Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The first observation of two structures consistent with resonances in the final states Lambda(0)(b)pi(-) and Lambda(0)(b)pi(+) thorn is reported using samples of pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at root s = 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The ground states Sigma(+/-)(b) and Sigma(*+/-)(b) are also confirmed and their masses and widths are precisely measured. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The first observations of B-0 -> (D) over bar*(2007)K-0(+)pi(-) and B-s(0) -> (D) over bar*(2007)K-0(-)pi(+) decays are presented, and their branching fractions relative to that of the B ->( D) over bar* (2007)(0)pi(+)pi(-) decay are reported. These modes can potentially be used to investigate the spectroscopy of charm and charm-strange resonances and to determine the angle gamma of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle. It is also important to understand them as a source of potential background in determinations of gamma from B+ -> DK+ and B-0 -> DK+pi(-) decays. The analysis is based on a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1 )of proton-proton collision data at 13 TeV center-of-mass energy recorded with the LHCb detector. The (D) over bar*(2007)(0) mesons are fully reconstructed in the (D) over bar (0)pi(0) and (D) over bar (0)gamma channels with the (D) over bar (0) -> K+pi(-) decay. A novel weighting method is used to subtract background while simultaneously applying an event-by-event efficiency correction to account for resonant structures in the decays. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The first search for the doubly heavy Omega(0)(bc) baryon and a search for the Xi(0)(bc) baryon are performed using collision data collected via the experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 fb(-1). The baryons are reconstructed via their decays to Lambda(+)(-)(c)(pi) and Xi(+)(c)pi(-). No significant excess is found for invariant masses between 6700 and 7300 MeV/c(2), in a rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and a transverse momentum range from 2 to 20 MeV/c. Upper limits are set on the ratio of the Omega(0)(bc) and Xi(0)(bc) production cross-section times the branching fraction to Lambda(+)(c)pi(-)(Xi(+)(c)pi(-)) relative to that of the Lambda(0)(b)(Xi(0)(b)) baryon, for different lifetime hypotheses, at 95% confidence level. The upper limits range from 0.5x10(-4) to 2.5x10(-4) for the Omega(0)(bc) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-) (Xi(0)(bc) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-)) decay, pending on the considered mass and lifetime of the Omega(0)(bc) (Xi(0)(bc)) baryon. |

The first search for the rare radiative decay Xi(-)(b) -> Xi(-)gamma is performed using data collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1). The Xi(-)(b) -> Xi(-)-J/ psi channel is used as normalization. Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The first simultaneous test of muon-electron universality using B+ -> K(+)l(+)l(-) and B-0 -> K*(0)l(+) l(-) decays is performed, in two ranges of the dilepton invariant-mass squared, q(2). The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). Each of the four lepton universality measurements reported is either the first in the given q(2) interval or supersedes previous LHCb measurements. The results are compatible with the predictions of the Standard Model. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The first study of CP violation in the decay mode B-+/- -> [K+K-pi(+)pi(-)](D)h(+/-), with h = K, pi, is presented, exploiting a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9fb(-1). The analysis is performed in bins of phase space, which are optimised for sensitivity to local CP asymmetries. CP-violating observables that are sensitive to the angle gamma of the Unitarity Triangle are determined. The analysis requires external information on charm-decay parameters, which are currently taken from an amplitude analysis of LHCb data, but can be updated in the future when direct measurements become available. Measurements are also performed of phase-space integrated observables for B-+/- -> [K+K-pi(+)pi(-)](D)h(+/-) and B-+/- -> [pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)](D)h(+/-) decays. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The first study of the angular distribution of mu(+) mu(-) pairs produced in the forward rapidity region via the Drell-Yan reaction pp -> gamma*/Z + X -> l(+) l(-) + X is presented, using data collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb(-1). The coefficients of the five leading terms in the angular distribution are determined as a function of the dimuon transverse momentum and rapidity. The results are compared to various theoretical predictions of the Z-boson production mechanism and can also be used to probe transverse-momentum-dependent parton distributions within the proton. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The firstmeasurement of J/psi and D-0 production in PbNe collisions by the LHCb experiment in its fixed-target configuration is reported. The production of J/psi and D-0 mesons is studied with a beam of lead ions with an energy of 2.5 TeV per nucleon colliding on gaseous neon targets at rest, corresponding to a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of root s(NN) = 68.5 GeV. The J/psi/D-0 production crosssection ratio is studied as a function of rapidity, transverse momentum and collision centrality. These data are compared with measurements from pNe collisions at the same energy and showno difference in the observed J/psi suppression trend when comparing pNe and PbNe peripheral collisions with PbNe central collisions. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The identification of charm jets is achieved at LHCb for data collected in 2015-2018 using a method based on the properties of displaced vertices reconstructed and matched with jets. The performance of this method is determined using a dijet calibration dataset recorded by the LHCb detector and selected such that the jets are unbiased in quantities used in the tagging algorithm. The charm-tagging efficiency is reported as a function of the transverse momentum of the jet. The measured efficiencies are compared to those obtained from simulation and found to be in good agreement. |
