Abstract: A search is performed for a heavy particle decaying into different-flavour, dilepton final states, using 139 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data at = 13 TeV collected in 2015–2018 by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Final states with electrons, muons and hadronically decaying tau leptons are considered (eμ, eτ or μτ). No significant excess over the Standard Model predictions is observed. Upper limits on the production cross-section are set as a function of the mass of a Z′ boson, a supersymmetric τ-sneutrino, and a quantum black-hole. The observed 95% CL lower mass limits obtained on a typical benchmark model Z′ boson are 5.0 TeV (eμ), 4.0 TeV (eτ), and 3.9 TeV (μτ), respectively.

Abstract: A search is performed for a spin-0 boson, phi, produced in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, using prompt phi -> mu(+)mu(-) decays and a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 3.0 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. No evidence is found for a signal in the mass range from 5.5 to 15 GeV. Upper limits are placed on the product of the production cross-section and the branching fraction into the dimuon final state. The limits are comparable to the best existing over most of the mass region considered and are the first to be set near the Upsilon resonances.

Abstract: A search is performed for D-sJ(()*()+) mesons in the reactions pp -> D*(+KSX)-X-0 and pp -> D*(K+X)-K-0 using data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. For the D*K-+(S)0 final state, the decays D*(+) -> D-0 pi(+) with D-0 -> K-pi(+) and D-0 -> K-pi(+)pi(+)pi(-) are used. For D*K-0(+), the decay D*(0) -> D-0 pi(0) with D-0 -> K-pi(+) is used. A prominent D-s1(2536)(+) signal is observed in both D*K-+(S)0 and D*K-0(+) final states. The resonances D*(s1)(2700)(+) and D*(s3)(2860)(+) are also observed, yielding information on their properties, including spin-parity assignments. The decay D*(s2)(2573)(+) -> D*(+) K-S(0) is observed for the first time, at a significance of 6.9 sigma, and its branching fraction relative to the D*(s2)(2573)(+) -> (D+KS0) decay mode is measured.

Abstract: A search is performed for flavour-changing neutral currents in the decay of a top quark to an up-type (c, u) quark and a Higgs boson, where the Higgs boson decays to two photons. The proton-proton collision data set used corresponds to 4.7 fb(-1) at root s = 7TeV and 20.3 fb(-1) at root s = 8TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Top quark pair events are searched for in which one top quark decays to qH and the other decays to bW. Both the hadronic and the leptonic decay modes of the W boson are used. No significant signal is observed and an upper limit is set on the t -> qH branching ratio of 0.79% at the 95% confidence level. The corresponding limit on the tqH coupling combination root lambda(2)(tcH) + root lambda(2)(tuH) is 0.17.

Abstract: A search is performed for narrow resonances decaying into WW, WZ, or ZZ boson pairs using 20.3 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Diboson resonances with masses in the range from 1.3 to 3.0 TeV are sought after using the invariant mass distribution of dijets where both jets are tagged as a boson jet, compatible with a highly boosted W or Z boson decaying to quarks, using jet mass and substructure properties. The largest deviation from a smoothly falling background in the observed dijet invariant mass distribution occurs around 2 TeV in the WZ channel, with a global significance of 2.5 standard deviations. Exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level are set on the production cross section times branching ratio for the WZ final state of a new heavy gauge boson, W', and for the WW and ZZ final states of Kaluza-Klein excitations of the graviton in a bulk Randall-Sundrum model, as a function of the resonance mass. W' bosons with couplings predicted by the extended gauge model in the mass range from 1.3 to 1.5 TeV are excluded at 95% confidence level.
