Abstract (down) We report a search for the decay (B) over bar (0) -> Lambda(+)(c)(p) over barp (p) over bar. Using a data sample of 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II2 storage ring at SLAC, we find no events and set an upper limit on the branching fraction B((B) over bar (0) -> Lambda(+)(c)(p) over barp (p) over bar x B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+))/0.050 < 2.8 x 10(-6) at 90% C. L., where we have normalized B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+)) to the world average value.

Title Search for single top quark production in p(p)over-bar collisions at root s=1.96 TeV in the missing transverse energy plus jets topology Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) We report a search for single top quark production with the CDF II detector using 2: 1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity of p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV. The data selected consist of events characterized by large energy imbalance in the transverse plane and hadronic jets, and no identified electrons and muons, so the sample is enriched in W -> tau nu decays. In order to suppress backgrounds, additional kinematic and topological requirements are imposed through a neural network, and at least one of the jets must be identified as a b quark jet. We measure an excess of signal-like events in agreement with the standard model prediction, but inconsistent with a model without single top quark production by 2.1 standard deviations (sigma), with a median expected sensitivity of 1.4 sigma. Assuming a top quark mass of 175 GeV/c(2) and ascribing the excess to single top quark production, the cross section is measured to be 4.9(-2.2)(+2.5) (stat + syst) pb, consistent with measurements performed in independent data sets and with the standard model prediction.

Abstract (down) We report a search for CP violation in the decay modes D-+/- -> (KSK +/-)-K-0, D-s(+/-) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0, and D-s(+/-) -> K-S(0)pi(+/-) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e(+)e(-) storage rings. The decay rate CP asymmetries, ACP, are determined to be (+0.13 +/- 0.36(stat) +/- 0.25(syst))%, (-0.05 +/- 0.23(stat) +/- 0.24(syst))%, and (+0.6 +/- 2.0(stat) +/- 0.3(syst))%, respectively. These measurements are consistent with zero, and also with the Standard Model prediction [(-0.332 +/- 0.006)% for the D-+/- -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 and D-s(+/-) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 modes, and (+0.332 +/- 0.006)% for the D-s(+/-) -> K-S(0)pi(+/-) mode]. They are the most precise determinations to date.

Title Measurement of the muon neutrino inclusive charged-current cross section in the energy range of 1-3 GeV with the T2K INGRID detector Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) We report a measurement of the nu(mu)-nucleus inclusive charged-current cross section (= sigma(cc)) on iron using data from the INGRID detector exposed to the J-PARC neutrino beam. The detector consists of 14 modules in total, which are spread over a range of off-axis angles from 0 degrees to 1.1 degrees. The variation in the neutrino energy spectrum as a function of the off-axis angle, combined with event topology information, is used to calculate this cross section as a function of neutrino energy. The cross section is measured to be sigma(cc) (1.1 GeV) = 1.10 +/- 0.15 (10(-38) cm(2)/nucleon), sigma(cc) (2.0 GeV) = 2.07 +/- 0.27 (10(-38) cm(2)/nucleon), and sigma(cc) (3.3 GeV) = 2.29 +/- 0.45 (10(-38) cm(2)/nucleon), at energies of 1.1, 2.0, and 3.3 GeV, respectively. These results are consistent with the cross section calculated by the neutrino interaction generators currently used by T2K. More importantly, the method described here opens up a new way to determine the energy dependence of neutrino-nucleus cross sections.

The measured inclusive charged current cross sections on iron and hydrocarbon averaged over the T2K on-axis flux with a mean neutrino energy of 1.51 GeVare (1.444 +/- 0.002(stat)(-0.157)(+0.189)- (syst)) x 10(-38) cm(2)/ nucleon and (1.379 +/- 0.009(stat)(-0.147)(+0.178) (syst)) x 10(-38) 38 cm(2)/ nucleon, respectively, and their cross-section ratio is 1.047 +/- 0.007(stat) +/- 0.035(syst). These results agree well with the predictions of the neutrino interaction model, and thus we checked the correct treatment of the nuclear effect for iron and hydrocarbon targets in the model within the measurement precisions.

These results agree well with the predictions of neutrino interaction models. In addition, we investigated the effects of the nuclear model and the multi-nucleon interaction.

Abstract (down) We report a measurement of the inclusive semileptonic branching fraction of the B(s) meson using data collected with the BABAR detector in the center-of-mass energy region above the Y(4S) resonance. We use the inclusive yield of phi mesons and the phi yield in association with a high-momentum lepton to perform a simultaneous measurement of the semileptonic branching fraction and the production rate of B(s) mesons relative to all B mesons as a function of center-of-mass energy. The inclusive semileptonic branching fraction of the B(s) meson is determined to be B(B(s) -> l nu X) = 9.5(-2.0)(+2.5)(stat)(-1.9)(+1.1)(syst)% where l indicates the average of e and mu.

Abstract (down) We report a measurement of the flux-integrated cross section for inclusive muon neutrino charged-current interactions on carbon. The double-differential measurements are given as a function of the muon momentum and angle. Relative to our previous publication on this topic, these results have an increased angular acceptance and higher statistics. The data sample presented here corresponds to 5.7 x 10(20) protons on target. The total flux-integrated cross section is measured to be (6.950 +/- 0.662) x 10(-39) cm(2) nucleon(-1) and is consistent with our simulation.

Abstract (down) We report a measurement of the flux-averaged neutral-current elastic differential cross section for neutrinos scattering on mineral oil (CH2) as a function of four-momentum transferred squared, Q(2). It is obtained by measuring the kinematics of recoiling nucleons with kinetic energy greater than 50 MeV which are readily detected in MiniBooNE. This differential cross-section distribution is fit with fixed nucleon form factors apart from an axial mass M-A that provides a best fit for M-A = 1.39 +/- 0.11 GeV. Using the data from the charged-current neutrino interaction sample, a ratio of neutral-current to charged-current quasielastic cross sections as a function of Q(2) has been measured. Additionally, single protons with kinetic energies above 350 MeV can be distinguished from neutrons and multiple nucleon events. Using this marker, the strange quark contribution to the neutral-current axial vector form factor at Q(2) – 0, Delta s, is found to be Delta s = 0.08 +/- 0.26.
