Title Measurement of the mass difference between top and anti-top quarks in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV using the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) A measurement of the mass difference between top and anti-top quarks is presented. In a 4.7 fb(-1) data sample of proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, events consistent with t (t) over bar production and decay into a single charged lepton final state are reconstructed. For each event, the mass difference between the top and anti-top quark candidate is calculated. A two b-tag requirement is used in order to reduce the background contribution. A maximum likelihood fit to these per-event mass differences yields Delta m = m(t) – m((t) over bar) = 0.67 +/- 0.61 (stat) +/- 0.41 (syst) GeV, consistent with CPT invariance.

Title Measurement of the inclusive isolated prompt photons cross section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector using 4.6 fb(-1) Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) A measurement of the cross section for the production of isolated prompt photons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy root s = 7 TeV is presented. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb(-1) collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The cross section is measured as a function of photon pseudorapidity eta(gamma) and transverse energy E-T(gamma) in the kinematic range 100 <= E-T(gamma) < 1000 GeV and in the regions vertical bar eta(gamma)vertical bar < 1.37 and 1.52 <= vertical bar eta(gamma)vertical bar < 2.37. The results are compared to leading-order parton-shower Monte Carlo models and next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations. Next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations agree well with the measured cross sections as a function of E-T(gamma) and eta(gamma) .

Abstract (down) A measurement of the B-s(0) -> J/psi phi decay parameters, updated to include flavor tagging is reported using 4.9 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS detector from root s = 7 TeV pp collisions recorded in 2011 at the LHC. The values measured for the physical parameters are phi(s) = 0.12 +/- 0.25(stat) +/- 0.05(syst) rad Delta Gamma(s) = 0.053 +/- 0.021(stat) +/- 0.010(syst) ps(-1) Gamma(s) = 0.677 +/- 0.007(stat) +/- 0.004(syst) ps(-1) vertical bar A(parallel to)(0)vertical bar(2) = 0.220 +/- 0.008(stat) +/- 0.009(syst) vertical bar A(0)(0)vertical bar(2) = 0.529 +/- 0.006(stat) +/- 0.012(syst) delta(perpendicular to) = 3.89 +/- 0.47(stat) +/- 0.11(syst) rad where the parameter Delta Gamma(s) is constrained to be positive. The S-wave contribution was measured and found to be compatible with zero. Results for phi(s) and Delta Gamma(s) are also presented as 68% and 95% likelihood contours, which show agreement with the Standard Model expectations.

Title Measurement of k(T) splitting scales in W -> l nu events at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
Volume 73 Issue 5 Pages 2432 - 30pp

Abstract (down) A measurement of splitting scales, as defined by the kT clustering algorithm, is presented for final states containing a W boson produced in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The measurement is based on the full 2010 data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1) which was collected using the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Cluster splitting scales are measured in events containing W bosons decaying to electrons or muons. The measurement comprises the four hardest splitting scales in a k(T) cluster sequence of the hadronic activity accompanying the W boson, and ratios of these splitting scales. Backgrounds such as multi-jet and top-quark-pair production are subtracted and the results are corrected for detector effects. Predictions from various Monte Carlo event generators at particle level are compared to the data. Overall, reasonable agreement is found with all generators, but larger deviations between the predictions and the data are evident in the soft regions of the splitting scales.

Title Measurement of jet shapes in top-quark pair events at root s=7 TeV using the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C

Abstract (down) A measurement of jet shapes in top-quark pair events using 1.8 fb(-1) of pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. Samples of top-quark pair events are selected in both the single-lepton and dilepton final states. The differential and integrated shapes of the jets initiated by bottom-quarks from the top-quark decays are compared with those of the jets originated by light-quarks from the hadronic W-boson decays in the single-lepton channel. The light-quark jets are found to have a narrower distribution of the momentum flow inside the jet area than b-quark jets.
