Title Search for f(J)(2220) in Radiative J/psi Decays Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) We present a search for f(J)(2220) production in radiative J/psi --> gamma f(J)(2220) decays using 460 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e(+)e(-) collider. The f(J)(2220) is searched for in the decays to K+K- and (KSKS0)-K-0. No evidence of this resonance is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the branching fractions for J/psi --> gamma f(J)(2220) and f(J)(2220) --> K+K-((KSKS0)-K-0) as a function of spin and helicity are set at the level of 10(-5), below the central values reported by the Mark III experiment.

Title Search for long-lived particles in e(+)e(-) collisions Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
Volume 114 Issue 17 Pages 171801 - 7pp
Keywords
Abstract (down) We present a search for a neutral, long-lived particle L that is produced in e(+)e(-)collisions and decays at a significant distance from the e(+)e(-) interaction point into various flavor combinations of two oppositely charged tracks. The analysis uses an e(+)e(-) data sample with a luminosity of 489.1 fb(-1) collected by the BABAR detector at the Upsilon(4S), Upsilon(3S), and Upsilon(2S) resonances and just below the Upsilon(4S). Fitting the two-track mass distribution in search of a signal peak, we do not observe a significant signal, and set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the L production cross section, branching fraction, and reconstruction efficiency for six possible two-body L decay modes as a function of the L mass. The efficiency is given for each final state as a function of the mass, lifetime, and transverse momentum of the candidate, allowing application of the upper limits to any production model. In addition, upper limits are provided on the branching fraction B(B -> XsL), where X-s is a strange hadronic system.

Title Measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of partially reconstructed B-0 -> D*D+*(-) decays Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) We present a new measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of B-0 -> D*D+*(-) decays using (471 +/- 5) million B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Using the technique of partial reconstruction, we measure the time-dependent CP asymmetry parameters S = -0.34 +/- 0.12 +/- 0.05 and C = 0.15 +/- 0.09 +/- 0.04. Using the value for the CP-odd fraction R-perpendicular to = 0.158 +/- 0.028 +/- 0.006, previously measured by BABAR with fully reconstructed B-0 -> D*D+*(-) events, we extract the CP-even components S+ = 0.49 +/- 0.18 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.04 and C+ = +0.15 +/- 0.09 +/- 0.04. In each case, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic; the third uncertainty on S+ is the contribution from the uncertainty on R-perpendicular to. The measured value of the CP-even component S+ is consistent with the value of sin2 beta measured in b -> (c (c) over bar )s transitions, and with the Standard Model expectation of small penguin contributions.

Title Measurement of the (B)over-bar(s)(0) Meson Lifetime in D-s(+)pi(-) Decays Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
Volume 113 Issue 17 Pages 172001 - 9pp
Keywords
Abstract (down) We present a measurement of the ratio of the (B) over bar (0)(s) meson lifetime, in the flavor-specific decay to D-s(+)pi(-), to that of the (B) over bar (0) meson. The pp collision data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb detector, at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. Combining our measured value of 1.010 +/- 0.010 +/- 0.008 for this ratio with the known (B) over bar (0) lifetime, we determine the flavor-specific (B) over bar (0)(s) lifetime to be tau((B) over bar (0)(s) ) = 1.535 +/- 0.015 +/- 0.014 ps, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This is the most precise measurement to date, and is consistent with previous measurements and theoretical predictions.

Title Measurement of the CP-Violating Phase phi(s) in (B)over-bar(s)(0) -> Ds+Ds- Decays Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
Volume 113 Issue 21 Pages 211801 - 9pp
Keywords
Abstract (down) We present a measurement of the CP-violating weak mixing phase phi(s) using the decay (B) over bar (0)(s) -> Ds+Ds- in a data sample corresponding to 3.0 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the LHCb detector in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. An analysis of the time evolution of the system, which does not use the constraint vertical bar lambda vertical bar = 1 to allow for the presence of CP violation in decay, yields phi(s) = 0.02 +/- 0.17(stat) +/- 0.02(syst) rad, vertical bar lambda vertical bar = 0.91(-0.15)(+0.18)(stat) +/- 0.02(syst). This result is consistent with the standard model expectation.
