Keywords Forward physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Heavy quark production; Particle and resonance production; QCD
Abstract (up) Kinematic correlations for pairs of beauty hadrons, produced in high energy proton-proton collisions, are studied. The data sample used was collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The measurement is performed using inclusive b -> J/psi X decays in the rapidity range 2 < y(J/psi) < 4.5. The observed correlations are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.

Title Searches for third-generation scalar leptoquarks in s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 06 Issue 6 Pages 144 - 48pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract (up) Limits are set on the pair production of scalar leptoquarks, where all possible decays of the leptoquark into a quark (t, b) and a lepton (, ) of the third generation are considered. The limits are presented as a function of the leptoquark mass and the branching ratio into charged leptons for up-type (LQ<sub ) and down-type (/t) leptoquarks. Many results are reinterpretations of previously published ATLAS searches. In all cases, LHC proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of = 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016 are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1). Masses below 800 GeV are excluded for both LQu and LQd independently of the branching ratio, with masses below about 1 TeV being excluded for the limiting cases of branching ratios equal to zero or unity.

Title Limits on neutral Higgs boson production in the forward region in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 05 Issue 5 Pages 132 - 13pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron Scattering; Higgs physics
Abstract (up) Limits on the cross-section times branching fraction for neutral Higgs bosons, produced in p p collisions at root s = 7 TeV, and decaying to two tau leptons with pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5, are presented. The result is based on a dataset, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb detector. Candidates are identified by reconstructing final states with two muons, a muon and an electron, a muon and a hadron, or an electron and a hadron. A model independent upper limit at the 95% confidence level is set on a neutral Higgs boson cross-section times branching fraction. It varies from 8.6 pb for a Higgs boson mass of 90 GeV to 0.7 pb for a Higgs boson mass of 250 GeV, and is compared to the Standard Model expectation. An upper limit on tan beta in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model is set in the m(h0)(max) scenario. It ranges from 34 for a CP-odd Higgs boson mass of 90 GeV to 70 for a pseudo-scalar Higgs boson mass of 140 GeV.

Title On the existence of N*(890) resonance in S-11 channel of N scatterings Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Frontiers of Physics Abbreviated Journal Front. Phys.
Volume 14 Issue 2 Pages 24501 - 6pp
Keywords dispersion relations; N scatterings; nucleon resonance
Abstract (up) Low-energy partial-wave N scattering data is reexamined with the help of the production representation of partial-wave S matrix, where branch cuts and poles are thoroughly under consideration. The left-hand cut contribution to the phase shift is determined, with controlled systematic error estimates, by using the results of O(p(3)) chiral perturbative amplitudes obtained in the extended-onmass- shell scheme. In S-11 and P-11 channels, severe discrepancies are observed between the phase shift data and the sum of all known contributions. Statistically satisfactory fits to the data can only be achieved by adding extra poles in the two channels. We find that a S-11 resonance pole locates at zr = (0:895-0:081)-(0:164-0:023)i GeV, on the complex s-plane. On the other hand, a P-11 virtual pole, as an accompanying partner of the nucleon bound-state pole, locates atzv = (0:966-0:018) GeV, slightly above the nucleon pole on the real axis below threshold. Physical origin of the two newly established poles is explored to the best of our knowledge. It is emphasized that the O(p(3)) calculation greatly improves the fit quality comparing with the previous O(p(2)) one.

Title ATLAS search for new phenomena in dijet mass and angular distributions using pp collisions at root s=7 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages 029 - 46pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron Scattering
Abstract (up) Mass and angular distributions of dijets produced in LHC proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 7TeV have been studied with the ATLAS detector using the full 2011 data set with an integrated luminosity of 4.8 fb(-1). Dijet masses up to similar to 4.0TeV have been probed. No resonance-like features have been observed in the dijet mass spectrum, and all angular distributions are consistent with the predictions of QCD. Exclusion limits on six hypotheses of new phenomena have been set at 95% CL in terms of mass or energy scale, as appropriate. These hypotheses include excited quarks below 2.83 TeV, colour octet scalars below 1.86TeV, heavy W bosons below 1.68 TeV, string resonances below 3.61 TeV, quantum black holes with six extra space-time dimensions for quantum gravity scales below 4.11 TeV, and quark contact interactions below a compositeness scale of 7.6 TeV in a destructive interference scenario.

Title Measurement of forward W and Z boson production in pp collisions at root s=8TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages 155 - 45pp
Keywords Electroweak interaction; Hadron-Hadron scattering; Forward physics
Abstract (up) Measurements are presented of electroweak boson production using data from pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 8TeV. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb(-1) recorded with the LHCb detector. The bosons are identified in the W -> μnu and Z -> mu(+)mu(-) decay channels. The cross-sections are measured for muons in the pseudorapidity range 2.0 < eta < 4.5, with transverse momenta p(T) > 20 GeV/c and, in the case of the Z boson, a dimuon mass within 60 < M mu+mu- < 120 GeV/c(2). The results are sigma(W+) -> mu(+)nu(-) = 1093.6 +/- 2.1 +/- 7.2 +/- 10.9 +/- 12.7 pb, sigma(W-) -> mu(-)nu(-) = 818.4 +/- 1.9 +/- 5.0 +/- 7.0 +/- 9.5 pb, sigma(Z) -> mu(+)mu(-) = 95.0 +/- 0.3 +/- 0.7 +/- 1.1 +/- 1.1 pb, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, the third are due to the knowledge of the LHC beam energy and the fourth are due to the luminosity determination. The evolution of the W and Z boson cross-sections with centre-of-mass energy is studied using previously reported measurements with 1.0 fb(-1) of data at 7 TeV. Differential distributions are also presented. Results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics.

Abstract (up) Measurements are reported of the central exclusive production of J= and ( 2 S) mesons in pp collisions at a centre- of- mass energy of 13 TeV. Backgrounds are signi fi cantly reduced compared to previous measurements made at lower energies through the use of new forward shower counters. The products of the cross- sections and the branching fractions for the decays to dimuons, where both muons are within the pseudorapidity range 2 : 0 < < 4 : 5, are measured to be The fi rst uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, and the third are due to the luminosity determination. The cross- sections are also measured di ff erentially for meson rapidities between 2.0 and 4.5. Good agreement is observed with theoretical predictions. Photoproduction cross- sections are derived and compared to previous experiments, and a deviation from a pure power- law extrapolation of lower energy data is observed.

Title Measurement of CP observables in B-+/- -> D-(*K-)(+/-) and B-+/- -> D-(*())pi(+/-) decays using two-body D final states Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.

Keywords B physics; CKM angle gamma; CP violation; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract (up) Measurements of CP observables in B-+/- -> D(*) K-+/- and B-+/- -> D(*) pi(+/-) decays are presented, where D(*) indicates a neutral D or D* meson that is an admixture of meson and anti-meson states. Decays of the D(*) meson to the D pi(0) and D gamma final states are partially reconstructed without inclusion of the neutral pion or photon. Decays of the D meson are reconstructed in the K-+/-pi(-/+), K+K-, and pi(+)pi(-) final states. The analysis uses a sample of charged B mesons produced in proton-proton collisions and collected with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 2.0, 1.0, and 5.7 fb(-1) taken at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV, respectively. The measurements of partially reconstructed B-+/- -> D(*) K-+/- and B-+/- -> D(*)pi(+/-) with D -> K--/+pi(+/-) decays are the first of their kind, and a first observation of the B-+/- -> (D pi(0)) D*pi(+/-) decay is made with a significance of 6.1 standard deviations. All CP observables are measured with world-best precision, and in combination with other LHCb results will provide strong constraints on the CKM angle gamma.
