  Abstract (down) We study the process e(+)e(-) -> psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-) with initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the (nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 520 fb(-1). We investigate the psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-) mass distribution from 3.95 to 5.95 GeV/c(2), and measure the center-of-mass energy dependence of the associated e(+)e(-) -> psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-) cross section. The mass distribution exhibits evidence of two resonant structures. A fit to the psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-) mass distribution corresponding to the decay mode psi(2S) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) yields a mass value of 4340 +/- 16 (stat) +/- 9 (syst) MeV/c(2) and a width of 94 +/- 32 (stat) +/- 13 (syst) MeV for the first resonance, and for the second a mass value of 4669 +/- 21 (stat) +/- 3 (syst) MeV/c(2) and a width of 104 +/- 48 (stat) +/- 10 (syst) MeV. In addition, we show the pi(+)pi(-) mass distributions for these resonant regions.

  Abstract (down) We study the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)gamma, with a photon emitted from the initial-state electron or positron, using 454.3 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC, corresponding to approximately 260 000 signal events. We use these data to extract the nonradiative sigma(e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)) cross section in the energy range from 0.6 to 4.5 GeV. The total uncertainty of the cross section measurement in the peak region is less than 3%, higher in precision than the corresponding results obtained from energy scan data.

  Abstract (down) We study the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)eta gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About 8000 fully reconstructed events of this process are selected from the BABAR data sample with an integrated luminosity of 469 fb(-1). Using the pi(+)pi(-)eta invariant mass spectrum, we measure the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)eta cross section in the e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energy range from 1.15 to 3.5 GeV. The cross section is well described by the Vector-Meson dominance model with four.-like states. We observe 49 +/- 9 events of the J/Psi decay to pi(+)pi(-)eta and measure the product Gamma B-J/Psi -> e+e-(J/Psi ->pi+pi-eta) = 2.34 +/- 0.43(stat) +/- 0.16(syst) eV.

  Abstract (down) We study the process e(+)e(-) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) with initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies 10.58 and 10.54 GeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 454 fb(-1). We investigate the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) mass distribution in the region from 3.5 to 5.5 GeV/c(2). Below 3.7 GeV/c(2) the psi (2S) signal dominates, and above 4 GeV/c(2) there is a significant peak due to the Y(4260). A fit to the data in the range 3.74-5.50 GeV/c(2) yields a mass value 4245 +/- 5(stat) +/- 4(syst) MeV/c(2) and a width value 114(-15)(+16)(stat) +/- 7(syst) MeV for this state. We do not confirm the report from the Belle Collaboration of a broad structure at 4.01 GeV/c(2). In addition, we investigate the pi(+)pi(-) system which results from Y(4260) decay.

  Abstract (down) We study the lepton forward-backward asymmetry AFB and the longitudinal K* polarization F-L, as well as an observable P-2 derived from them, in the rare decays B -> K*l(+)l(-), where l(+)l(-) is either e(+)e(-) or mu(+)mu(-), using the full sample of 471 million B (B) over bar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR, detector at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) collider. We separately fit and report results for the K*(0)(892)l(+)l(-) and K*(+)(892) l(+)l(-) final states, as well as their combination K*l(+)l(-), in five disjoint dilepton mass-squared bins. An angular analysis of B+ -> K*(+)l(+)l(-) decays is presented here for the first time.

  Abstract (down) We study the decay (B) over bar (0) -> Lambda(+)(c) (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-), reconstructing the Lambda(+)(c) baryon in the pK(-) pi(+) mode, using a data sample of 467 X 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings at SLAC. We measure branching fractions for decays with intermediate Sigma(c) baryons to be B[(B) over bar (0) -> Sigma(c)(2455)(++) (p) over bar (-) pi(-)] = (21.3 +/- 1.0 +/- 1.0 +/- 5.5) X 10(-5), B[(B) over bar (0) -> Sigma(c)(2520)(++) (p) over bar (-) pi(-)] = (11.5 +/- 1.0 +/- 0.5 +/- 3.0) X 10(-5), B[(B) over bar (0) -> Sigma(c)(2455)(0) (p) over bar (-) pi(-)] – (9.1 +/- 0.7 +/- 0.4 +/- 2.4) X 10(-5), and B[(B) over bar (0) -> Sigma(c)(2520)(++) (p) over bar (-) pi(-)] – (2.2 +/- 0.7 +/- 0.1 +/- 0.6) X 10(-5), where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the uncertainty on the Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-) pi(+) branching fraction, respectively. For decays without Sigma(c)(2455) or Sigma(c)(2520) resonances, we measure B[(B) over bar (0) -> Lambda(+)(c) (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-)](non-Sigma c) =(79 +/- 4 +/- 4 +/- 20) X 10(-5). The total branching fraction is determined to be B[(B) over bar (0) -> Lambda(+)(c) (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-)](total) = (123 +/- 5 +/- 7 +/- 32) X 10(-5). We examine multibody mass combinations in the resonant three-particle Sigma(c) final states and in the four-particle Lambda(+)(c) (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-) final state, and observe different characteristics for the (p) over bar pi combination in neutral versus doubly charged Sigma(c) decays.

  Abstract (down) We study inclusive dipion decays using a sample of 108 x 10(6)Y(3S) events recorded with the BABAR detector. We search for the decay mode Y(3S) -> pi(+)pi(-) h(b)(1P) and find no evidence for the bottomonium spin-singlet state h(b)(1P) in the invariant mass distribution recoiling against the pi(+)pi(-) system. Assuming the h(b)(1P) mass to be 9.900 GeV/c(2), we measure the upper limit on the branching fraction B[Y(3S) -> pi(+)pi(-) h(b)(1P)] < 1.2 x 10(-4), at 90% confidence level. We also investigate the chi(bJ)(2P) -> pi(+)pi(-) chi(bJ)(1P), Y(3S) -> pi(+)pi(-) Y(2S), and Y(2S) -> pi(+)pi(-) Y(1) dipion transitions and present an improved measurement of the branching fraction of the Y(3S) -> pi(+)pi(-) Y(2S) decay and of the Y(3S) – Y(2S) mass difference.

  Abstract (down) We search for the Z(1)(4050)(+) and Z(2)(4250)(+) states, reported by the Belle Collaboration, decaying to chi(c1)pi(+) in the decays (B) over bar (0) -> chi K-c1(-)pi(+) and B+ -> chi K-c1(S)0 pi(+) where chi(c1) -> J/psi gamma. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider operating at center-of-mass energy 10.58 GeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 429 fb(-1). In this analysis, we model the background-subtracted, efficiency-corrected chi(c1)pi(+) mass distribution using the K pi mass distribution and the corresponding normalized K pi Legendre-polynomial moments, and then test the need for the inclusion of resonant structures in the description of the chi(c1)pi(+) mass distribution. No evidence is found for the Z(1)(4050)(+) and Z(2)(4250)(+) resonances, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions are reported for the corresponding B-meson decay modes.

  Abstract (down) We search for the rare flavor-changing neutral current process B+ -> K+tau(+)tau(-) using data from the BABAR experiment. The data sample, collected at the center-of-mass energy of the Upsilon(4S) resonance, corresponds to a total integrated luminosity of 424 fb(-1) and to 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs. We reconstruct one B meson, produced in the Upsilon(4S) -> B+B- decay, in one of many hadronic decay modes and search for activity compatible with a B+ -> K+tau(+)tau(-) decay in the rest of the event. Each tau lepton is required to decay leptonically into an electron or muon and neutrinos. Comparing the expected number of background events with the data sample after applying the selection criteria, we do not find evidence for a signal. The resulting upper limit, at the 90% confidence level, is B(B+ -> K+tau(+)tau(-)) < 2.25 x 10(-3).
