Abstract: The CKM angle gamma is measured for the first time from mixing-induced CP violation between Bs0 -> Ds -/+ K pi +/- pi -/+ and Bs0bar -> Ds +/- K -/+ pi -/+ pi +/- decays reconstructed in proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1) recorded with the LHCb detector. A time-dependent amplitude analysis is performed to extract the CP-violating weak phase gamma – 2 beta (s) and, subsequently, gamma by taking the Bs0-Bs0bar mixing phase beta (s) as an external input. The measurement yields gamma = (44 +/- 12) degrees modulo 180 degrees, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are combined. An alternative model-independent measurement, integrating over the five-dimensional phase space of the decay, yields gamma = (44 -13+20) degrees modulo 180 degrees. Moreover, the Bs0-Bs0bar oscillation frequency is measured from the flavour-specific control channel Bs0 -> Ds- pi+ pi+ pi- to be m(s) = (17.757 +/- 0.007(stat) +/- 0.008(syst)) ps(-1), consistent with and more precise than the current world-average value.

Abstract: The concordance of the ACDM cosmological model in light of current observations has been the subject of an intense debate in recent months. The 2018 Planck Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature anisotropy power spectrum measurements appear at face value to favour a spatially closed Universe with curvature parameter Omega(K) < 0. This preference disappears if Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) measurements are combined with Planck data to break the geometrical degeneracy, although the reliability of this combination has been questioned due to the strong tension present between the two datasets when assuming a curved Universe. Here, we approach this issue from yet another point of view, using measurements of the full-shape (FS) galaxy power spectrum, P(k), from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey DR12 CMASS sample. By combining Planck data with FS measurements, we break the geometrical degeneracy and find Omega(K) = 0.0023 +/- 0.0028. This constrains the Universe to be spatially flat to sub-percent precision, in excellent agreement with results obtained using BAO measurements. However, as with BAO, the overall increase in the best-fit chi(2) suggests a similar level of tension between Planck and P(k) under the assumption of a curved Universe. While the debate on spatial curvature and the concordance between cosmological datasets remains open, our results provide new perspectives on the issue, highlighting the crucial role of FS measurements in the era of precision cosmology.

Abstract: The control and monitoring system for the new HADES RPC time of flight wall installed at GSI Helmholtzzentrum fur Schwerionenforschung GmbH (Darmstadt, Germany), is described. The slow control system controls/monitors about 6000 variables from different physical devices via a distributed architecture, which uses intensively the 1-wire (R) bus. The software implementation is based on the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) software tool kit providing low cost, reliability and adaptability without requiring large hardware resources. Abstract: The Cosmology and Astrophysics with Machine Learning Simulations (CAMELS) project was developed to combine cosmology with astrophysics through thousands of cosmological hydrodynamic simulations and machine learning. CAMELS contains 4233 cosmological simulations, 2049 N-body simulations, and 2184 state-of-the-art hydrodynamic simulations that sample a vast volume in parameter space. In this paper, we present the CAMELS public data release, describing the characteristics of the CAMELS simulations and a variety of data products generated from them, including halo, subhalo, galaxy, and void catalogs, power spectra, bispectra, Lya spectra, probability distribution functions, halo radial profiles, and X-rays photon lists. We also release over 1000 catalogs that contain billions of galaxies from CAMELS-SAM: a large collection of N-body simulations that have been combined with the Santa Cruz semianalytic model. We release all the data, comprising more than 350 terabytes and containing 143,922 snapshots, millions of halos, galaxies, and summary statistics. Abstract: The CPT symmetry, which combines Charge Conjugation, Parity, and Time Reversal, is a cornerstone of our model-building method, and its probable violation will endanger the most extended tool we presently utilize to explain physics, namely local relativistic quantum fields. However, the kaon system's conservation constraints appear to be rather severe. We will show in this paper that neutrino oscillation experiments can enhance this limit by many orders of magnitude, making them an excellent instrument for investigating the basis of our understanding of Nature. As a result, verifying CPT invariance does not evaluate a specific model, but rather the entire paradigm. Therefore, as the CPT's status in the neutrino sector, linked or not to Lorentz invariance violation, will be assessed at an unprecedented level by current and future long baseline experiments, distinguishing it from comparable experimental fingerprints coming from non-standard interactions is critical. Whether the entire paradigm or simply the conventional model of neutrinos is at jeopardy is significantly dependent on this.
