Title Search for Low-Mass Dark-Sector Higgs Bosons Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 108 Issue 21 Pages 211801 - 7pp
  Keywords
Abstract (up) Recent astrophysical and terrestrial experiments have motivated the proposal of a dark sector with GeV-scale gauge boson force carriers and new Higgs bosons. We present a search for a dark Higgs boson using 516 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the standard model-dark-sector mixing angle and the dark-sector coupling constant.

Title Search for a Stable Six-Quark State at BABAR Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 122 Issue 7 Pages 072002 - 7pp
  Keywords
Abstract (up) Recent investigations have suggested that the six-quark combination uuddss could be a deeply bound state (S) that has eluded detection so far, and a potential dark matter candidate. We report the first search for a stable, doubly strange six-quark state in (sic) > S (Lambda) over bar(Lambda) over bar decays based on a sample of 90 x 10(6)(sic)(2S) and 110 x 10(6)(sic)(3S) decays collected by the BABAR experiment. No signal is observed, and 90% confidence level limits on the combined (sic)(2S, 3S) -> S (Lambda) over bar(Lambda) over bar branching fraction in the range (1.2-1.4) x 10(-7) are derived for m(s) < 2.05 GeV. These bounds set stringent limits on the existence of such exotic particles.

Year 2023 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 108 Issue 1 Pages 012017 - 30pp
  Keywords
Abstract (up) Resonant contributions in B0 & RARR; over bar D0D+s & pi;- and B+ & RARR; D-D+s & pi;+ decays are determined with an amplitude analysis, which is performed both separately and simultaneously, where in the latter case isospin symmetry between the decays is assumed. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The full data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb-1. A doubly charged spin-0 open-charm tetraquark candidate together with a neutral partner, both with masses near 2.9 GeV, are observed in the Ds & pi; decay channel.

Title Observation of the Resonant Character of the Z(4430)(-) State Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 112 Issue 22 Pages 222002 - 9pp
  Keywords
Abstract (up) Resonant structures in B-0 -> psi'pi K--(+) decays are analyzed by performing a four-dimensional fit of the decay amplitude, using pp collision data corresponding to 3 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. The data cannot be described with K+pi(-) resonances alone, which is confirmed with a model-independent approach. A highly significant Z(4430)(-) -> psi'pi(-) component is required, thus confirming the existence of this state. The observed evolution of the Z(4430)(-) amplitude with the psi'pi(-) mass establishes the resonant nature of this particle. The mass and width measurements are substantially improved. The spin parity is determined unambiguously to be 1(+).

  Title Search for the Lepton-Flavor-Violating Decays B-s(0) -> pi(+/-mu -/+) and B-0 -> tau(+/-mu -/+) Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 123 Issue 21 Pages 211801 - 11pp
  Keywords
Abstract (up) Results are reported from a search for the rare decays B-s(0) -> tau(+/-)mu(+/-) 1T and B -> tau(+/-)mu(+/-), where the r lepton is reconstructed in the channel r- irrg vr. These processes are effectively forbidden in the standard model, hut they can potentially occur at detectable rates in models of new physics that can induce lepton flavor-violating decays. The search is based on a data sample corresponding to 3 fb-1 of proton -proton collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012. The event yields observed in the signal regions for both processes are consistent with the expected standard model backgrounds. Because of the limited mass resolution arising from the undetected r neutrino, the 1.3 and B signal regions are highly overlapping. Assuming no contribution from B r1, r, the upper limit 8(B r 71) < 4.2 x 10-5 is obtained at 95% confidence level. If no contribution from tau(+/-)mu(+/-) is assumed, a limit of B(B r prn < 1.4 x 10-5 is obtained at 95% confidence level. These results represent the first limit on B(B? r5+) and the most stringent limit on B(B tau(+/-)mu(+/-).)

Title Amplitude analysis of the B+ -> D+D-K+ decay Type Journal Article
Year 2020 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 102 Issue 11 Pages 112003 - 32pp

Abstract (up) Results are reported from an amplitude analysis of the B+ -> D+D-K+ decay. The analysis is carried out using LHCb proton-proton collision data taken at root s = 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). In order to obtain a good description of the data, it is found to be necessary to include new spin-0 and spin-1 resonances in the D-K+ channel with masses around 2.9 GeV/c(2), and a new spin-0 charmonium resonance in proximity to the spin-2 chi(c2)(3930) state.

Title Searches for low-mass dimuon resonances Type Journal Article
Year 2020 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 10 Issue 10 Pages 156 - 26pp
Keywords Beyond Standard Model; Exotics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract (up) Searches are performed for a low-mass dimuon resonance, X, produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb(-1) and collected with the LHCb detector. The X bosons can either decay promptly or displaced from the proton-proton collision, where in both cases the requirements placed on the event and the assumptions made about the production mechanisms are kept as minimal as possible. The searches for promptly decaying X bosons explore the mass range from near the dimuon threshold up to 60 GeV, with nonnegligible X widths considered above 20 GeV. The searches for displaced X -> μ(+)mu (-) decays consider masses up to 3 GeV. None of the searches finds evidence for a signal and 90% confidence-level exclusion limits are placed on the X -> μ(+)mu (-) cross sections, each with minimal model dependence. In addition, these results are used to place world-leading constraints on GeV-scale bosons in the two-Higgs-doublet and hidden-valley scenarios.

Abstract (up) Searches are performed for both promptlike and long-lived dark photons, A ', produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. These searches look for A '->mu(+)mu(-) decays using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.5 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. Neither search finds evidence for a signal, and 90% confidence-level exclusion limits are placed on the gamma-A ' kinetic mixing strength. The promptlike A ' search explores the mass region from near the dimuon threshold up to 70 GeV and places the most stringent constraints to date on dark photons with 214 < m(A ') less than or similar to 740 MeV and 10.6 < m(A ') less than or similar to 30 GeV. The search for long-lived A '->mu(+)mu(-) decays places world-leading constraints on low-mass dark photons with lifetimes O(1)ps.

Abstract (up) Searches are performed for both promptlike and long-lived dark photons, A', produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using A' -> mu(+)mu(-) decays and a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. The promptlike A' search covers the mass range from near the dimuon threshold up to 70 GeV, while the long-lived A' search is restricted to the low-mass region 214 < mo(A') < 350 MeV. No evidence for a signal is found, and 90% confidence level exclusion limits are placed on the gamma-A' kinetic-mixing strength. The constraints placed on promptlike dark photons are the most stringent to date for the mass range 10.6 < m(A') < 70 GeV, and are comparable to the best existing limits for m(A') < 0.5 GeV. The search for long-lived dark photons is the first to achieve sensitivity using a displaced-vertex signature.
