Title Heavy-light mesons in the epsilon-regime Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages 070 - 30pp
Keywords Lattice QCD; Heavy Quark Physics; Chiral Lagrangians
Abstract (down) We study the finite-size scaling of heavy-light mesons in the static limit. We compute two-point functions of chiral current densities as well as pseudoscalar densities in the epsilon-regime of heavy meson Chiral Perturbation Theory (HMChPT). As expected, finite volume dependence turns out to be significant in this regime and can be predicted in the effective theory in terms of the infinite-volume low-energy couplings. These results might be relevant for extraction of heavy-meson properties from lattice simulations.

Title Importance of torsion and invariant volumes in Palatini theories of gravity Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 88 Issue 8 Pages 084030 - 11pp
Keywords
Abstract (down) We study the field equations of extensions of general relativity formulated within a metric-affine formalism setting torsion to zero (Palatini approach). We find that different (second-order) dynamical equations arise depending on whether torsion is set to zero (i) a priori or (ii) a posteriori, i.e., before or after considering variations of the action. Considering a generic family of Ricci-squared theories, we show that in both cases the connection can be decomposed as the sum of a Levi-Civita connection and terms depending on a vector field. However, while in case (i) this vector field is related to the symmetric part of the connection, in (ii) it comes from the torsion part and, therefore, it vanishes once torsion is completely removed. Moreover, the vanishing of this torsion-related vector field immediately implies the vanishing of the antisymmetric part of the Ricci tensor, which therefore plays no role in the dynamics. Related to this, we find that the Levi-Civita part of the connection is due to the existence of an invariant volume associated with an auxiliary metric h(mu v), which is algebraically related with the physical metric g(mu v).

Title (B)over-bar(s) -> K semileptonic decay from an Omnes improved constituent quark model Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Physics Letters B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Lett. B
Volume 738 Issue Pages 144-149
Keywords
Abstract (down) We study the f(+) form factor for the semileptonic (B) over bar (s) -> K+ l(-) (V) over bar (l) decay in a constituent quark model. The valence quark estimate is supplemented with the contribution from the (B) over bar* pole that dominates the high q(2) region. We use a multiply-subtracted Omnes dispersion relation to extend the quark model predictions from its region of applicability near q(max)(2) = (M-Bs – M-K)(2) similar to 23.75 GeV2 to all q(2) values accessible in the physical decay. To better constrain the dependence of f(+) on q(2), we fit the subtraction constants to a combined input from previous light cone sum rule by Duplancic and Melic (2008) [11] and the present quark model results. From this analysis, we obtain Gamma ( (B) over bar (s) -> K+ l(-) (V) over bar (l)) = (5.47(-0.46)(+0.54)) vertical bar Vub vertical bar(2) x 10(-9) MeV, which is about 10% and 20% higher than the predictions based on Lattice QCD and QCD light cone sum rules respectively. The former predictions, for both the form factor f(+) (q(2)) and the differential decay width, lie within the 1 sigma band of our estimated uncertainties for all q(2) values accessible in the physical decay, except for a quite small region very close to q(max)(2). Differences with the light cone sum results for the form factor f(+) are larger than 20% in the region above q(2) = 15 GeV2.

Title Looking for axion dark matter in dwarf spheroidal galaxies Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 98 Issue 8 Pages 083024 - 6pp
Keywords
Abstract (down) We study the extent to which the decay of cold dark matter axions can be probed with forthcoming radio telescopes such as the Square Kilometer Array (SKA). In particular, we focus on signals arising from dwarf spheroidal galaxies, where astrophysical uncertainties are reduced and the expected magnetic field strengths are such that signals arising from axion decay may dominate over axion-photon conversion in a magnetic field. We show that with similar to 100 hr of observing time, SKA could improve current sensitivity by 2-3 orders of magnitude-potentially obtaining sufficient sensitivity to begin probing the decay of cold dark matter axions.

Title Ds0*(2317) and DK scattering in B decays from BaBar and LHCb data Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C

Abstract (down) We study the experimental DK invariant mass spectra of the reactions B+ -> (D) over bar (DK+)-D-0-K-0, B-0 -> D-(DK+)-K-0 (measured by the BaBar collaboration) and B-s -> pi(+DK-)-K-0 measured by the LHCb collaboration), where an enhancement right above the threshold is seen. We show that this enhancement is due to the presence of D-s0*(2317), which is a D K bound state in the I (J(P)) = 0(0(+)) sector. We employ a unitarized amplitude with an interaction potential fixed by heavy meson chiral perturbation theory. We obtain a mass M-Ds0* = 2315(-17) (+12 +10)(-5) MeV, and we also show, by means of theWeinberg compositeness condition, that the DK component in the wave function of this state is P-DK = 70(-6 -8)(+4 +4) %, where the first (second) error is statistical (systematic).
