(-) f(0)(980) with the f(0)(980) decaying into pi(+) pi(-). The mechanism for this process is initiated by tau(-) -> nu K-tau*(0) K- followed by the K*(0) decay into pi K--(+), then the K- K+ produce the f(0)(980) through a triangle loop containing K* K+ K- which develops a singularity around 1420 MeV in the pi f(0)(980) invariant mass. We find a narrow peak in the pi(+) pi(-) invariant mass distribution, which originates from the f(0)(980) amplitude. Similarly, we also study the triangle mechanism for the decay tau -> nu pi(-) a(0)(980), with the a(0)(980) decaying into pi(0)eta.The formalism leads to final branching ratios for pi(-) f(0)(980) and pi(-) a(0)(980) of the order of 4 x 10(-4) and 7 x 10(-5), respectively, which are within present measurable range. Experimental verification of these predictions will shed light on the nature of the scalar mesons and on the origin of the “a(1)(1420)” peak observed in other reactions. |

Abstract |
We study the time evolution of the numbers of charm mesons after the kinetic freeze-out of the hadron gas produced by a central heavy-ion collision. The pi D* -> pi D* reaction rates have t-channel singularities that give contributions inversely proportional to the thermal width of the D. The ratio of the D0 and D+ production rates can differ significantly from those predicted using the measured D* branching fractions. |

Abstract |
We study the theoretical constraints on a model whose scalar sector contains one color octet and one or two color singlet SU(2)(L) doublets. To ensure unitarity of the theory, we constrain the parameters of the scalar potential for the first time at the next-to-leading order in perturbation theory. Moreover, we derive new conditions guaranteeing the stability of the potential. We employ the HEPfit package to extract viable parameter regions at the electroweak scale and test the stability of the renormalization group evolution up to the multi-TeV region. Furthermore, we set upper limits on the scalar mass splittings. All results are given for both cases with and without a second scalar color singlet. |

Abstract |
We study the tau -> nu(tau). A decay, with A an axialvector meson. We produce the a(1) (1260) and b(1) (1235) resonances in the Cabibbo favored mode and two K-1 (1270) states in the Cabibbo suppressed mode. We take advantage of previous chiral unitary approach results where these resonances appear dynamically from the vector and pseudoscalar meson interaction in s-wave. Actually two different poles were obtained associated to the K-1(1270) quantum numbers. We find that the unmeasured rates for b(1)(1235) production are similar to those of the a(1)(1260) and for the two K-1 states we suggest to separate the present information on the (K) over bar pi pi invariant masses into (K) over bar*pi and rho K modes, the channels to which these two resonances couple most strongly, predicting that thesemodes peak at different energies and have different widths. These measurements should shed light on the existence of these two K-1 states. In addition, we have gone one step further making a comparison with experimental results of three meson decay channels, letting the vector mesons of our approach decay into pseudoscalars, and we find an overall good agreement with experiment. |
